We visited the home of Dianxi Xiaoge, a food vlogger from Yunnan who’s famous for her soothing cooking videos in the Chinese countryside.
She has over 11 million followers worldwide who tune in regularly to get a glimpse of life in rural China. She took us inside her home and village for a behind-the-scenes look at how everything gets made.

This video took me out of a lot of doubts, I always thought 'how is it possible that this girl and others like Wildgirl or Liziqi have jumped the fence of the government of their country having the opportunity to post on a platform like youtube? while in China using that platform or many others from the west is very difficult not to say almost impossible.

No surprise. It takes a ton of ambition, intelligence, grit and hard work to make something look so simple and natural and succeed so well. She’s a real gem and deserves whatever good fortune she finds.

She's also preserving the techniques,and style of life for future generations, it's a beautiful use of the platform,imho.
The interviewer is polite and genuine, but it also helps that Danxi is open, welcoming, and very eager to share her behind the scene stories. I like watching her videos the most because of its authenticity and down-to-earth feeling. Vibrant and warm colors, and wide shots of home and nature that naturally frames her and her family gathering. Unintrusive feeling; it's like we're literally peeking at the bond she and her family has over food. It's just so warm, and from this interview series, it's as warm as Danxi herself.

Exactly what I was gonna say. lol Been wonder if they make those into a bread or something. Dang their pigs are well-fed. I had the impression that they'd be given commercial feeds too or just random vegetation and left overs. lol

I love watching her. I think what she does is very valuable because the average person does not understand or associate how food was made "in the past" or garden to table. They eat meat and don't associate with an animal.

This girl is the real deal, when I watched the video with liziqi it was all secretive and I had the feeling she didnt want anyone to see what really happens in her "home". This girl shows us everything. One can see she really does everything herself and could explain everything. I'm so happy to have seen this video to see who really is the real one between the 2.

I dunno about real deal, I think both Ziqi and Apenjie are very talented and capable women who shoot amazing videos, but I've noticed myself gradually stop watching Ziqi's uploads whereas my love for Apenjie has just continued to grow, and it's because she seems more down to earth, friendlier and actually interacts with her viewers. Ziqi, on the other hand, remains a faraway, untouchable legend.
I started watching her videos when it was just 300k plus, now it's more than 3m. Amazing. And it's a bit surprising that she was a policewoman, I thought she is a teacher by profession. Anyway she deserve all the success, she is a hard worker.

This video was so helpful to know more about her and her videos and popularity. I saw her on youtube and passed her videos on to a friend who loved them. I love the way she cooks, her kitchen set up, the utensils and storage. It is all so different to my world here in Ashland Oregon USA but I her kitchen and lifestyle just makes so much sense to me. I would like to really meet her in person. All of her videos are so peaceful and real. I wish I was there on her journey. Going to the farm and her picking those fresh vegetables , I could hardly wait and see what she can make out of those. She transports people in that area in our mind that wants peace and tranquility. I've been addicted to Dianxi's videos for almost two years and have always admired how consistent the quality of her production is. In comments on her videos, fans frequently idealize the simplicity of her life in the village and the contentment surrounding her. As a part time videographer myself, I'm very aware just how much hard work and time goes into making everything look so simple. As a general rule, one minute of video takes at least an hours worth of shooting time, often twice that and at least two to three hours post-production video editing and synching sound. What looks like a simple 12 minute video can usually take 60 to 80 hours of work to complete.
How Dianxi produces these videos at the pace that she does, sometimes three a month, totally amazes me.
Learning that she was previously a police officer surprised me but it really explains the mental toughness and discipline hidden behind her angelic appearing persona. She is clearly a much tougher lady than the smiling, calm woman in the videos. It takes huge energy, persistence, discipline and organizational abilities to accomplish what she has achieved: almost four million subscribers in just over two years. I watched her most recent video five hours after it had been released on You Tube. It already had more than 225,000 views. That's incredible!!
