Have both: one real one and one clone. The clone is alright, a bit heavier and gritty to fire but works great. The original, however, is phenomenal and also has a much better and grippier coating.
It's not a clone, it's a counterfeit. These Chinese knock-offs look good but if you closely compare them to the real thing the fit, finish and edge give it away. I'm a collector. A working man might have a different perspective.
@@dbmail545 Of course it's not as good as the real thing. The price and quality reflect that. But for $40 this thing has performed flawlessly. Always appreciate the perspective though. Thanks for the comment.
I highly doubt it's actual 20cv. If I had to guess, I would say it's probably 8Cr13MoV. But for $40 you can't complain. I use mine pretty hard and it's performed great so far.
@@3quartertim3 it's been over a year since I bought it so it's not in my order history anymore. Just type in "Livewire knife" into the search, you'll be good to go.
Buying a clone does not deter me from buying a real one. The price of the real ones do. If the clones work, great! If they don't, I didn't waste that much money. I have read a few times that a clone Microtech was actually better functioning wise than a real one. Who knows but if you try it yourself, right?
Save up for a real one. My experience. Anyone worth their salt in knives will be able to tell it is fake immediately. You lose soooo much functionality when the steel is D2, which this almost certainly is. I didnt watch this whole thing and im sure that whatever steel he thinks it is, it is worse. Edit: yeah if it is 40 bucks, it might be worse than D2 steel.
@@livein101112 Thanks for the comment and perspective. I use and abuse this clone hard. Cutting boxes, cardboard, rope, etc. It's never failed me and fires every time. Of course it's cheap Chinese steel and aluminum! She takes everything I give her! Attack of the Clones baby!
@@productreviewsallday oh yeah 100%. I have a white river fixed blade if i need to go somewhere. The livewire is for the apartment. General cutting and fine work. Truthfully, i got it in part because i wanted a magnacut blade. I got some good clones as well. Fuck up that knife yo 😂😂
It’s not about citizenship. It’s about copyright and intellectual property. Kershaw put a lot of money and effort into designing and marketing this knife and some chinese thugs just take it without permission and sell it. And by buying it you are supporting it. Also, I don’t think this is anywhere near CPM Magnacut steel so good luck with long time use and corrosion. And I wouldn’t bet my life on it, that it works in a real danger situation. Just watch the torture test from CBRx. The real Kershaw knife can stand extrem abuse. This clone is plastic garbage. Maybe nice to play around at home for a while pretending to be assassins creed, but when it comes to real uses you cant compare this to the quality of the original.
@@michaelknight141 I hear ya man. What can I say, it's a dog eat dog world out there. Never held the real deal, so I wouldn't know. The handle on the clone is aluminum, and like you said, the blade is most likely cheap steel. I have no illusions otherwise. I don't think anyone buying a $40 clone thinks they are getting a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Thanks for the comment, appreciate your perspective.
There is a clone company out there (Jufule) who says they have (and that they are the only ones) reproduction rights? If that's true or not, guess we'll never know.
Meanwhile, you are typing out you rant on a device that was most likely made in China or with Chinese parts, and all the other devices you use and rely on everyday, your vehicle that is probably loaded with Chinese shit, So, I say get off your high horse.

People on here bitching about "Chinese junk" when most everything they buy is Chinese. I bet they're even carrying a Chinese made knife right now.
