The Glenn Cunningham story is a GREAT story and should be heard by everyone. It is applicable to all of us, not just athletes.

Glenn Cunningham is my grandfather. This is mostly accurate, except that Floyd and Glenn weren't just "trying to be helpful" by starting the wood stove- it was what they were expected to do every morning. Also, there was a community club of local farm women who had a meeting at the schoolhouse the night before. They had built a fire and not extinguished it when they left, so there were still live coals in the stove. An excerpt from my grandfather's book, "Never Quit", said this... "The club members had brought gasoline with them to fill their lanterns before returning home. The gas had been left in the kerosene can, carelessly and with no identification to warn us of what could happen.
    And the worst had happened."

Thanks for the clarification. We tried our best to pack into a short amount of time the highlights of a great man’s life.

@@TravelAlongAdventures That's neat! Thank you for sharing that. I have a picture of my grandpa holding onto a live coyote. It had bitten him, so he kept it for a few days to see if it was rabid. Lol. It's always nice to hear other's stories about him.

FYI, The Oak tree presented by Adolf Hitler to Jack Lovelock was planted at Timaru Boys High School and still grows happily. 130 Oak trees were presented to all the gold medal winners at the 1936 Olympic Games.

Very good mini-documentary. However, I wouldn't call the result in Berlin a photo-finish; Lovelock won by at least five meters. The video of the race is on TH-cam for anyone who wants to see it. That takes nothing away from Cunningham; it was just Lovelock's day.
