Ambubachi Mela is the celebration of Maa Kamakhya’s menstrual cycle, but what is the story of this bleeding goddess? Why do thousands of Aghori sadhus and Tantriks visit Maa Kamakhya Temple in Assam every year?
A royal family who is not allowed to even look at the temple, a priest who was turned to stone, a monster who wanted to marry the goddess and the white cloth that mysteriously turns blood red. Maa Kamakhya Temple is associated with countless such secrets that have intrigued devotees and travellers for centuries.
We at Raaaz by BigBrainco., are trying to connect to our roots by exploring the ancient knowledge hidden in our culture. Today's guest Parakh Om Bhatt, a renowned Gujarati author and Tantra expert, dives deep into the fascinating legends, rituals and traditions that are associated with this sacred place.

📌Native Facts from Assam: Kendukalai was a Siddha priest of Maa Kamakhya. He was the grandson of Vatsa Muni. While Kamakhya Maa was dancing, pleased with the worship of Kendukalai, she suddenly saw King Naranarayan and slapped Kendukalai in anger, breaking his head and taking it to his birthplace "Muradeu" (present-day Kalai village, Odalguri).
There are now the descendants of this Daivajna/Daivagnya Brahmin. The Maharaja built a temple in memory of Kendukalai at the place where his head fell. This temple is called "Muradeu Temple", it belongs to Kalai Gaon Mouza in Odalguri district.

Dakshina kali dhyan mantra he
Bhai there are some mistakes...
1) Kendukalai stone ka Nehi ban geya tha... Uska mundi jake uske ghar mein gir geya tha... Usko maa ne ak slap dia tha...
2) Kamdev ne jis jaga peh phirse janam liya usko Kamrup bola jata hain... Aur uss jaga ko Madan Kamdev Bola jata hain...
3) Kukurkata Nehi hain iss jaga ka naam... Uska naam kookurakata hain... Kookura means Cock (Male form of hen)...
4) Narakasur wala steps to Mekhela- ujuwa path... (Mekhela the traditional piece of women wearing in assam)

I Belong to the Koch Rajbongshi Community and my ancestors were Naranaryana (King) and Chilarai(Commander of the army). the entire Kingdom was Divided into 2 parts koch Bihar(Present Day Bengal), Koch Hajo (Present Day assam From where I belong) we consider ourselves the decedents of chilarai and we have blessings of the Devi Whenever we ask her for something she gives it to us on way or another but on the other hand. Whenever people from our clan in bengal try to enter kamakhya or come to Guwahati they face problems, most of the times they miss the train or something else
I am also a Koch -rajbongshi from Nalbari Assam....where are you from?

Rajaw"( ରଜ/रजऽ) means Menstruation in Odia language from the Sanskrit word for menstruation "Rajasvala".
Its called "Ambubachi mela" in W.Bengal, Assam and "Keddasa" in Tulu Naad/southern coastal districts of Karnataka.
However, its very different from Ambubachi mela or Keddasa, which have their own uniqueness each:-
1) Rajaw celebrates feminity through Bhuin Dei/Earth mother's menstruation ( who is Sri Jagannatha's wife) unlike Ambubachi mela, which has Shakta origins. So, Temples are not closed in Odisha unlike these places for 3 days, even Devi temples.
2) All Odia females, irrespective of age, marital status and capacity are supposed to wear their best gold jewellery, flowers and traditional dresses( traditionally Odia ladies before menstruation wear Kanchuka and Taļa Angi, which are Odia terms for blouse and Dhoti type garment. Rest all wear Saree in our traditional Gharapindha style, unique to Odias). Nowadays, modern dresses are also worn.
3) There are many rules to follow with women as we follow during menses in traditional Odia culture, females are not to take part in any work( traditionally men do all jobs, even at home), she must ride on long traditional swings( Doļi/दोळऽ in Odia which are made of ripened bamboos- पाचिला बांउसऽ दोळी or ropes- टाणऽ दउड़ी as is called in Odia language),
play cards and hear stories from Odia history/religious books from men or old women. She must rest all day, walk barefoot, all men have to lower their voice to talk with any female. Men have to feed females with traditional delicious food( not followed so diligently now). And all other points as mentioned in the video.
Odia males get to hear about the struggle of women every month by their moms and how they can help in return as women are prakruti then.
4) on 4th day, the epitome of Mother Earth in Odisha aka the pestle( Siļaw/सिळऽ) is washed with Turmeric, Kumkum, rice grains, clothed in a Yellow cloth ( traditional color of saree for an Odia bride) and offered bhoga. People pray for a bountiful harvest, Odissi and other traditional Odia dances are offered to Jagannath trio along with Devis. Then, the utensils and equipments of farming are also worshipped with some bhoga given to animals and old women first.
Jai Maa Kamakhya 🙏🏻❤️🌸
