- Part one of a comprehensive review for the EMT basic NREMT exam. Both content and test taking strategies. Be careful, it is an old study guide. The oxygen and CPR guidelines have changed. You can look at the other review for rationales......thanks.
I just found out I passed my NREMT written exam. I watched all of these videos Randyemt put up and found them extremly helpful. The instructor is a goddess, I am in love with her! I don't know her name but determined it was Ashley. Ashley thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Thanks to Randyemt for posting these!
wtf ur creepy as hell

Keeping in mind that these answers are outdated and not all correct this video is very helpful in learning test taking skills and how to go about the process of elimination from an EMT perspective. Just keep in mind the NREMT can be tricky when it comes to wording so make sure to read the question and all the answer choices before making a selection.
It’s old, but still great! I love how she discusses each option 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Look... I took the NREMT today. These questions were not even similar to what I had to answer.
The only way you will pass the test is to KNOW pathophysiology, definitions, etc, etc.
There is no short cut to study. Read your book! KNOW.
That is the way to pass on the first time.
You are learning to save lives, not pass a test.
+Dougie Fresh how were the nremt questions different? I take mine in a few weeks. I've been using these videos and emtprep.com.

this is very helpful it's like a group study with a proctor helping you get the answer's correct for the National registry this is awesome stuff.
She talks sooooooooo fast, like she's ready to get this over with. Thank goodness for the transcript.
Plus I'm reviewing my book "Emergency Care" 13th Edition.

Transcript??? What transcript????
For #4 -- 72 isn't too long of a time period; NJ treatment protocol advises EMTs that NTG cannot be administered if the patient has taken any erectile dysfunction drugs within 72 hours. I wouldn't select "D" because A, Viagra is too specific and it rules out other ED drugs that are of equal concern, and B, choice "B" pretty much covers the effects of what the Viagra would do but in a bit more detail. Thank you for sharing this question.
72 hours for y’all, here In Texas is 48 hours weird how it works
Rumman Alam very nice video. I think that it is very informative in helping me with my interview.
Thank you for creating this video. You have the voice on an angel.

In no way shape or form should you soley depend on these videos. I feel like these are helpful allowing you to familiarilize yourself with different symptoms associated with certain diseases, mental illnesses. As well as challenging your ability to think critically. There should be many tools that you use to learn and continue learning.
For number 14, I believe the correct answer is B because in order to give activated charcoal, you need the weight on the patient because the dose is 1 mg/ kg of body weight. Information about the weight of the child is not given.
I understand this is dated but question 2, we no longer provide oxygen to every patient and the trundelburg position is no longer recommended, supine is sufficient for shock.
i have learned more about emt skills. Great effort
28 minutes in and I only just realize this was uploaded nearly a decade ago
You're right; number two should be A. When transporting a stable [stroke] patient w/ unilateral hemiparalysis, it's best to place the patient in a recumbent position w/ the paralyzed side down. But the others are correct so I will be continuing. I'm not really here to get right answers--because those can be verified elsewhere--but instead to improve my thought process for approaching questions. It's good to see that you're knowledgeable & aren't taking someone else's word as gospel. Study hard!
why would you place the patient on his left side when they have left side hemiparalysis?
learned more about emt skills. Great effort
#5 is less than 90 mmHg (not less than 100) (Prehospital Emergency Care, 11th Ed, pg 424, 538) .. or no more than 30 mmHg lower than baseline systolic
This is the best professor ever and I have no idea who she is
Have you updated your courses to reflect the more restrictive protocols use of O2. I don't think give oxygen to everyone now.
Not certain about the points made but ,if anyone else wants to learn about paramedic practice test try Elumpa Paramedic Expert Alchemist (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work buddy got cool success with it.
@William Eudy hi everyone ,if anyone else trying to find out emt final study guide try Debuncar Medic Study Aid (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some unbelievable things about it and my partner got excellent results with it.
A pt. experiencing left sided paralysis should be placed on the LEFT side to minimize further damage so #2 is WRONG.
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT. I FELT LIKE SUCH AN IDIOT. THANK YOU. IMA STOP WATCHING NOW.
2:25 Oxygen is not always given, if they are sat-ing at about 94% or higher then O2 is contraindicated, especially in a stroke patient
Tess Victoria hello, just trying to learn...can you explain why oxygen for a stroke pt would be contraindicated if they’re 94% or higher?
Anna Lancaster there’s too many free oxygen molecules floating around
Number 2 is already wrong. She says D; the BEST answer is A. This pt. is possibly exhibiting signs of stroke. The likelihood is high that the pt. will vomit. If a semiconscious pt is supine, they will aspirate their vomit. Yes, this question is outdated a bit as well because a "newer" version of this question eliminates the "left sided paralysis" and is just concerned with the pt being semiconscious which, again, pt needs to be placed on his left side.
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else needs to find out about emt final study guide try Skyarza Medic Study Star (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my neighbor got great success with it.
ok you right A is the right answer because you want to minimize the pressure in the affected site, for instance if the patient is with a left side paralysis is most likely a right CVA Or TIA meaning that you don't want to put more pressure in the affected site.
Ed B I would have said D simply because the patient has left sided hemiplegia and you wouldn't want to put them on their left side because they can't support the paralyzed side of their body. As for vomiting, you can always turn them, even if they're on a back board. Turn and suction. D is the answer.

hey ,if anyone else is searching for emt exam prep try Debuncar Medic Study Aid (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some extraordinary things about it and my m8 got amazing success with it.
#7 because he is unconscious it would be implied consent
What's your explanation to why it should be A.?
I believe the answer is D, it's also pretty well known as the "shock position"
When the legs are positioned higher than the heart it can "slightly" help blood flow.
#2 is A. Any patient with sided paralysis, you should lay them on said side.
So many of these questions are super subjective I hate these tests lol
for number 13 isn't it totally unnecessary to use a nonrebreather on someone who is breathing adequately?
Good stuff, except we DO NOT put O2 on everyone now. Only if their pulse ox is less than 94.
Mitchell Turnbull maxmaxmax29 I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else trying to find out emt exam questions try Debuncar Medic Study Aid (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my m8 got excellent success with it.
I was told for the test alway always give oxygen
Yea, I don't think EMTs are allowed to elevate peoples legs when they're dizzy anymore either
# 8 is actually A per new standards , your not going to keep doing something that Is inadequate and hope it gets better, inproper seal is the most common cause of inadequate ventilations using BVM, the mouth to mask is correct, so #2 and # 8 are wrong.
TC Jester but what would the answer be on the nremt test?
yea #2 is wrong becasue you would put them on the left side so blood can return there
I\'m not sure but ,if anyone else is searching for emt online training try Elumpa Paramedic Expert Alchemist (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my mate got amazing success with it.
I think the issue is that the 1 person BVM is preventing an adequate seal. The mouth-to-mask option would likely rectify the inadequate seal. Thus "A". Cheers!
check B.P. every time you give any type of medication.
NTG can be given 24 hours after taking Viagra or Levitra...or 48 hours after taking Cialis.
NJ protocol differs greatly from the rest of the country and I believe they actually structure protocols around staying out of legal trouble than actually helping patients. (less medications less fault)
in nys nitro is asisted when bp is higher than 120 so number 4 is wrong the answer is d bc of the 72 hour time period
Brian Dennis wrong, what book did you study? R u basing this on your protocols, completely different story
Patrick Walsh youre right im basing this on new york state this vid came up in a playlist for nys exam review
Thank you so much for this. Would you be willing to share the slides too?
!!!!!!WARNING THIS VIDEO IS OUTDATED AND MOST OF THE ANSWERS ARE INCORRECT AND SOME OF THE PRACTICES PERFORMED IN THESE QUESTIONS ARE NO LONGER PERFORMED PER PROTOCOL , ACCORDING TO THE NREMT OF "2021"!!!!!!!
she says the National registry test says if it's ever on the test that you answer yes. i am wondering if thats been changed? or is it still the testable answer for the national registry.
No. 8 correct answer is A
Why would you place a patient that's most likely in shock NOT in the shock position?
We are taught in central Illinois to never withhold oxygen, so i'm guessing its different all around.
Great review. I do the same with my EMT students.
No don’t this is super outdated
Hi I am new new newbie EMT Student so What do you recommend for study?
I'm hearing mixed things on whether oxygen is always needed or not. Either it "never hurts to have them hooked to an oxygen reservoir" or "oxygen is detrimental in so and so situation". Which is it?
Im wondering the same thing... because I will be taking my test soon...
+Nathan Collins hey wanna study with me somehow? I'll be taking mine soon
Number 18 is wrong. There’s nothing a paramedic can do for an aortic aneurysm. 30 minutes lead time is enough time to set up an OR with a vascular surgeon.
this course given here was it an actual E.M.T. course at a college? or? was this something else?
congrats, i take mine in three days
What do you mean by give oxygen to every patient? I don't think that is correct.
yeah thats all bullshit this teacher is an idiot lmao
is this really outdated?
I don't think so
Actually it is extremely outdated. You don't give oxygen to EVERYONE, especially on the NREMT's (question 2). There's a lot of flaws, but I'm stopping here 3 minutes in because it's so bad.
Ice Even that is the wrong mentality. What does oxygen do to the bloodstream? What about hemoglobin? It's important to know these things. Oxygen is more/less a bloodthinner. If you have a major bleed, you don't always want to give oxygen because it may increase the bleeding. OR what if your pt. is 100% Oxygenated on room air but has horrible FeV? What about cracked ribs? Saying 'Give O2 to everyone' is basically saying "always wash your hands after touching something that isn't yours." both unhealthy and inaccurate.
Shamrock Overhead D
if your smart and payed attention in your actual class, and read your book. Then you should be able to tell the good information from the bad. as far as oxygen goes you should know when its appropriate and to what level give oxygen whether its none, 4L of o2 via nasal cannula, 15L via non-rebreather, or a BVM.
very good very helpfull
14. C. Is not entirely correct because it’s 1 g per kg. B would be the most correct due to absorption
Is this outdated
Hey , your thought is very nice. But you can get more information about emt written test on skyarza medic study star. For more information you can also search on google.
Question 4 is D for NYS. In NYS, your BP should be at least or over 120 mm Hg. If a patient took ED drugs within 72 hours, nitro is contraindicated.
how is #7 A.? I think it should be B. because when life threating injuries are present and he is unconscious we have the green light through implied consent. By the time you finished your primary treatment the parents should be there.
Right out of the gate #2 is wrong ...
Looks pretty accurate to me.
Love it
Question 13- Why wouldn't the answer be "B"?
no because hi is breathing adequate and you are an idiot what about you start to read you fat pice of shit
lol
thank you
oxygen is not given to all pt's.
Question 8 according to our book is mouth to mask, bc the issue could be with the BVM.
Which book are you using ? I'm reading Emergency Care 13th Edition.
These are extremely outdated. #8 is wrong because it is stupid to keep trying a treatment that is NOT working. The pocket mask allows a better seal on the face, therefore it is a better intervention in this situation.
Oxygen is no longer ALWAYS given
I disagree with number 8. The correct answer should be A.
Doesn't matter if you disagree. Her answer is right. Opinions don't matter. Facts do...
nitro is given if the systolic blood pressure is at least 90 not 100

. Something I also found useful for emt exam review is Skyarza Medic Study Star - it will be on google if you need it
I waited too long to take the NREMT exam....
me, too ):
For the record... she got #8 wrong. The answers A. We had that same question in our NREMT prep class for the 4N0X1 AFSC in the Air Force. Continuing attempted ventilations with a bvm is pointless if you can’t position it correctly. With a mouth to mask you have more control and can at least create adequate chest rise and fall.
hello,
not all patients get oxygen. Oxygen would get administered if he patients oxygen levels are 95 or below. THIS IS ON THE REMT
Question 4 also tricky...he could have taken sexual enhancement drugs and have a systolic above 100 but you didnt ask, and his BP tanks. As per her 72 hours just being too long-that is mandated by protocol, i guess. its 48-72hrs as per the emergency care 12th edition
#9 is guaranteed A
I like this video, very informative and educative. Corbandy Medic Study Crusher is recommended. On google for more information

#7...I would pick to treat him on scene and wait for parents...how tf they gonna know which hospital to go to? On top of that, transporting a pt without any consent constitutes kidnapping doesnt it? Its implied consent to treat him depending on the severity of his injuries..🤔
O2 to everyone? Charcoal for Tylenol ? Not immediately giving chest compressions with unconscious infant ? Lmfao feel bad for her students
