    The devs said they won't be abandoning this game in favour of rogue core, season 5 and 6 are already locked in, it will probably be longer seasons moving forward as I imagine they will work on one for its next season/update-release and then switch to working on the other and keep repeating.

      That's good to hear. I'm hoping to get into this soon so it would suck to get in around the end of the game's life cycle. But I wouldn't even mind the slower updates due to having so many goddamn games I gotta play anyways. Also, they're an indie company so it's incredible that they can do THIS much with only 32 people.

      I hope they just don't abandon the game because yeah, it's a full game, it's "finished", but so many things can still be added, so many things can still be improved, the game can go on for like another 5 years and still be fun to play, but the dev team juggling like 6 other things is mildly concerning

    I actually _like_ the rockpox stuff, even though it substantially increased my failed mission count. But my crew is less thrilled and glad to turn it off.

      I honestly never minded it, but I actually like it more since Season 4 increased their numbers when you disturb their hive. Before it was just a minor annoyance that didn't add much to any mission, but now it requires more attention and can actually be a threat. So now I treat it like any other mission objective, where I don't mind which ones we do as long as we're having fun together and everyone does their part. As it should be. People are so whiney.

      @@Vaguer_Weevil rockpox hive fine, that moving hive is the annoying one. Its hella tanky, it spreads roxpox around the ground so you cant ignore it, its a goose chase to foam it, it is fast as hell, most of the time it feels like foam is useless idk if its sucked mid air or what it deals 0 damage to the armour

      @@pepperbreath35 you have to foam the yellow dots on the shell to break it. rockpox are a blast if you're not with idiots. just two people can deal with them very effectively on haz 3 (my default difficulty). however, throw in people that have no idea what they're doing or that make life harder than it needs to be by using the vacuum before absolutely everything is foamed up and you will experience so. much. pain.

    would be neat to have customizable legendary borders. still not a huge fan of the red color & would be neat to see something like the mods implemented

      Yea I remember when I started the game, I felt that the blue diamond border looked much cooler than the red legendary ones... over time this bothered me less but I still think the red legendary one doesn't "stand out" as much as it should for being the final one, so more options for customization would be nice

      Still begging for utility customization too.
      Not asking for overclocks or even really skins, just paints would be amazing, hate having a nice blue set ruined by a green grapple hook or yellow platform gun.
      Also platforms should be different colour based on which mod you use, cause having to seperate my platforms that reduce fall damage from my friends which bugs avoid is uh... hard.

    For gunk seeds, what it changed is you can now juggle them as efficiently as everything else.
    Before the patch, if you tried to jump while sprinting and pick up a seed at the same time, you wouldn't be able to because you're airborne. But now you can.

    I feel like the only things I can think of for the game are making Harold not run too far from where you engage him so you can actually prep a place to fight him like other bosses in the game, and of course, fixing the issue of constantly tossing around the clean up items by giving the player a single slot for the item they use. That way you can't just have both the vac and foamer on at the same time but also you don't have to toss the thing to kingdom come just to shoot a bug that's attacking you.

      I wonder if the jet boots were supposed to help let you get away from the bugs, but: They're random, so it's a dice roll whether you get boots and Harold at the same time. If you could put the cleaners into a slot, then you'd be able to use your other mobility tools too, like Drills, Platforms, Grapple.

    Great summary and great editing as usual. it's important to take advantage of the video format and not just record a podcast with random gameplay: relevant clips, before and after comparisons, and graphics are unfortunately not as much of a standard as i'd like in the youtube gaming space. i love the attention to detail that you put into your videos, the backing music, the colored section headings, the dwarf holding the little screen, it all adds up to make a much more pleasant viewing experience. editing takes fucking forever and it's a lot of work but the effort is always noticeable even if it's not always appreciated.

      Thank you! This comment means a lot to me -- adding this polish takes a lot of time and effort, and when I'm deep in the trenches sometimes I second guess why I do it lol. I'm glad to hear that this effort does directly lead to a better viewing experience. Unfortunately I feel like TH-cam generally incentivizes quantity over quality if you're actually trying to make money off of it as a creator, but at the end of the day for me, I just want to push out content that I'm proud of sharing.

    The rockpox is still evolving says the audio file from the season terminal and infecting more local wild life. So I wonder what a rockpox dreadnought or Bulk Detonator would look like. Then pray that Karl comes to save my sorry a**.

    12:23 cant really blame EM discharge for promoting a 'campy playstyle' on the one class that builds static turrets lmao. Also, that's why having 2 smaller turrets is useful with that overclock.

      While playing engi, of course it's always a best practice to stay within range of your turrets so they can watch your back, but you can't deny that EM Discharge promotes this to a _much_ heavier degree. With EMD you're constantly kiting bugs through your turrets, and the best way to do so (outside of escort and salvage) is to set up your turrets in the smaller side tunnels, like what I was doing in the footage. This is much more turret-centric compared to most other engi builds, where maintaining light of sight is usually more than enough for even stuff like Turret Whip.
      If you're trying to maximize EMD's effectiveness, you also want to "float" the turrets to get the most out of their usable damage radius and then shoot some Bug Repellant platforms to funnel the bugs appropriately. This takes more effort compared to how I usually setup my turrets, so once I _do_ float my turrets, I don't really want to do it again later in the mission, so I end up just sticking to the same corner of the map for the duration of a mission like an egg hunt.
      Hopefully that helps clarify my viewpoint and what I meant by EMD promoting a "campy playstyle".

DRG (on high hazards at least) drastically encourages, or even demands, constant movement from the player to stay alive, so to be able to park more in one place and operate something of a campy playstyle sounds very unique. I'm glad to hear there's at least a few options for those of us who don't like running all over the place constantly.
      I guess I just never really gave the Stubby much of a try because of how much I love the other two primaries.

      i think it's fine if one unstable overclock for this gun promotes camping extra hard for engie. the way that swarms work and that they're present in every mission type means that it's always a valid strategy to try to camp (at least in vanilla) but it's not always the best idea for every situation and mission type. it's a weird playstyle and it's niche, that's fine for an unstable overclock.
      the real issue is that this is one of the only decent ways to build stubby (aside from EM refire). and there's another OC that feels almost exactly the same to use. so as a result this niche playstyle kinda crowds out the rest of the gun's build paths and makes it stick out a lot harder. the stubby OCs just need an overhaul but i dont think discharge needs to be changed, really, it just needs to be in a better context of other build options (like maybe a high-accuracy weak point build, a no-shock pure bullet hose build, a crowd control build based around the slow and DoT, an ammo efficiency option, maybe one more wacky one, and then a generalist electric damage build.)

    I'm always happy to see steps in the right direction from games I love. Notes on a few more things they could consider changing in future updates:
    1. Septic Spreaders don't need line of sight to shoot, making them very annoying on uneven terrain
    2. It'd be nice for the Re-Atomizer overclock for the coil gun to have some of the unintended bugs fixed
    3. Almost all rockpox enemies produce a rockpox cloud on death. It would be nice to have this be more limited to enemy types it makes sense for (exploders, praetorians, etc.)

    1. An option to make Molly stay at the place you called her to instead of walking after you all the time (maybe another keybind combination like shift+molly button)
    2. Option to make a secondary game save your main save (made a 2nd save once and continued playing on it, now the game gives me this save warning every time i log into the game). Bet you can do it manually by messing with the files but im scared im gonna break something.
    3. Also feel like lots of verified mods should be added/ added as options to the base game:
    - WEAPON HEAT CROSSHAIR
    - BUILD INSPECTOR
    - health and shield numbers
    - ammo % indicator
    - live mission stat tracker
    - remove particles
    - remove decals
    - message of the day/ stat track
    - damage text
    - combined resources
    - sprint by default, hold to walk
    - platform placement preview
    - show more promotion levels

      100% agree on how those mods should be added to the base game. i don't even care if they're off by default and you have to go dig in the options menu to enable them, but i play with many of the mods you listed and they've become indispensable to me. they did say on a dev stream something along the lines that weapon heat crosshair "goes against the design principles" of whichever dev calls the shots on that, which is... unfortunate to say the least.

      Number 1 big time. One time I was solo scout on haz 5 mining expedition, and had found shit for nitra. Out of ammo and entirely focused on surviving by kiting around a massive swarm of all the nasties, dodging stingtails, etc.. but even though I managed to mine Nitra on the move I couldn't deposit it in Molly because she kept being places I couldn't be b/c of the swarm. That was a slow death, that one.

      @@chanceIIors As much as I love the heat cross hair I can definitely understand the design philosophy of wanting the player to pay attention to visual signs in the game itself instead of adding another HUD. Plus, I think weapon heat is pretty well indicated in the base game and being able to easily look at the exact heat of a weapon without looking away from the bugs is really only useful in modded difficulties. That said I think the rest of these mods should be in the base game as a setting

    Weapon Maintenance is a cool idea but I wish they allowed us to unlock original weapon paintjobs to use for other weapons instead. I have used the cosmetics restriction removal mod and many of the base weapon paint jobs look a shit ton better than many we normally could use. For example Coil Gun paintjob is in my opinion best looking paintjob in the game and some others provide that clean silver metallic look that can not be found without using the mod. I find it irritating to lock those colors to be used for only 1 weapon because it feels like such a wasted potential and stubborness from GSG's part.

      This is a great idea - these paintjobs have so much potential when applied to different weapons and it's stuff that's already in the game! My friends and I also use the same mods and it's always fun when one of us finds a cool new paintjob + framework combo and we share the design with one another.

    As much as I used to hate stingtails, I do feel like they’ve been made almost completely useless. I think bringing back at least some of its tankiness and damage would help, and would make the now rare grab attack more devastating if you do get grabbed

      Idk, man, for every down I suffer on DRG, I feel like at least a third of them are still caused by STs. It's still a dangerous enemy, it just doesn't take a shower of lead to take down anymore.

      Agree. I think they’ve said before though that they prefer to overdo it then back off than to make lots of smaller changes, so this might not be the last tweak.

      @@moderateexistence377the amount of hp doesn’t make an enemy any more or less of a high priority target. I don’t mind stingtail getting some of its hp and rof back as long as only one can spawn at a time and it doesn’t yeet players into the air so hard while sitting somewhere on the ceiling. So that’s my main problem with this patch - GSG didn’t make stingtail less deadly they just made it just as deadly less often.

    Some perk reworks // buffs would be a welcome change.
    It's a bug thing could make lootbugs give increased nitra, gold, maybe even drop some red sugar.
    Shield Link could use some love. Maybe whenever you shield boost another player, they get reduced slows / rockpox / elemental damage.
    Beserker just needs a lower cooldown. They could additionally make the player have to power attack *twice* in somewhat quick succession in order to activate it, so you never do it accidentally.
    Friendly needs to just have more friendly fire reduction. 50% to 70 or 80% perhaps?
    Beast Master is a weird case. I think it would really benefit from showing a PROPER cooldown when your Steeve dies, since I believe it doesn't allow you to tame another grunt for a certain amount of time after your original Steeve dies. I also think you should be able to retame your Steeve, which could repair it's armour and restore to full health.
    I would also like the other niche armour upgrades to be changed. As it stands, the extra invulnerability frames when being revived is just the superior upgrade. If one of the upgrades triggered a shockwave to stun enemies in a 2.2m radius for 1.3 seconds, whenever your shield broke, that'd be nice (maybe not exact numbers, but just to visualize.)
    Also, an upgrade that gave dwarves a slight speed boost when dropping to fatal hp (whenever you get super low, and the game gives you back a slight amount of health) could be a good competitor.

      great ideas, there's been rumors that a perk rework will be coming in DRG's future. i'd love to see the devs give that entire system the care and attention it deserves so it's actually interesting to interact with, having proper tradeoffs and such!
      it's another example of something i wouldn't mind GSG devoting a lot of resources to, and then appropriately marketing as primary focal point for a future season.

      I find the changes for the "its a bug a thing" and "shield link" that you mentioned really interesting. It would be good if they implemented them mainly because they're gonna bring them back to meta . Everything else other than that it's just overkill and unbalanced. But because GSG is GSG and don't find it unlikely if they tried to make hazard 5 an autopilot autoclicker difficulty to give pleasure to players, that play the game on a slower phase, by moving up a difficulty.

    As I recall the satchel use to give +2 on resupply when carrying 3 but it was changed some time before season 1 dropped. I’m just happy I can go back to my preferred satchel build

    Stingtails and acid spitters always had some visibility issue, now that at least stingtails are easier to see, i feel like acid spitters need some better visibility, maybe it is a personal issue but i rarely see them, and instead just hear them shooting at you most of the time.

      Acid spitters glow in the dark though, and are red which makes them easy to see with most environments and swarms. I haven't had any issues seeing them

      Acid Spitters can and will shoot at you over cover (somehow???), which makes them pretty much invisible either way.
      This is likely what you actually mostly encountered, them behind the wall, rather than them being hard to spot

    I think the only thing better than a seasonal toggle switch is the ability to choose other seasons, especially if you didn't complete previous ones.
    Have you seen how big the cargo crate automatic bin has gotten?
    Also, I kinda miss the robot defusing thing

    I've really been enjoying the update a lot. Both the relief from the rockpox and the nerfing of the new enemies. Harold is not easy to deal with, but feels more in line with the Korlok Tyrant Weed, rather than something that was even worse. I've always enjoyed the challenges of the game and the random generation of enemies. I love your points at the end, and thank you for calling out the DLSS, I wouldn't have even known to look.

    I'm on console so I've yet to see the maintenance update in action
    I think implementing performance mods would do pretty well since I just upgraded to a series X from an S which was getting fps dips in Haz3p4 and near lithophage spikes
    This is sort of my first introduction to your channel and I thought this might be criticism for the sake of criticism at first but consider my position changed. New sub 🎉 Rock and Stone, miner.

    It feels like the season 4 enemies spawn WAY too often for how dangerous they are
    I see septic spreaders about 2-3x more than goo bombers despite septic spreaders being more dangerous most of the time

    I don’t quite remember how stingtails looked in darkness previously but I’d assume it wasn’t as bright as now because when I start looking for them after hearing any of their ambient sounds I can pretty often spot their red bits. I could still do that before though so maybe it’s more of a me thing.

    I rediscovered some major enjoyment by joining modded servers. It's less serious grinding and more wacky OOPS ALL DETONATORS and try to survive as the last remaining dwarf (no IW).

    The fact that GSG listens to their fans and actively takes our feedback into account makes me have their respect, unlike many other Triple A studios.
    As for suggestions, I still want to see a "training room" where you can test weapons without going into missions. Yes, I know there's mods, but I feel like such a basic feature should have been in the game from the get go.

    So i'm a complete outsider for DRG, hoping to get in soon (hopefully during the Winter Sale) after seeing some funny clips video and beginner guides, so some of this has gone completely over my head. But I gotta say, the fact that the devs are able to keep the game afloat this well with only 32 people is beyond impressive. It still baffles me that a live service game like this is run by an indie company. The biggest thing people can do to help is to be patient. But thankfully this community seems to be a kind one (shocking considering the modern internet), so hopefully people are understanding of their position.

    My only gripe with the weapon maintenance skins is that amy excess exp earned past a tier's required exp is wasted instead of varrying over to the next skin. Sure, its only 145k exp for all 4 skins on a weapon, but if i end up getting a 30k+ exp payout for a mission, but i only needed like 10k to finish a maintence tier, im annoyed that 20k exp hit the floor, even if you can get a skin in like 3 or 4 missions with even a minor hazard payout bonus or something like a tyrant weed or a machine event on a general mission. But getting q double exp mission or a pots o gold + gold rush long mission can all but complete any maintence skin in a single go (most ive gotten on a mission payout currently is like 40k on a double exp, lithophage outbreak that had a tyrant weed and a machine event on top of a crassus detonator; i usually fly solo and dont touch hazard 4 or 5 most of the time unless i have a red rock blaster)

    Greenbeard’s opinion on the cave leech sound issue, I kinda like it. Most of the sound from a cave leech WOULD come from the base, as it expands and contracts.
    I’d ask for a new, more quiet chittery sound that emanates from the freaky tooth-claw things.
    Meaning that even the most seasoned greybeards have something to fear, if they aren’t listening very closely…

      I think it may point to something of a problem that today was, quite literally, the first I ever knew that Cave Leeches were supposed to make a sound: My hearing isn't great, but as far as I'd been aware, they were totally silent. Like, I thought that was part of their gimmick.
      ... Bit of an oops in what is otherwise a pretty consistently excellent sound design in the game, eh?

    Great video made me jump back into the game. Customising flares would be great. Duration, quantity. break into clusters etc... Visuals too rainbow flares! Glow in the dark gnome flares! Unicorns with fire coming from their butts. Arcade game area on the space rig too (top score board kinda deal on some dwarven imitation of space invaders or something of the sort)

    I actually really liked the stingtail's weirdly hardy skin, requiring strong aim or heavy explosives, and it made it stand out as a particularly lethal enemy. Now it's just a grunt that sometimes annoys players only to die a moment later, which is pretty disappointing for an enemy that I think is really good in concept. At least the tail grab attack is right now.

    Great job! I fell off on DRG a few years ago after they added the rival tech (I used to play every day for like 1-2 years). I just lost interest with all the flying robots. I play for the bug hunt feel. I've been giving it another go the last week or two because of your videos.

    I'm like a 100 hours into DRG and rockpox hate comes as a complete surprise. I've been playing with randoms and don't follow any social media for the game, so I never knew people disliked it. I do get stingtail nerfs and running after the big tentacle blob with a vacuum is a bit tidious, but i like this season content a lot. Maybe I just haven't played enough of it yet

    My main wish for drg currently is for the Devs to implement some optimisation mods into the core game. Stuff like turning off particles amd flares, low-poly enemies, things like that. It would help some of us toaster gamers immensely and it doesn't seem to be something that would take much work considering the mods have already done it and the main thing they do is disabling stuff.
    Then there's accessibility mods like the glowing secondaries and the HUD heat indicator. Those should also be implemented. I don't consider glowing secondaries to be cheating.

      I agree with you but these are not low dev time processes. There are very few that are. As a general rule even simple changes to an established system take a lot of work on backend.

    There's like four devs I can think of off the top of my head now days that I'd say are "Doing it right".
    But it's five now.

    I recently promoted all of my dwarves and found I was disappointed when there wasn't a substantial addition of gear tech unlocks. I think adding a tier of gear unlocks for each promotion that do even more odd things to mix and match would add a large amount of replayability and individuality to each miner's play style. It'd be tough to balance, but it really would vitalize the game's popularity and revitalize veterans' fun playing it.

    i think its important to note that the devs have responded to claims about deep rock being overtaken by rogue core by saying that its not being developed as a direct sequel or replacement for deep rock. That said its existence does make me worried about splitting the playerbase, or rogue core going dead from people sticking with drg.

    rockpox has never been an issue for me. I enjoy the changes in gameplay the enemies provide and it never gets frustrating when i die because it's still just proves my positioning needs work.

    The issue with the kill tracker would be the bestiary tracks ALL kills, not just yours.
    it just tracks what dies in a mission, not what you kill, or even your teammates kill.

    Now that they added a leveling progress to your gun wouldnt it be cool to have the same for overclocks? Now you can level a specific overclock but depending on which type of overclock you want, it take anywhere between 1 mission to 20 or so mission for unstable and the overclock event will either be replace with an exp injector or allows you to use thay very overclock for that one mission giving you a test for it, at the end you will still need a blank overclock to dump all that exp into it to actually make it

    I think the way to make the litho weapons not annoying would be to combine them into one, replace the mine button with suck when holding it, though if they did this i could keep it the same in multiplayer to encourage team coordination

    I want Friendly to reduce damage to _self_ as well as teammates and Steeve. Would enable the kind of kamakaze playstyles I enjoy, and would be great for rocket jumping.
    I want more types of Dreadnoughts to fight.
    Engie's platform gun and PGL should have Disabled Inertia Inhibitor as a toggleable option, not as an upgrade I can never pick without reducing it's capabilities. Alternately, the guns should just work that way by default.
    I would really appreciate it if, when joining a mission late, I could click on the dwarf that I want to play, and then the loadout I want to use, and then some sort of a "Continue" button. Having to first hover the dwarf, _not_ click him, then select my loadout, and then go back and click on the dwarf is very unintuitive to me and even after all this time can lead to misclicks where I first click on the dwarf-and then am sent straight into the mission with Karl-knows-what loadout.

    Bit of a L take on the content toggle. Whilst I agree that it should be available earlier (lvl 35-50), it shouldn't be at level 0 otherwise people might skip the seasonal content entirely. also it doesn't set a precedent of bad future seasonal content, ghost ship is better than that. there's just no point in removing it in future seasons. Its a contingency, not something our sweet European lads are using as a crutch.

    I think making all past season content slightly more common would help. I only started playing in season 4 and have about 6 days playtime spent in missions, i have killed a handful of prospectors and nemesis and only hacked like 2 data core things.
    Like the issue with rockpocks was its was practically every mission be it a big meteor, a small one or harold. And the issue with past season content is its not frequent enough.
    Like i think they overall just need a better balance when it comes to past season content in missions like there has to be a more middle ground than nuked out of existence or overplayed to death. Like maybe ever 1/20 missions should have past season content in. Idk we can argue about the exact number. But i think just giving all past content a buff to appear would help.

    Stingtail might have gotten nerfed though I noticed post update that now both stingtails and spreaders can spawn in the same mission (before it only seemed to be one or the other for a mission though I typically play haz 3 or 4). I was playing a haz 4 and having 3 stingtails, 3 spreaders, and all the regular bugs all at once made it feel harder.

    To actually add a gear modification to the high intensity flares or make it so you can change the colors cuz I'm a gunner Main and it's a pain with the green light when you're trying to get the green kyber crystals you know the jadiz I play the game with my friends or by myself and Bosco doesn't really help with light too much when you're by yourself so adding gear modifications to the high intensity flare to increase the time that they last or the intensity the lighting of them a bit not too much so it doesn't like go against needing a scout but just options to make it so they actually have upgrades it's the one thing I've been wanting for a while because they're in the equipment terminal but you can't do anything with them I wish you could thank you for reading this long rant about high intensity flares

    Players are much more willing to deal with bugs and balancing issues if the developers show that they are listening and also aren't doing greedy cash grabs.
    Seriously, the fact that they have a way to monetize their game without anyone being upset is just such a breath of fresh air that we all are much more okay with other issues because they are human and trying to not be evil and at the end of the day that's all we ask for.

    You can’t button mash on console anymore, it’s bugged assuming there’s no delay on inputs lol and missions seem to be nerfed. I get double xp and modifiers must be random but 3 yellow mods and more than half no modifiers, I’ve never seen that before the update. And this is with season 4 toggle not being touched. Unfortunate

    I had no problems with the spreader, my only probelm with the stingtail was when there was a stingtail slightly above you and when he grabbed you he decides to shoot you up to the moon, the amount of times i died because of that is infuriating, but that was my only problem with thm

    It'd be great if they changed the rockpox and ice struggle buttons on console from using the stick to L1/R1 (LB/RB on Xbox)
    Dead by daylight made the same change a year back to help make it more comfortable and it was great

    yeah ngl the update did bring me back but man i left right away into the rockpox so i have most of the pass to grind through to stop it and ngl its already killing my enthusiasm. idk why just never really clicked with it and it made the game more annoying for me then anything. props to them for working on it tho and i hope they continue to do so

      @@gagooooooooooooooo Bro, that's leaf lover behavior right there. Why on earth would killing bugs that could damage you in the meantime be a kickable offense? Everyone gets the same exp and credits at the end of the mission. You can already use mods on pc to track your stats while in game. And realistically, everyone knows that kills don't really matter, especially when your playing with a build meant to specialize in taking out priority targets, which most of the time is Scout. No self-respecting dwarf complains to a Scout about their lack of kills, they might complain when they're blind and don't mine marked minerals or shoot their flares, but even that is usually resolved with a proper "discipline" C4. Don't be a cringe kill score tree huger, they get bullied at parties.

    "Why not make the toggle available to all?". Honestly, if you're going to toggle it whenever, then why even have seasonal content? If you don't want to earn your way out of the season, which is actually not that hard to do, then maybe avoid playing rockpox areas. It's not hard to just pick a mission that doesn't include rockpox. Seems to kind of undermine the whole point of even having the season. Earn the rewards without engaging with the content seems kind of lame.

    4 satchel charges is a hard sell for me now. The 2nd +1 ammo mod is just so much less value than the 1st. With only 2 resupplies an entire mission, that first ammo mod gives 3 extra charges. I can still see the argument for a max damage satchel with only 2 max ammo, but the 4 max ammo seems like a waste of a mod slot when you're already getting the +1 satchel per resupply with just 1 ammo mod.
