It's not that good for precision clean prints, vibrations amplify with moving masses and are harder to damp effectively. Furthermore, the mass displaced only grows when a large print is ongoing. Delta-style printers use a similar concept for displacing the extruder and nozzle head, but they use linear rails in vertical positions instead. Absolutely no rotation es required from moving parts (except of course for the belts).
