L'Arc-en-Ciel (French, 'The Rainbow', is a Japanese rock band, founded in Osaka in 1991. With a reported 40 million records sold, they were the first Japanese act to headline at Madison Square Garden. In 2003, they were ranked 58 on a list of the top 100 Japanese pop musicians by HMV Japan.While they first got their start as a visual kei band, they have not had any association with the movement since their major label debut in 1994
FUN FACTS about band
- L'Arc-en-Ciel celebrated their 25th anniversary with two shows (April 9 and 10) at Tokyo Dome. Only 110,000 seats were available for the almost 600,000 fans who signed up for the ticket lotteries
- In February 1997, drummer sakura was arrested for heroin possession. He officially quit the band on October 4, 1997. When news of sakura's arrest became public, the group's CDs were removed from the shelves in record shops
- Their show in New York was originally scheduled to be at The Theater at Madison Square Garden on March 23, but was later moved to the main arena. Making L'Arc-en-Ciel the first Japanese artist to be the lead act at the legendary venue.

Perfect timed reaction, this band is 30 years old this year. Though technically while considered still active and they do a lot of lives and tours, they last album was in 2012 so it was a long time they released anything.

i missed Larc and looking at their old concert stuff before stumbled upon your reaction video here. wow i'm really glad you guys doing it. this is an old song released in 1992, when they were still indies. i have been a fan since 2006 and didn't realise how much time has passed. to see new people appreciate L'arc's music is really special. btw i was at this concert. it was held in 2011, a few months after the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami disasters. the 2-day concerts which was meant to celebrate their 20th anniversary turned into a tribute concert. and we were honoured to be part of it. they poured their heart and soul here as they sang for the fans who didn't make it there and for the people who had perished.
L'Arc en Ciel is a legendary band, but if you guys want to get a taste of their _good_ stuff, definitely check out their first three albums (Dune, Tierra, Heavenly) as opposed to their more widely known work. This song (as if in a dream) is from Dune (great choice btw), but here are other songs you might be interested in:

@@dicodec Atsushi Sakurai their singer is another one of those situations where either Asian genes treat some people very well where ageing is concerned or my hypothesis there is a vampire in every other Japanese band. There always seems to be that one member that looks about twenty years younger than the rest of the band even though they are basically the same age.

New World, Killing Me, Ready Steady Go, Driver's High, Pretty Girl, My Heart Draws a Dream, Link...
Oh, and his band has an alternative formation, where the members change instruments and play the songs in a punk version. This formation is called "Punk-en-Ciel". It is also worth checking out!

I play bass because i got inspired from their bassist.
He is not the best in playing skills, but he works his magic through his lines. Great lines, but never too overpowering. Never sounded that he is trying too hard. Never sounded like an overkill nor it never sounded that he's overpowering other instruments. Always has a nice touch of melody and rhythm.

Nice reaction. L'Arc-en-Ciel is a truly legendary group. I remember how you reacted to the HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA. You wanted to check out HYDE then. As I can see you started doing it. He is the creator of many hits. However, I have a weakness especially for two tracks: the first is an acoustic version of a song performed with APOCALYPTICA
(VAMPS - SIN IN JUSTICE (from VAMPS MTVUnplugged 2016),
the second is a hit written by HYDE and performed by MIKA NAKASHIMA and many performers. I like it best when HYDE sings it.

L'arc en ciel was my favorite japanese band until Band-Maid (they haven't been releasing much anyway) but also... this is such a mellow song, quite old too, from their first album (Dune, 1993) so not good enough for you two to drown into their sound, I would suggest songs like:
- Shi no Hai
- Niji
- Blurry Eyes (silly with an amazing bass)
- Flower (one of my personal favorite, amazing bass)
- Hitomi no Jyuunin
- Jojoushi
- Honey (more and more bass)
BUT, Tetsuya is STILL my favorite bassist ever (I'm a guitarist who learned bass because of him), even over our dear Barefoot Assassin, MISA

Probably one of my favorite songs by them other than Niji. Honestly, they do not have a bad song. There is a bit of difference in the way Yuki plays the song and how Sakura plays it. Check out Niji, Bravery, The Rain Leaves a Scar.

Song is mute by native construct.
I listened to their album "quiet world" once and then went straight to go order their album. I've never bought an album so fast in my life. They are a prog metal group and all met through music school at Berklee and it absolutely shows. They aren't together anymore which actually really freaking sucks.
I consider myself new and young to prog but they are in my opinion, next level and nothing like I've ever heard before. A breath of fresh air. I don't want to be annoying and pester but I will definitely keep recommending them in your future videos here and there lol.
Edit: quiet world is also a concept album so its super cool and intriguing to figure the message/theme/story when listening through the whole album
