  • Before I continue i'd like to remind everyone that I made this in a couple of hours, the balance is all over the place in this mode right now but I'll have it fixed before it releases. :)
    Anyways yeah I'm working on adding Firefight to the mod ontop of Campaign and Multiplayer. The mode will feature all the enemies and weapons from ODSTs Firefight and thanks to 343s amazing work on MCC you'll be able to customize waves so that they'll only include Elites, Grunts, Jackals and the Flood for a true CE Firefight experience! As noted before this is only a couple hours worth of work, a lot of things still need fixing up and improving with the AI's movement through the different levels and balance being the most notable. Oh and the flood atmosphere looking bad on the skybox is something I'm not sure I can fix.But yeah, Firefight is coming to Halo 3: Combat Evolved in the near future! :)

    Oh one more thing, there was more music tracks suppose to play (and much louder) but for some reason it only decided to play the same 2 tracks for starting a round/during the boss wave. The music at the end was suppose to also be boss music but oh well, it'll be fixed for release!
    EDIT: Flood waves will also have their own specific themes instead of using the regular wave music 👀

    Oh, Ambient Wonder playing at 5:25 made my day. One of my all time favorite tracks from the Halo soundtracks, happy to see it incorporated into the mod.

    I hope you'll have the opportunity to take a look at the Flood's AI behavior. I'm afraid it will be very difficult to recapture the nuances of fighting them in CE. Their nigh invulnerability to melee, their limited mobility, their locational damage, the animation tell when they enter rigor mortis and won't reanimate again, the way infection forms swarm and pop each other, even the small chance for carrier forms to carry grenades, although that can be kind of annoying. All of this forced you to adopt a completely different and much more defensive mindset as the game unexpectedly hard pivoted into the survival horror genre. I don't think they've ever fought better since, so getting this right is important. I also noticed a continuity error with Gravemind dialogue playing before a Gravemind is formed

    I don't know if VISR belongs in CE. Not only does it dull the colors on your beautiful map, but it also breaks the experience vs using a flashlight.

      I liked the implementation of it in spv3 as an optional pick up, but since odst doesn't have a "flashlight" option unless she backports the H3 flashlight or makes a new functional one visr is, as far as I know, the only way to light up the map.
      Perhaps if she can get a flashlight working a visr reward in firefight could be an alternative?

      You will be able to pick and choose between the flashlight or VISR mode down the line, i'm working on it :)

    343 should hire you and just let you work your magic. You'd breathe much needed life into the franchise just with your work of remastering MCC stuff.

    Absolutely love this. Every time you upload I am impressed. One suggestion I would make is that I think a flashlight would feel more Halo CE than the ODST vision, but I understand its usefulness.

    - I get that you have the VISR, but the map could use brighter lighting
    - the left hand is spazzing out a little around the wrist during the shotgun reload

    If there's something I wish for MCC is for all games to feature Fire fight. I know it's easier said than done (programming it, making and testing the maps, etc) but I would love it on Halo 3.
    Some modders have made it for Halo CE but I wish for official support, just to stream line gameplay; allow for gameplay rewards from it (challenges and stuff) among being able to cross play with PC and console. And it would be easier for modders to simply make maps for it rather than either making it from scratch or rely on an one made by someone else.
    Maybe one day, maybe.

    VISR is an amazing addition like i mentioned on previous video, but is there away to tone down it's brightness? because the maps likes The Library, 343 Guilty Spark has it's artistic style in dark abandoned yet futuristic atmostphere, i hope there will be workaround for VISR so it would not break the atmostphere like CEA did.

    I still miss the radar...
    Also as a side note, have you had any progress with the visr time limit?
    I can imagine being in the middle of a fight when your visr turns off and you can't see the enemies well because of the fog would be chaotic.
    Lastly I hope you can import the shields vfx for first person view and the shields sounds effects, I am no modder but at least I hope it's just as easy as replacing the default character sound effect for taking damage with the energy shield one.

    A quick couple of questions:
    1. Did you alter the H3 Flood behavior to better match CE?
    2. Did you change how the damage tables work against them so that melee does practically nothing to them like in CE?
    3. Since you’re using Halo 3 as a base, and the Flood from it, can you melee the infection forms like you could in CE or does that behave the same way it does in Halo 3?
    CE Flood are my absolute favorite to fight, so I’m very curious if you changed much about them to better fit how they are in CE.

      @@Kashiiera awesome! Might have to look at getting myself a PC to play this once it’s all finished. My biggest gripe with Floodfight in ODST is that it’s Halo 3 flood as opposed to the ones from CE.
      I also might suggest adding a couple of the Halo Reach Firefight features to the version you’re making, such as:
      -Red, Blue, Yellow Skulls
      -Expand the “Spartan Traits” tab
      -Potentially adding more flood options to the “Wave Properties” such as “combat forms (without weapons)” Coventant Combat Forms (with/without weapons), etc.
      That being said, this mode looks so fun as is! I can’t tell what it is, but the pathing of the Flood AI is much better than base game for firefight, and the map seems to really suit the enemies. I’d be interested to know if you increased the amount of enemies that can spawn in each wave, because it seems like there’s more than in base game

    I'm going to assume a lot of the weapons here are only going to be in Firefight. It would be pretty weird for Brute weapons to inexplicably be in campaign. That being said, are there any plans to incorporate weapons like the Carbine or Sentinel Beam into campaign or no?

      Yeah most of them are for Firefight only with the exception of the sentinel beam which will be featured in Campaign, not sure if I'll include the carbine though since I know people will punch air if I do lol

    I'm sad for my H2A Elites, like a can't take the H3 Elites seriously lol, but anyways this is amazing, but I have some suggestions:
    1. Use the H2A model for the Jackals, it isn't that different but it looks way more high-quality and the energy shield doesn't look like a potato
    2. Try to make the Grunt skin more darker, just like in HCE, also you could use the H2A Heretic Grunt head attachment to restore the full head mask the HCE Grunts used to have, it was very weird that Saber added that detail for the Heretic Grunts but not for the normal ones lol
    3. It would be awesome to see more Halo CE enemy amor variants, like the Grunt with the cylinder backap (you could use the Halo Reach Grunt Ultra/Heavy backpack for that), the different variations of Elite amor like the differents helmets, shoulders and armored arms, and also the different type of Jackals skin color (like the dark skin Jackals)
