- After Pascal reveals his plan and work to Francis, Francis expresses disgust. In response, Pascal comments on the state of the world and Man. Francis refuses to take part in his mad plans, and so Pascal launches an attack. In the ensuing battle, the house is lit on fire. Francis makes a fatal strike, and Pascal gives his final line.

Whats ironic about Claudandus is he is a havana brown. A designer cat purposefully bred in the 1950s for rich families. Hes a cat that was domesticated for the sole purpose of being loved by a family but ended up being a stray where from the horrors he goes through decides to reject what he is. In the book theres more details of his reasoning beyond what he went through.
Having saw his other kind die in the lab he convinced himself cats should never be domesticated because man is evil. He has no innocence at all, and he blames man for taking away his.
He has a lot of truth to his words because in the 60s and even 70s stray cats were seen as a pest carrying diease so many veterinarians recommended shooting them and putting them out of their misery if spotted on your property. It was common in my father's time for many to kill stray cats that showed up on their property.
The fact claudandus is a special breed made for a family puts more pain in his last words " I was once good."
Well. That just makes it more poignant.
They kind of still are. Feral cats and dogs destroy local animal populations very quickly. I think they are considered invasive species in New Zealand.

Exactly. Claudandus knew what he was doing when he killed all those 450 innocent cats and the second he started his own suicide cult.

I wish I could have found Claudandus as a kitten. But then...the scientist would just have found other cats. Claudandas's full quote from the novel is: "No! No! No! There are no good people! They're all the same! Don't you understand that? Animals are good human beings and human beings are bad animals! So much darkness in the world....so much darkness, Francis. No light. Only darkness. And there is always someone who will take it upon himself. Always. Always. Always. I have become evil, but once I, too, was good...."

Fitting end for him, being gutted and disemboweled - especially given that he killed a pregnant cat in a similar way earlier in the film. Very classy, movie.
My theory is his cancer and the experiments he endured made his belly easier to tear through, honestly.
In the book and comic he was decapitated like he did to Felicity.
Pretty sure it was a different cat that killed the pregnant one.

@@mad.allegra.garciaaccording to one of my friends, he started as a good kit, but turned to the dark side because of two factors: his father, Pinestar, leaving Thunderclan in favor of the life of a Kitty pet (which would explain his immense hatred toward Kitty pets) and the fact that his mentor, Thistleclaw, was cruel and merciless. So, the evil of his mentor and the pain of losing his father is ultimately what ended up making Tigerstar the evil cat we know.

As a die hard animal lover, I usually don’t like watching films like this, not only for it’s depiction of animal cruelty, but for how gruesome some of the animal deaths were in the movie, the two that stick with me till this day was when the scientist cut open cats’ heads and drop acidic chemicals in them and the second was when we saw Kong’s mate “who was in labor” killed with her stomach cut open, but despite all that, one thing that movies such as this and watership down teaches us, is that the world does not only belong to humans, we are not the only organisms who experience emotions such as happiness, sadness or in pascal’s case, revenge. As humans we need to reevaluate what is ethical and what is unethical because even today, animals are being put in situations that they have no control over for no reason but for the betterment of human research or entertainment. And it’s Clear that some of us haven’t learned our lesson because “fake animal rescue” videos are all over social media. None of this excuses what pascal did but we have to remember that this all happened because of human intervention.
Great movie....here's a thought... Compare this movie, mainly the final battle scene, to the lion king. Scar coming through the fire at Simba...cloudandis coming through the fire at Francis... The former mentioned in these scenes die. Both movies came out in 1994, both r about cats...funny coincidence
Also, the lion king was said to inspired by biblical stories...and this movie is infused with religion...weird. this movie was based in a book published in 1989. I rlly think the lion king drew influence from it. I wanna research it more

I can so imagine a Warriors movie looking like this. Come on, Hollywood. Make it happen.
There are so much flaws in his plan - he only had one or two allies, he was taken in by a good man who gave him food and warmth, he wanted Francis to take over after him when he made it clear he wanted to stop the killings and he thought of taking over mankind killing a few cats at a time. What a psychopath. He deserved what he got in the end, it was the only way it could end.
This whole fight is incredibly similar to that of Simba vs Scar in "The Lion King".

@@kathrynhill5796 Actually, it's neither John Hurt or Christopher Lloyd - he's in fact voiced by Peter Marinker. For some reason IMDb lists a completely wrong voice cast for the English version, but most of the 'actual' cast have been identified.

Honestly id say i some ways this movie gets even darker than warrior cats......
I mean, yeah in certain ways. Animal experimentation, more detailed cults, trauma inducing dreams, a villian that basically lives in Hitler's shadow, more gruesome deaths. In fact, Claudandus didn't die this way in the book. After Felicias' death, Francis vowed to kill the murderer the same way she was and kept that promise.
Warrior cats is nowhere near as dark as this movie, fair enough as it is a children's book series while felidae has many adult elements

Lena Sieg Bluebeard appears to survive the attack, as he's shown breathing after Francis evacuates him from the house. He's just unconscious. In the book, Bluebeard doesn't even accompany Francis when he goes to confront Claudandus, so keeping with that continuity he is probably still alive here as well.
Yes he survived but i read somewhere that he died of old age in the end of the book series

That's what ultimately corrupted General Woundwort in Watership Down; as a kitten (baby rabbits are known as kittens), a heartless gardener shot his father & then dug up his mum, him & his siblings & shot them all, only him & his mother survived.
Then it gets worse, as a weasel finds them & his mother proceeded to defend him & lost the fight due to her injury & was eaten. He even tried to wake her up after the weasel left her body.
Then he got found by a guy who took him home & was in a hutch & a cat teased him continously until he became an adult.
It drove him to insanity & upon escape as an adult, he began his tyrany on Efrafa, killing the original leader, taking over, making a new corrupted system & having nearby rabbit Warren's destroyed & dragging all the rabbits from them back to Efrafa where only the strongest males get chosen as Owslafa (Efrafan soldiers), does don't get to chose bucks but simply picked out by Owslafa & have to expand the warren almost 24/7 dud to overcrowding, & the males that are weak live in continous boredom.
All the tyrany he did with Efrafa was all because he was traumatised by a heartless gun man killing almost all his family, a weasel eating his mum in front of him, & a cruel cat.

I know Claudandus did horrible things but man I can’t help but feel bad for him. Yes, he could’ve chosen a better way to cope instead of starting a cult. But with how he lived his life, it’s a no wonder he felt nothing but darkness. He was but an innocent, naive stray who knew nothing of the horrors of man until it was too late. Nevertheless, his death was still deserved in the end. This kind of movie alongside Watership Down and Plague Dogs makes you wonder who the real monsters are

Don Bluth doesn't have as good a grasp on cat anatomy as this movie. I love him but his cats aren't the best. Though Bluebeard looks a bit like his style.

It's actually originally German, based on a German book series.
So what was his plan
He was attempting to genetically engineer cats back to their basics, ie to being more like their ancestors, to be rid of humanity
Francis gets shocked to think that The Murderer was supposed to be A Mad Scientist who disposes the slaughtered cats! Is is movie similar to The Omen? The Exorcist? The Amityville Horror? and The Pet Cemetary? Who provided the voices of these cats in the US Version?
Well, no? It's not a horror movie and there's nothing supernatural going on aside from the fact cats can apparently talk and choose not to. It's a murder mystery.
As for the voices, I'm not sure honestly, you can look it up perhaps.
I don't think at any point Francis thought it was a mad scientist disposing cats, in fact he specifically disagrees with Bluebeard about whether it was a human killing the neighbourhood cats.
But that Dream with The Ghost of Professor Mendel was frightening when Francis encounters Professor Mendel confronts him and taunts him with the crucifixes marinating the dead cats like voodoo puppets!
@@tarathompson9506 I mean yeah, but it's not a supernatural thing. He was seeing a lot of dead cats and he is also a very educated cat who can read, it's normal for the subconscious to seize on something the conscious brain has ignored or hasn't realized.
I mean it's not just a trope for people to wake up suddenly with an epiphany, it does happen with real people too.
It took me a bit to understand, but Claudandus didn't literally send nightmares to Francis, he's just a wily creep who was spying on Francis enough to see him experience nightmares. Or he assumed.
Murder mysteries can be graphic. When the target audience is adults, particularly. Murder mystery books can be quite graphic.
Mind, they don't have to be, but some make the choice to be. I think Francis's nightmare with Gregor Mendel was an over-exaggerated artistic choice, but I've had nightmares that were similarly disturbing. Also, the art style of the movie doesn't help to make it less disturbing. I honestly can't hardly stomach the scene where the video tape shows the science experiments.

His plan never made much sense. He hated man so to get back at man kind he wanted to kill all domesticated cats (because humans made them) and replace them with wild cats off his own offspring. I’m sorry but how does that get back at man? Also those wild cats in the movie acted just the same as the normal cats so what was the point?

1. Cats literally do that to prey animals all the time. 2. This cat had stomach cancer and was very old, so likely very susceptible to it regardless. 3. You may be shocked to know that this is not a real show, but rather, a cartoon.
