Nice! I live on the water so its always windy which makes priming outside a pain in the ass. Awhile back I started getting Army Painter's brush on primer, and while good, it only comes in a mid gray color, so it's nice to know there is a white alternative. I see this stuff all the time in the art store when I'm getting glaze medium, and never even looked twice at it. Definitely gotta try it now.
@@riot_of_flowers725 oh shoot I thought I replied to this already, my bad! I’d imagine it’d be tricky to paint if you live on the water? With the waves and everything.
Nice video to see how gesso applies on models. I wanted to try out model painting without spending a big amount and then ending up not using all the stuff if I decide not to pursue it further. So white acrylic gesso was the best thing I could get locally without spending citadel prices. Obviously cans or airbrush give more even results but this seems to be a great alternative if you can't easily order urethane-base primer or don't want to use spray cans.
I tested a dip primer for a while, but the result was not optimal. Could be an option there. If u got the space, a cheap airbrush is good long time Investment (in the long run cheaper than Aerosole cans) with faaaaar better results and many more opportunities.
That's exactly how I painted my old Necrons and I loved the result.

thanks for watching! It's a useful alternative for different situations
Great tips on using gesso. A fully painted model with a gesso base looks great.
Thanks! I was a bit skeptical at first but it works well! I might revisit this topic showing how to do a dark gesso prime.

Yeah at the moment I don’t have the space but an airbrush is something that I’d like to get eventually! Thanks for watching!
Interesting video...
Black gesso exists too.
i should get some, that would save a lot of time, thanks!
what paint are used after applying gesso.?
I use water based acrylic paints, like Citadel Colour or Vallejo.
@@rey-o can i use cheap paint...?
You ever try this with a big ole brush?
I have used a big ol’ brush, for larger models or vehicles. Thanks for watching!
Have you been trawling eBay for these old models 😉
Good for you 👍
lol most of these are just stuff from the backlog that have been sitting unpainted for years, decades even
@@rey-o I have a few of those myself but around 2005-2009 I did have mad eBay sessions collecting stuff 😮😞😒
Got any hot tips for brush on primer? Or do you like using it? Leave a comment below!
...I use a wider, shorter bristled brush, it gives more control and even coverage.
The self-leveling and shrinkage of Gesso is amazing.
@@TheGamerZapocalypse yes I’m always amazed at how it levels and shrinks! I should try some brushes like you mentioned.
