    On a team of Hall of Famers, Cooper was the grit and the defensive intensity that wins championships. He greatly improved over his career and was a capable point guard, spot-up shooter and Larry Bird even shared that Cooper defended him the best. High Praise.

    I didn't get to see many Lakers games and I wasn't a Lakers fan, but I did like Cooper, and Worthy. Michael said that Bird was the main player that you had to pay attention to, even when he wasn't around or in possession of the ball. That is why Bird gave him credit for giving him the most trouble. Coop could score, as shown here, but when playing the Celtics, he concentrated on defending against Bird, rebounding and shooting from outside, when possible. I always thought he had a lot of class.

      @@EbonysUnderAttack Great defensive players on that Laker team, outside of Cooper? I can’t think of any. I guess Kareem.

      So 40 year old Kareem was a great defender?

    Which game would you recommand to see Cooper defensive impact at his best?

    • @CooperShowtime

      I think it's hard to pick his best impact, besides the obvious growth as an NBA player with the experience. He has been pretty regular throughout his career in terms of defense IMO. Probably in the first seasons his impact is like the key to boost the team from the bench bringing defensive quickness and explosiveness, reaching every ball. Then established as a reliable player you can see more intimidation and mental game on defense in the following seasons.
      Currently, I upload mostly from his first seasons so check out his career-high 7 steals vs Boston Celtics (th-cam.com/video/SrvU4D3IiTo/w-d-xo.html) is fantastic, you can see that quickness, anticipation and positioning.
      Besides that, I really like this one (th-cam.com/video/h9ZqJaQhuQk/w-d-xo.html), the legend and one of the best defensive players ever, Mr. Bill Russell praising a young Michael Cooper is awesome.

      @@CooperShowtime Thanks, I will definitely watch it. I love that you makes these videos about quite forgotten Showtime Laker. Coop was so good to watch, there'd have been no Showtime Lakers without him!

      Thank you, appreciate the comment. For sure, I really enjoy watching the games and contributing to sharing and honoring Coop's legacy.
      By the way, I took a look at your channel and you uploaded nice vintage basketball gems, well done too!

    Jordan was ordinary without Stern and Pippen

    • @RatedRex1
      @RatedRex1 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jordan averaged 28 points as a rookie. And then 37 points in his next full season without Pippen. In Pippen's rookie year, Jordan averaged 35 points; he was the MVP and DPOY. So your cute comment makes you look ignorant.

      Ordinary? Did u watch that game? He was mostly doubled and tripled team, especially in the second half.
