Just received my unit. What an awesome laptop. Glad I got to watch your review in time for me to return the 9430 and get the 9440 instead. I also had a chance to look at the 7440 and used the Thinkpad X1 Yoga (gen 5, 2022?) while waiting on this. There are no two ways about it - in terms of appearance, the 7440 looks antiquated compared to the 9440. Also loving how silent the 9440 is under balanced mode. The Thinkpad Yoga was great too, but the 9440 definitely looks more modern and the touchpad innovation is clever (I use Zoom a lot). Thanks again for the insightful review.

Great to read your thought about this machine. I wonder how does 2560 × 1600 native resolution feel like on a 14inch laptop. What I have understood is for a 14inch laptop 1920 x 1200 resolution gives a much better experience. Your thought from the real machine that you have with you?

@@abhishekomprakash4074 Thanks. Text is definitely sharper on the 2560 × 1600, and you can see more of the websites on the screen. But at the end of the day, I think I would be satisfied with a 1920x1200. It would not be a deal breaker for me.

Hi, @ecobranon thanks for your thoughts. What spec was the Lenovo? I am on the fence with these two units. I like the better display and touch pad on the Dell, but like the port layout on the Lenovo. I am thinking of going the i7-1370p processor on the Lenovo, but think the OLED screen would be too much of a battery killer so would be stuck with the 1920x1200.

For a "business focused PC," the Dell Latitude 9440 2-in-one (2023) is perfect! I like pretty much everything about it from the 503 nits QHD Plus IPS display to the USB C port availability, the crisp 1080p webcam and built-in mics. There are some negatives of course, one of them being the rather weak audio quality of the built-in speakers as opposed to the MacBook Pro. The sound of the MacBook Pro sounds fuller in comparison. Other than the few negatives, this laptop is a serious contender and will get the work done at the end of the day. Excellent review once again Andrew!! 👍😁

I used a 9440 for about 3 weeks before I returned it to build a custom one with more RAM and the 5G modem. I would compare the speakers to a macbook pro in person, the comparison even being close is a huge compliment for Dell. By far the best speakers I've ever heard on any windows laptop. My T15 thinkpad's speakers sound like dell speakers you'd get bundled with a desktop back in the early 2000s.

I just bought one. Excellent laptop. Despite your comment on its speakers, I believe its speakers are actually the prominent features of it. The sound quality is awesome.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your great review. Just one thing I would like to ask you: In terms of battery life, I see different results in other reviews. Especially the one from ShortCircuit (7,5h) is basically saying that this is not state of the art.
    Would appreciate your feedback.

I know the comparison of most of the hardware is apples and paperclips, but I find it funny how Dell has figured out how to get up to 64 GB of RAM (albeit soldered) into a 14-inch laptop, but you can't get the much pricier Razer Blade 14 with more than 16.

Nice PC for the business user. Camera is good and so are the mics. Speakers sounded good. Users will appreciate the sound as most users will not have a Mac next to it to compare it to. Like having 3 USB-C ports. Very good display. Keyboard is good. In some ways this is what the XPS models are not. With all these nice things being said about this, the high price of this unit will be a big turn off to some users. Great review.

this laptop is everything xps line up should have been. Only major drawbacks are it is very expensive at 2k usd and 2230 ssd is pricey too double the price of 2280 in many cases which further adds to the cost as the laptop comes at 256gb based storage . I can't believe i'm saying this but at macbook air offers much better value at this price , it's cheaper if u go for similar config .

I have a Lenovo laptop which has power button on side so I can switch it on without opening the lid when it is connected to Thunderbolt dock. I have a Intel Macbook pro which doesn't have power button on side but I can turn it on without opening the lid by toggling the main electic plug switch button of charger off & on while it is connected to a Thunderbolt dock. Can I do the same with this laptop as I am planning to upgrade my Windows laptop?

I like the laptop, but the price and no USB-A port makes it not worth it. Even with a USB-A converter sold with the laptop. Executives and managers, biggest consumer of Dell 9000s series laptops, will eventually lose the USB-A port converter.
The slim Dell 7440 is better. Significantly lower price, same CPU, and has 2 built-in USB-A ports. Great for business analysts, consultants, managers, and executives. The Dell outlet store or Amazon has them between $1,000 to $1,500 depending on configuration.

Different core audience for different laptop owners.
      - MacBook Pro for video editors, photo editors, DJs, front-end website developers, or AWS cloud engineers.
      - Dell Latitude for executives, managers, legal analysts, marketing analyst, and data analysts. The 9440 version tends to go to executives and managers. 7440 version for analysts of any kind.

For a 3000 dollar laptop it should have 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports on each side of the device 4 total, because many people still have devices that require USB A, having to use dongles to go from USB 4 c port to USB A on a 3000 dollar business class highend laptop is really stupid and will turnoff many buyers. Maybe one USB c USB 4 port, but that's it. Least it has a headphone jack... 2nd issue is the keyboard and trackpad, looks cramped compared to last generation, last gen's keyboard has better ergonomics. People who go for a laptop like this don't really care about modern design language and instead want something fast reliable and comfortable. Last generations 9430 had 6400mhz ddr5x memory, why does this one have standard ddr5 6000mhz ram. You only get ddr5x when selecting 64gb ram, yet another ball drop. Another issue is lack of a microSD or fullsize sd card slot, it's really not that hard guys. Another thing is, put a bigger battery in there, legally, you can put up to a 99wh battery inside, make it thicker, better cooling and a large 99wh battery, offer it with the P series processors along with better cooling. For 3k, you dropped the ball.. At least have a 9940 plus model that also offers what I said above... I'd go for last Gen, but, the only good thing about it is the faster memory, keyboard, trackpad and port selection, that's it.

Their primary consumers tend to be business executives, managers, and analysts. From the research they have done, most of that consumer base needs battery life and decent CPU performance. For i7 11th gen, G series CPU made sense due to lower performance. However, with the more powerful 13th gen CPUs that consumer audience is in a great position with the U series CPUs. Once powerful enough, the focus switches to battery preservation.
