  • Colonial powers called the stretch of the West African coastline the Ivory Coast due to the massive amounts of ivory that made it from Central Africa to the ports at the shore.
So who are the people of Cote d'Ivoire?

The Akans sailed to central Africa? I certainly believe it ! A lot of languages around that area have a Akan flare from the Ijaw to the Fang I definitely think we went there !

The Northern Eastern province of Ivory Coast (Gur speakers), kingdom of Bouna, was founded by Dagombas, their king was named Bouna. And today, the Regional capital is name after Bounkani. They speak and dress like Dagombas in northern Ghana. The king was a father to Dagomba king called Yaa Naa Daligu Damda in 14th century, and they occupy northern east Ivory Coast today.

I have a question. Now that we have cyberspace, we should be able to come together and solve the questions of native born africans who were enslaved and brought to the US. So if you have any speculation, please comment. Broteer Furro was a slave that was born in either Guinea or Near present-day Ghana. He gave his father's name as Saugm Furro and a location or tribe called, "Dukkandarra." Scholars have not been able to confirm a tribe or the place in question. I know there is a Ouagadougou in Ivory Coast, I wonder if perhaps it could have been from there?

Many African countries will need to prepare for an influx of North American people soon. As condition’s throughout North America continue to deteriorate, the common hard working people there will need to go somewhere. I myself am from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and I hope to be settled in Abidjan, Ivory Coast later this year.
