    Wow Lee's mental arithmetic is on point! Will be in bkk mid Feb so I will not be lucking forward to the higher prices compared to Chiang Mai.
    Are you ever worried about getting tummy issues eating street foods? That's my main concern and why I tend to stick to the food courts in the shopping malls.
    Great video as usual

      There are still plenty of amazing food options in Bangkok at great prices... have you watched our Bangkok videos, as we found some great bargains!

      In Thailand we always choose food stalls that look clean and popular with the locals, as we know that the Thai people are consummate foodies who value good quality dishes. We have never had dodgy stomachs eating street food or food from train vendors in Thailand... I'd be more wary of tourist restaurants! 😁😀

    This video contains a lot of useful information and tips. I watched it twice. 😂 Good idea about the tupperware and plastic silverware. I like mango and sticky rice, great idea to make your own mango and sticky rice. WOW! The food and drinks are very affordable, all under $2. I agree with Mandy that I could eat Thai food all day, every day too. 😋 There were nice and interesting things to see on the streets by wondering around. Lee’s 20 year old shirt still looks good. Chala looks beautiful, but it looks expensive for me. I laughed so hard that Mandy had 2 bowls of soup (I would do the same thing) 😂 Lee was a good sport to help Mandy to finish the second bowl. 🤣 Thank you very much again for sharing tips and making fun and education video. I hope Mandy is doing well. ❤

    Hi Mandy / Lee,
    If you had to choose Bangkok or Chiang Mai, which one would you pick?
    Them Banyan trees look fantastic / magical.
    Mother nature makes interesting things.
    Something that I've noticed it that most food you had were bowls of soup.
    It is because it's the preferred meal in that part of Thailand or it because it's easier / cheaper for the street vendors to make?
    Enjoy your week take care 🙋🏻‍♂️

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello SERGIO!
      That's a tough question, and I've been thinking about it all day. I absolutely love Chiang Mai for the cooler and more comfortable climate in winter, but the burning of the rice fields from March causes awful air pollution.
      Bangkok is big and bustling, but if you have a room in a nice quiet spot, with close proximity to public transport, then it's such a fascinating city to explore, with just so many incredible food options!
      I'd say I'd rather live in Chiang Mai, especially as it's so easy to walk around, but I'd definitely go and stay in Bangkok for a couple of weeks.
      That's a great question re: the soups, and the simple answer is that I love noodle soup, and try to have at least 1 per day in Thailand! The next time we go, I will mix it up a bit, but I was just so happy to be back after 14 years!
      I hope you have an excellent week. Thank you so much for your lovely comment 🙏🤗 ~ Mandy

    Hi guys, great video as always. Quick question. What is your budget for 2024 including all items such as flights & travel? Also, what do you think a mid 50's UK couple would need in terms of annual budget to do similar travel lifestyle to yourselves? Lastly, have costs gone up over the past 12-18 months due to inflation and cost of living? Cheers :)

    • @FrugalTravellers

      Such great questions, Ian! We haven't sat down and discussed any of these, and as we're currently each in our respective countries (NZ & UK) it's something that we'll be doing in February. I think it's a great idea for a video, so let me know if there are any other questions you'd like to ask,, and we'll make a stand alone 2024 Budget for Frugal Travellers vlog 😁🤗 ~ Mandy

    That Ice matcha🧋looked so good and the price was also reasonable (in west Europe it's like 3 or even 4 times more than that so not even worthy for just 1 cup). I love the message on the wall "adopt don't shop" are there many homeless dogs in Thailand?

    • @FrugalTravellers
      @FrugalTravellers  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello pocahoetaz 👋🤗 Thailand is certainly excellent value for street food and drinks - I think though that places like Starbucks are European prices... which is why we didn't go near them 😉😁 Yes, unfortunately there are homeless cats and dogs in Thailand, similar to many other countries we've travelled to, which is why it was so good to see and be able to share that mural. Thank you so much for your comment. It is always so lovely to hear from you 🙏🤗 ~ Mandy

      @@SERGIO-cr6uy well I don't eat any of animals so I don't really care if it's a dog or a cow and that law starting in 2027. They will get rid of every single dog till that year :)

      @@pocahoetazThis means you're a vegan, dont worry I'm not gonna debate on that as that's your choice.
      That said, why don't vegans eat eggs? Hens produce eggs even without a rooster, meaning the eggs aren't fertelized / no embryos.
      (Now you might say: it's animal cruelty to raise chicken for eggs)

    • @pocahoetaz
      @pocahoetaz 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@SERGIO-cr6uy I think most vegans don't eat eggs because of how the birds are treated and even those "range free" aren't really free it's just a marketing to call them like that. Very disturbing. As a vet I know how slaughterhouses and dairy farms work and I'm glad I don't support any of these (myself). I respect everybody (and I don't tell people what to eat) just not those who are trying to convince vegans or vegetarians that their diet couldn't be healthy I've studied too long for arguing with those kind of people. You're kind and I was talking in general :) Have a great rest of the week!
