The Abandoned ELLIS ISLAND Immigration Hospital and the Ghosts of Lady Liberty

The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are two of America's most iconic tourist destinations and besides breathtaking panoramic views of the New York Harbor, some tours also allow you to glimpse at a haunted history. We took a Statue City Cruise out to the islands and then a guided hard hat tour with the company Save Ellis Island. These small group tours offer the chance to wander inside the crumbling ruins of the old hospital buildings. Our guide John was amazingly knowledgeable and all proceeds go toward preservation. If you have the extra time I highly recommend it.
The hospital is reportedly haunted by a number of former patients and the Statue of Liberty was once believed to be possessed!

Yeah, it was a really fascinating place to explore and learn more deeply about our history. And even though it’s in ruins you look out the windows and see the harbour, so it’s got this wild abandoned beauty.
