Tips and tricks from a Scout player. Tip 1. Aim at the Wall, Not the plaforms. Tip 2. Always have either the hoverboots skill, OR the Dash skill. One stops your momentum saving from fall damage, the other extends how far you can fall (While Active) before taking fall damage making you take less damage total and pairs with the grappling hook by boosting travel speed AND gives you more mid air maneuverability. (Dash is the second one, double click the "sprint" command to activate it) Tip 3. Speed 4 Lyfe. Can't die to bugs if they can't catch up. Tip 4. Keep speech and music volumes low. You WILL get grabbed if you don't hear everything coming. And you WILL be alone when it grabs you. Curse of Scout is real. Tip 5. Flying pickaxe slam attacks are deadly. Don't forget you have a "break all armor and minable surface classes Free" button And the highest mobility in the game to get you close enough to use it. Tip 6. Get your timing down. If the room's high enough you don't need to land to grapple again Tip 7. Become Mountain Goat. No ledge is too narrow. Clambering mechanics are Great for resetting fall damage and stalling for the recharge between grapples. Tip 8. You're Tarzan, not Spider-Man. Launching yourself with a grapple is often safer (as long as you watch where you will land) than going all the way to your grapple point. It sticks, you don't. Tip 9. Ground = Wall. Falling sucks, shoot a grapple into the floor and don't let go. Zero fall damage every time. And as always, ROCK AND STONE BROTHERS.
I can agree with all of this. Even Tip 3 is the perfect reason to run SMGs + second wind. But my play-style says otherwise because of the reasons below. First of all, Tip 2 is bogus. Who needs extra movement to save you when you can't give up berserk and iron will. Tip 4 is bogus as well. I would rather get grabbed if I don't have to hear the hissing over the sick beats. Basically, I am chad scout to my detriment. Don't be chad scout unless you don't care about ammo or survivibility.
Tip 10. Avoid the D R I L L E R at all costs, you never know when this walking atrocity will decide to bomb you and your team, this creature has no problems with setting the you on fire or freezing and impaling you with an ice spear(this can delete 1/3 of a dreadnought's hp seriously, be careful if your driller has an ice spear)
@@perteks7639Dash is where it's at. Slightly extends the "safe fall" distance, grants a speed boost, and pairs with grappling hooks by improving mid air maneuverability. Scout main says, Dash for Days.

Something I love about this animation is that the gunner rolls his eyes, but still goes back to save the scout. Like “dumbass, I’m coming back for you tho.” True dwarfmenship
That feeling when one dwarf presses V and you go “don’t do that, you’re gonna start a rock and stone” but it’s too late, everyone’s already rocking and stoning
The very very subtle touch of them going up the zipline half an inch before it turns around, its so barely noticeable, but that's the sorta specific detail that you can only get from people who genuinely play the game a lot. Also had no idea you guys played DRG! Rock and Stone!
Ah the Scout, My second main class after engineer. Those early days felt just like that. Side note: Every class has those "carry" moments where every dwarf has the rely on the last goober of your squad still standing. It sometimes feels like im playing dwarf cod zombies when it happens to be me those times.
Wait why is this from the Hannah Daigle channel!? I've been playing DRG for years, but this is blowing my mind a bit. I never knew Scumhouse would know about this game
At first I wanted to do a 'umm actually' on the red laser asking for a platform, but as an Engineer i've done that so many times when my party spams that stuff I actually get it.
I loved the vibe checking of the other three miners at the beginning. Once the Driller Rock and Stone 'd, then they were all friends and all was merry. Beautiful.
As someone who recently picked up the game again after a two year hiatus and is a currently obsessed scout main, seeing this in my recommended made my day!
This felt fantastic. Those detailed backgrounds and subtle animation touches (like gunner adjusting the cigar with his mouth) were red sugar on top of a bittergem cake. Damn fine work.
What I find really funny is that the first ping on the mineral is red, which means the engineer started spamming pings on it BEFORE PUTTING A PLATFORM below it. Which isn't unheard of. But I still find it funny.

Inaccurate, they left a dwarf behind.
That's one real bad Exploder Infestation.
I love the 90's cartoon feel during the start
I love spending a zipline to get up to a platform just for a scout to grapple up there right before I get there.
I am a dwarf and I'm digging a hole
Diggy, diggy hole, digging a hole
And; Rock and stone, Brother!
Brothers of the mine, rejoice!
Raise your pickaxe, raise your voice!
We've all had that moment playing scout where we miss the platform, take massive fall damage, and proceed to get bombarded by glyphid artillery

ROCK AND ROLL AND STONE
What I find really funny is that the first ping on the mineral is red, which means the engineer started spamming pings on it BEFORE PUTTING A PLATFORM below it.
Which isn't unheard of. But I still find it funny.
I've been mainly helping new or casual players, and it seems to be quite common for the scout to forget he has the grappling hook or lantern
This is why my standard Scout loadout uses Special Powder. Zhukhovs may eat waves, but Special Powder gives you a second chance on a bad grapple.
As a scout main, this is completely accurate.
this always happens when you think your scout isnt going up to grab stuff, as soon as you zipline it he does his job

If Deep Rock Galactic got a TV show, this animation style would fit so well

Those backgrounds are beautiful, i wish the actual game looked like that!
I like how crotch shield looks like balls
Only thing I wasn't expecting was them going back down to save the scout instead of Driller just throwing C4 down there to "help"
That would have been my reaction. It is nearly instinctual.
Amusingly, c4-ing a downed scout is usually useful, if only to clear out the gliphids trying to get at the sandwich in his back pocket…
I am a driller certified and I was hoping for that because it was something I would have done xD
Nah, the c4 goes when you need to overkill your team that's being surrounded by bugs on hazard 5
the unrealistic part is that there's 3 on the zipline.
The Driller is supposed to be inside the walls and the Engineer is supposed to get lost in some tunnel yelling about resupply for his platforms.
I love the backgrounds so much!
That annoyed look on the gunner during zipline is 100% true
As an Engineer main, I would 100% ping instead of platform for a minute. 100% accurate to real gameplay.
