This is exactly how every camera gear review should be like! I should direct some of the so called camera guros to this page and advise them to learn! Great job!

Agree. I once commented to one of these type of videos that would be nice if Sony would make better battery to replace the FW50 and all the followers commented "that is so old camera ... buy new one". Stupid people don't understand these cameras are still sold brand new and lot's of people use them. :D

I bought 4 ravpower batteries only 1 of the 4 still functions. 2 swelled significantly, and 1 just refused to charge. My 4 Sony OEM batteries 3 of the 4 still function. I bought a bunch of power extra they’re in various states of aging rapidly. These batteries from any brand are very spotty and it seems some folks get lucky and others get duds.

I know this is very old, but what u think about SmallRig NP-FW50? SmallRig is becoming very popular brand in the camera community with their camera accessories like cages and tripods.

That is certainly one way of testing batteries, but I do feel that you are overlooking some other aspects of why some batteries are cheaper than others. I have been involved in taking failed batteries apart and discovered that some have PCB's inside, while others do not. On further investigation it turned out that the ones that did had them in order to provide protection. Batteries are literally bombs waiting to explode and treated badly, they have a far higher chance of doing so. What tests have you carried out on overcharging protection, over heating, excessive use in different climatic conditions. All the results from tests like those would further help to determine the worth and value of a battery.

The real winners are Powerextra and Neewer Red. They keep 100% charge and have more run ime than sony original. What's the point of more run time if you lose 5 to 15% in a week without touching the batteries?

Hi great content. Just one question. I have the original battery in my 6400. After start it sometimes jumps to an higher remaining battery level and then couple minutes later back to prior value. So e.g. 18% after restart it shows 26% then after 1min or so 16%. Is that normal?

I like long, searching, detailed and well researched articles, that explore for truth and are not ideologically frozen in their attitudes. I looked at this ad for Epoch Times... and no, it launched into a tirade about COVID and how China was the bad boy, the only bad boy.. This commentary stank of right wing ideology, or dripped with it.
Let’s just stay with COVID for a minute. I read in an article prepared by Joe Pompeo of Vanity Fair on 8 May 2020. In that article he interviewed Professor Kristian Anderson of Scripps Research, Florida. On 17 March 2020, lead author Anderson was successful in having his article PUBLISHED in Nature Medicine. In that article the Anderson team completely debunked the theory/assertion of the US (Mike Pompeo and Trump) that the virus was either accidentally or deliberately released by the Wuhan Laboratory. The team concluded that the chance the virus was either accidentally or deliberately released by the Wuhan Laboratory was about one in a million. So how about some concrete evidence about your articles. I went and collected scientific truth, or information that was very likely to demonstrate truth.
What a shame Epoch look very ideological as they seem to have long detailed articles... but have blown it.
I can’t for the life of me understand why people spend time in telling untruths resorting to ideology trying to brainwash. Why not simply hold onto professionalism in journalism, win respect by unashamedly telling the truth.
Step back, show us some superbly detailed analyses. A good one to begin might help you stay away from ideologically based articles, is the energy industry, but in particular, the Oil Industry. Just one theme on that, is the real reason Saudi Arabia sought to sell (was it 5% or more not sure) of its Aramco operations, that Saudi Arabia is truly ( this time) running out of oil? So there you go, how about showing me your detailed story on the Oil Industry, but in particular what is real truth?
I might reconsider whether I subscribe to Epoch if it gets rid of its right wing nutters, and employs journalists of the highest integrity, recognised for their brilliance, but more importantly, for their complete impartiality.
Let me finish by saying that I search for authenticity in a journal, aside from a media that’s vision, mission, and raison d’être, is to publish the truth

Similar to this video, but more towards speedlite, gimbals, lightings, microphones, and more. probably the differences of the sennheiser, tascam and other cheap made products.

It's not worth to buy any of 3rd party batteries unless they are ballanced like the original one. It doesn't matter how much mAh they have when you buy it. They will drop in capacity significantly after a couple of months. Not because the cells itself are bad but because a factory decided to save 1$ on a controlling pcb. You can buy slightly used original battery almost for the same price. Not to mention that 3rd party batteries can swell or just stop to work or even damage the camera controller

I'm watching this video now in SEP 2023 as I just came back from a vacation in Los Angeles. I had 1 sony original battery and 2 Rav Power. All batteries were fully charge. 1 of the RavPower batteries dropped dead and wouldn't charge at all. The other RavPower battery would charge only to 85% and died mid used of the battery. The sony battery was the only one that maintained its charge the whole time. Personally I wouldn't get the RavPower.

I still have the same battery I used in my Canon AE1 from 15 years ago and the Canon Rebel xsi battery does not run out when not using it. I can go back 3 or 4 months later and it is still charged.
