The thing I love about Sean is how nonchalant he is. Even when he sees me looking through his windows he just says "nice mustache" and goes about his business crushing videos.

I watched a country music history on PBS one time that went through the all the old artist. I think they originally called that the Carter Pick. Enjoying the videos. beginner here that re-leaning after picking up the guitar and putting it down a long while back.

A C/G is spoken G over C or a C chord in the third inversion. The bass strum bass strum is also known as Travis Picking.

It’s taught in university as a C over G or like you said third inversion…or C w/ G in bass.
I agree it’s confusing as all hell to explain to beginners that a G over B is a G chord, not a B chord. But we read linear.

Sean, I'd love to see a lesson on the various ways to use right-hand muting for rhythmic variety. There seem to be some options there that are more interesting than simple stumming. Some folks seem to use fingernails to get more of a percussive rhythm. I appreciate these short, focused videos a bunch.

I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down'.

I was gonna make a comment with a joke about the Norwegian Wood riff, but then I thought, "oh, how cool would it be if Sean showed us Norwegian Wood, the country version?" Then I thought, "oh, how cool would it be if Sean just took a bunch of random songs, but played them in other random genres?" So sorry, Sean. I don't have a Norwegian Wood joke tonight. All I have are lousy ideas for youtubeshorts and tiktoks.

The secret to Country music in general is to put some decent music on, and turn it up until you can't hear the Country music anymore.

Seriously, take a year. Practice 2 hrs a day, skips the videos and make yourself a seriously incredible player.
Knowing theory helps but applying is the meat.
    You have the knowledge.
Now you’re lacking the skills which at this point is just a small climb away.

I used to be as a thick headed as you, but thankfully I got over that.
Kids, there's no harm in learning a trick or two. In fact it keeps you motivated and inspires creativity. So, sure, practice, but don't listen to the anti-knowledge purists because music is in fact a language and sometimes ya gotta know what a "verb" is, okay? :D
