    • @tomgoffnett5624

You are telling no lies. AND THIS ALSO explains why some people are reporting battery errors with their 3rd party vertical grips and others are saying they've had no trouble with battery errors when using their third party vertical grips.
You buy the Sony Camera, you have a Sony Battery, you refuse to pay 400.00 for a sony grip, you buy a 3rd party grip, and now you need battery number two, and you buy 3rd party and end up with one of the batteries that reports errors. So happy to get the list of Tech Notice tested batteries. I just ordered the Wasabi's with charger. If they don't last as long as the Sony, it doesn't matter, they only need to last 1/4 of the time for me to get my moneys worth.

This is really good to see, I’m currently using wasabi and Neewer batteries in the BMPCC 4K but I’m planning to switch over to the A7IV for weddings and those were the two brands I was considering. Much thanks for putting in all that time and money to test these for everybody ! ... I do wish someone would test Nightcore batteries...
I've actually watched a few of these battery test videos - and this causes me to think, that testing is made harder / less reliable, due to excessive variability in these batteries, because some that rated high here, got a fail in other tests and vice versa.

Very well done vid. I have used the Sony battery for my AZR3 and two aftermarket batteries (one unlabeled and one Powerextra) for three years and can vouch for the Sony lasting longer than the others. The Sony may not be the best deal. About a month ago, the Sony would only charge to 35% and then the charger turned off. The other batteries are still working and taking a full charge. Ordered two more Powerextra batteris for the price of one Sony battery ($43 for two batteries). The Sony can be found for about half the list price but I don't think it repesents the best value in my experience.

Still, at the date of me watching this (26th June 2022), some of those brands seem to have disappeared, i.e. Wasabi. The also may not be available in my area (Germany). Still, Baxxtar do still exist in their battery generation 4. They can now be thankful of you having uploaded this video. Also, you must have spent a bit of money purchasing all those batteries. I'm curious about Jupio batteries. They are just a bit cheaper but not that much cheaper that they are worth going over by price alone. Curious about subzero temp performance and warm temps too. I will stick to original Sony batteries if they best in this case too.
I had a faulty Sony battery, but the retailer sent me a new one which work flawlessly. The faulty battery dropped to 0 from 1 hour being on not doing anything, also during recording it dropped to below half after few mins, I had to test it several times to know I definitely had it fully charged, it dropped randomly and eventually drained.
So before you go on a trip relying on batteries always test them, no matter the brand, cus you might get a dud.

the corrupt clip is what happens then its the batteries SHUTS DOWN before the camera chooses to shut down.
For example the camera has 2x 3.6v cells.
Sony might have it set up to shut down at 6v, but the battery has a BMS that shuts down if 1 cell hits for example 2.7v. Whats happening is that those batteries theyre hitting 2.7v(1%) on one cell and 3.4v(10%) on the other (totalling 6.1v) and then the BMS shuts it down before the camera.
I have some very used sony and powerextra batteries and got to say though, my power extra are lasting only 60% of what my sonys do. Tested 4k50p and sony did 1h45-2h, the power extras only did approx 1h. so i reckon some of these brands might be using cells with hundreds of cycles already done on them

If you wonder where is Patona in the list … Baxxtar batteries are made by Patona for Bundlestar (company that sell them under the Baxxtar name). New Patona Protect V1 series has even better parameters.

Ahhh thanks for the info!! Would you recommend the Patona Premium (Green) that most people use or the Protect (gold) ones?

Hi everyone after seeing this video I have bought 2 baxxtar battery for my alpha 7r3
But when I put them in it It's apparently not compatible
    (I'm on the firmware 3.10)
Does anyone know what I can do, to make it work?
    Thanks for any help!

What generation did you buy? I think it's the last fourth. I'll just order it and see if it works

Great video!! Need more of there on youtube!!
I've bought neewer battery pack but i'm afraid that i get the "error message". What firmware is your camera? Did you get the non original battery warning?
    Thanks!!

      first of all, thanks!
I did get the warning but it was easily dismissed. I think on the settings you can also somewhere say to still operate the cam even with 3rd party batteries.
Honestly I can't remember the firmware I had haha :)

      Thanks so much!!

Nope, the battery percentage went with some of the batteries.

Did you got the chance to use the Nitecore USN4 Pro Charger? What are your thoughts on it?
