    Not sure if it's been mentioned but not being judgmental of someone's home is so important because you don't want to embarrass your customer and you also want them to like you. First impressions are everything. Even if you do a great job the client will not call you again or refer you if you made them feel bad. I've had a customer thank me for not being judgmental and it made both of us feel great. I've been working for her for years and she still occasionally thanks me!

      I agree with you 100%. Here is the reason why - after the cleaning, the house cleaner goes home, but the homeowner still continues to live in the home left behind. They need to feel that their home is their safe space. If they feel condemned or shamed, it makes living there uncomfortable. Don't be the person that makes others feel uncomfortable about their home. Thank you for bringing up this very valuable lesson. 🙏

      I would respectfully suggest adding electrolytes, protein and fats to your smoothies. Fruit sugars can spike blood sugar, resulting in corresponding lows. You need to keep your blood sugar stable, in my experience. I have had to feed my housecleaners a balanced meal

    Have you done a video on how you take breaks within your work day? I don't have breaks in my jobs but then long jobs like five hours or 8 hour cleans I really abuse my body and its not good....but I never know how to put that in the agreement, or how to handle that.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have a program where we work in chunks up to 4 hours. At the end of the 4 hours we are mentally and physically ready for a change of pace, food, and a break. If we have homes that run into 8 hours we split it up into two separate days. That way it is not overwhelming to the cleaner or the homeowner.

      Thanks, Jean for bringing this up. It's amazing how a cleaning company can really set itself apart by being reliable. Who knew it was that simple? Congrats to you and your husband, it sounds like tag-teaming it over a couple of days is a great idea. I'm proud of you. 👏👏👏

    I think from the point of view of a client, especially one who is new to having professional cleaners come into their home, possibly when they are not there, the #1 No-No (which is probably so obvious you didn't even think you had to say it) would be stealing or abusing the client's property. That includes a sip of the milk from their fridge, a power nap in the client's bed, the candy bar that's been in the same spot for the last three weeks (but that, unbeknownst to you, they were looking forward to having on their birthday tomorrow). I'm sure you wouldn't do that, but hey, sometimes you have to be explicit about these things.

    • @Shananana99
      @Shananana99 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Blah!! I Cannot drink other peoples milk, disgusting. If your housekeeper did those things, horrible.

    • @SabrinaSerigne
      @SabrinaSerigne 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Wow! If you have to even explain to your hired cleaning personnel that they are not to do the obvious like take advantage of your personal space they by no means are fit for your home therefore you need to fire them.
      Many won't like what iam saying but this is absolutely true. Its extremely obvious that noone should be taking anything they didn't purchase, or napping on a mattress that does not belong to them. How professional is that ?. Fire them.

    • @A.Rose.G
      @A.Rose.G 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When I was a very young teenager a housekeeper brought her child with her and the child stole my prized watch from my rarely seen but very loved aunt. I would leave it by the tv when I was in school. And another time the housekeeper took a little plate from a set of six on a shelf left to me by my grandparents. I never forgot this...still flash on it once in a while. My working mother never said anything to her. I have never fully trusted anyone in my home since. Do not take anything.
      On a positive note, a different, thoughtful housekeeper broke a candy dish and replaced it with the best match she could. I still remember this fondly years later.

    I know a house cleaner who thinks she is always right. I have told her multiple times not to use Windex or any window cleaner on her customers' LCD Flat Screen T.v's it's been proven to ruin them. Her response is always "I've been doing this for years, it hasn't ruined any t.vs". . I just let her go on, no reason trying to prove she's wrong, she doesn't watch that t.v.'s her customers are probably trying to figure out why their screens have burned out spots, missing pixels, etc. Not realizing it's because she is using improper products on them.

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It is possible that she has done it for years with no problem. Some TV screens are glass. Some aren't. Lots of the newer models are more like film. I hope her ego and unwillingness to adapt to new technology and surfaces doesn't become a costly ignorance for her or her business.

    • @Kelli_D.
      @Kelli_D. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AskAngelaBrown Yeah I found out she did it when I asked her how she cleans them because when I got mine I bought a special LCD screen cleaner at the store when I bought my t.v. - the worst mistake I ever made. Ever since the 1st time I used it like 8 years ago it smeared the screen all up and those smears won't come off and now when I wipe it off with a damp Microsoft cloth, it just makes it worse :/ I told her I miss the old days of tube t.v.s and using Glass cleaner. That is when she told me she uses glass cleaner on her client's LCD screens.

    • @ericacrumpton905

    There is nothing worse for ANYBODY'S overall, long-term health than keeping your blood sugar chronically elevated. Fruit sugar will do this just as much as any other sugar. To keep your blood sugar lower and STABLE eat satiating amounts of protein and fat at every meal. Then you won't need to snack between meals or mainline sugar throughout the day. And you'll feel better, improve your health and maybe lose a pound or two :)

    Complacency was a great one for me to take note of and recognize in myself. Sometimes doing empty homes they all look very similar so in your mind you feel like you already know what to do and how to get it done. It's true. Complacency will cause you to get complaints. To solve that I tried to mix residential cleans in my work week between the commercial cleans. Believe it or not the residentials seem like a vacation..lol. my eyes get to see pretty pictures and furniture. Another great thing about mixing the week up is that you can get the immediate rewards of customer compliments versus commercial jobs where they feel like if they pay you that's good news... LOL

    WOWZ if the energy one isnt true. I was trying to beat my best sales week and was working so hard. I told my mom I didn't feel well. She said try to push through. So later that day i ended up almost fainting at this persons house, had to reschedule with them, and had to call of my two cleans for the next day and reschedule those as well. Tying hard to make more only resulted in me actually loosing money. and having to turn down jobs! You cant work yourself to the core all day long thinking and draining. I was non stop thinking and moving for the past 7 months since I started. Finally all caught up to me.

    I clean with my neighbor. It’s her company but I really hate how she cleans. She used to seem more thorough but now I start feeling like I care more than she does. I do mostly commercial cleaning with her and she’s constantly telling me to skip dusting (supposed to “feather dust” once a week) or more times than not she will skip using the mini vac (to “sweep” before mopping) so we’re pushing the dirt other debris around with the mop... there are many more examples but I don’t know what to do. The customers still seem to be happy but I can’t stand skipping for weeks then having to work twice as hard when she does decide to do whatever it is we’ve skipped. Do I question her about it and let her know that it really bothers me to not work with the best integrity or just keep telling myself that this is her contract and just do what I’m told? It puts me in an awful mood

    • @AskAngelaBrown
      @AskAngelaBrown  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it bothers you that much maybe you should talk to her. It is her company, but it's making you uncomfortable and changing your mood. Sleep on it and make a choice. Do you want to continue to work for her and continue feeling awful?

      Can't understand that mentality and also the type of client who has clean house then sets traps for a cleaner. I like the person who has the need for a cleaner and leaves cleaning, so that I get job satisfaction. In fact the crumbs on floor, dust, dirty bathroom and even dishes in the sink is a good clean. What I hate is wondering why they want the house done and then finding all their ridiculous traps all round the house, to make sure I clean their clean bathtub or dust under a vase in a clean surface. 🤔

      Nanci E. I make mine with spinach, blueberries and bananas, sometimes I substitute mango for bananas and strawberries for blueberries, you can make your own recipe, smoothies are great!!!!
