Hahaha you were so nice to the lady saying it could be a fuel filter. Good on ya. Really nice work man! This kind of video is so exciting to me. It sounded great making boost and revving! Really hope this solves all your prior problems. :D
LOL! She watched me for about a month straight and would say, you're going to get this car running today and would pray for me to receive the knowledge to get it going. Seems like it! Running much cleaner and pulling quite nice. Next video I'll do some street pulls, in Mexico, but she's starting to spin the tires, even with 5 degrees pulled out to keep things safe until I get it to the dyno to see how much timing it'll like.
this. is. AWESOME. impressive job, Matt. the wiring loom, the way everything looks so clean and organized, I'm speechless. thanks for another interesting video and Happy New Year!
Love your content man. Theres not a lot of people who post regularly about chevy cruzes. Youve motivated me to work on my cruze. Just recently installed some zzp parts. My car is been running a lot better. Keep up the good work man.
Hi Matt, the gear wire you had is meant to go the gearbox. Some gearboxes (mine for example) has a first gear selector switch on it. Not sure yours has. Its to limit the boost in 1st so you dont destroy your dif. Ive got the switch, but havent it wired up as my dif & gearbox are pretty much indestructable. If you have the switch, i recommend wiring it in, as you have the (what we call over here) the chocolate box! Great vid tho, exciting times!!
You're right about that! With this model cruze and transmission, it doesn't have gear detection. I just thought it was funny they made the decision that it's a standard part of their wiring harnesses. The pin out of the FuelTech, once I entered what my needs were, some of the pins were taken up by the Gear detection wiring. Not a big issue and I'm sure at some point once I can afford a sequential transmission I'll make use of it.
Thanks! I'm happy I went with FuelTech. There's a couple small gripes that other ECU's have, but loving it thus far. Me too! I'll do some test and tune stuff at the 1/8 here locally, but in order to not break anything, I'm going to seek out a 1/4 test and tune soon to really let her rip as I can dump in all the boost up top. Things break off the line with too much boost lol
Great vid!!! Im actually wiring my car with a Ft550 I had a FT450 and watching your video clarify a lot of loose ends like the VVTI and the start button, In my setup I cut the gear sensor cable and used it for the pedal made the changes in the ft manager no issues.
Nice!!! FuelTech was helpful in getting the triggers dialed in, but wasn't too bad of an install. Just be sure if you're going to trigger relays with the FT550, you have your relays wired as negative triggers.
Can't wait to see this in person. Been chipping away at my rsx just have to wire in my injectors, coils, and iat and coolant sensors then throw the battery back in and it should be ready to start 😊.
@@cmattdabrat finished most of the wiring last night. I just need to figure out how I'm going to connect the map hose to my intake manifold. Hopefully I can figure that out tonight or tomorrow and have it running by the weekend. Hopefully this year goes well and I can actually gets some parts for the damn thing
@@cmattdabrat ended up just hooking up my stock map sensor last night and got it started. Now I need button up the wiring, set the timing and keep moving forward I'm so stoked. Gonna take some time to teach myself how to tune it but man I've been waiting for this for a long time.
Thanks man! By showing the process of attaching a stand-alone aftermarket ECU to a modern day car, like the Cruze, you showed us the unlimited capabilities of swapping engines to this car! I wander if everything based on the BCM works somewhat similar to how came from factory (like power windows, interior lights, airbags etc.). I mean, just think about it Cruze fans! "What if" we could swap something beefy to this thing with an aftermarket ECU?
Everything functions the same! With the exception of the auto run lights seeing as I removed the stock instrument panel. Blinkers, horn, radio, windows... BCM is handling it all. Really just took control of the engine and the fuel pump. Solved all the issues I was running to with power cut.
@@cmattdabrat Thanks man! Waiting to see an update after fixing the issues with the idle! Hey Matt be careful with that new turbo I saw a guy that had the same one and when it would heat up the compressor wheel would lock up in the housing so if you loose boost and the car is hot that might be the issue

Should not adjust crank timing with a timing light boy you almost messed up.
You need to set base timing so it's correct in the ECU.
