  • Hello, hello! I am SO excited to be starting a new series sharing my perspective, tips, reflections, etc. at the conclusion of my first year of teaching. In today's video: all things teaching portfolio! I tried to answer every question, but might have missed some here or there. Please drop them all down below and I will answer as best I can. Any other "teacher tips" topics you'd like to see? Let me know. Love y'all, mean it!

Hi! What fonts did you use for the title and subtitles? I want to use the same ones for my portfolio that I am beginning to create. I love them but can't find them myself! Thank you!

Wow this is so eye opening! I am going into my senior year of undergrad and I am definitely going to be working on this before I hopefully get an interview. We have not discussed a portfolio at my university but I think this definitely makes you stand out. Thank you so much! ❤️

Thank you for this video! I’m in the process of looking for a job and I needed to revamp my portfolio that I made after I graduated in December.
Have you thought about adding a “remote teaching” section of your portfolio? Hopefully we will never be put in a situation like this in the future but do you personally think that schools in the future will be interested to see what you did as far as remote learning while in an interview?

I loved this video! I just accepted my first teaching position in first grade last week in Austin, TX! I've started rewatching your classroom setup series to get excited about it! I've heard you talk a lot about your compliment chart for positive behavior management. Could you do a whole video or talk about it sometime? I'd love to know more about it because it's definitely something I'm interested in trying my first year. Thank you!!

Hey Lauren, I was wondering if you could share that "sample classroom setup" link that you mentioned? I'd really love to take a look at the site!

Do you have the link for the classroom design tool that you used?? Looking to create my own and struggling to find the best tool!

This just takes me back and refreshes my memory so much! Thanks for this video Lauren! You are SO put together, it's truly inspiring. I will definitely be taking some of this time to update my portfolio. I eventually plan to leave my school when I move and start a family. Now that I have been teaching for four years, I am planning on including my Personal Development Plan (Yearly teaching goals)! You're right, some schools will care greatly about this and others won't, but it is so much better to come over-prepared! AND I love how you included all of your certificates. I never know what to do with any of those, now I do!!

Thanks for doing this! I recently made a digital portfolio out of a google site because I am interviewing right now in the middle of this mess so a paper copy doesn’t apply! I had made a paper one last summer when you first talked about it. Great to see what you include!

I loved this video. Most of my portfolio is already crated, inspired by Michelle Ferre as well. I am hoping to get a position this year, but I am so anxious about the hiring process and the start of the school year due to COVID. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Do you have any thoughts on trying to use your portfolio during Zoom meeting interviews? I was ready for in-person interviews and sharing my portfolio, but that will be difficult via Zoom.
