I currently have the 55 S90D I got discounted for review. Do yourself a favor & just get the S89C/S90C if buying now, at least until these drop considerably in price. They should mostly be Gen 2 panels just like the S90D as well. Only if the 77 S90D (or maybe if S89D) turns out to be a Gen 3 panel would I recommend right now.
hdr brightness 10%: 1193cd/m2 and get 8.7 score meanwhile g3: 1410cd get 8.5, a95L: 1146cd get 8.6, s95c: 1213cd get 8.5 score. higher the candela lower the score or what? it doesn't make sense then a95L would get the highest score for lowest candela
Loved the content as always 10/10. I would have loved to have seen it next to the s90c for a direct comparison. Everyone keeps saying it's basically the same. So what are the actual differences?
Not having Dolby Atmos is fine and most people wouldn't notice and it really doesn't really make much difference but not having DTS would be such a pain for most people. I don't mind it on my S90C because I have a receiver with EARC out. I am sure that most people don't have that. LG OLEDs used to have the same problem for a few years till last year when they started supporting DTS again. Of course, most people don't notice because the Blu-ray switches to Dolby digital which is normally lower in quality compared to DTS-HD which is lossless on blurays. Blu-rays for newer movies are coming out with Dolby Atmos but most people who buy Blu-rays watch a lot of older movies.
I hate this thin TV trend. All they’re doing is making the TV more fragile. Oof. I mean it’s not like the TV sits more flush to the wall because of the bottom part 🤷♂️
Hmm seems difficult to justify this over just getting the S90C Especially playing panel lottery with the S90D 42" and 48" being WOLED, 55", 65", 77" have a chance of either being WOLED or QD-OLED and the 83" being WOLED great review!

Sad that the S90C has vanished from stores, was looking for getting one in sales towards the end of the year. Hoping I find a good deal around Black Friday for this instead.
The panel lottery problem is not whether you’re getting W or QD OLED, that much is very clear: 55-77 are QD, others are not. The real issue is Samsung not divulging whether they are using 2nd generation QD OLED panels that were in the the S90C and S95C, or they are using the new third generation panels found in the S 95D. THATs the “panel lottery” problem😡
4:02 this whole eARC limitation only matters if your media source (bluray player/ Apple TV) is plugged into the TV's HDMI for picture and the eARC HDMI is used to pass on sound to your AV receiver to handle sound right? If you plug your source into your receiver to handle audio and use your receiver's HDMI out into the TV, it's a non-issue right? and if you're using a built-in app on your TV as a media source then god bless you i guess
I got the 55S90D for $1,136.37 including tax! Super slick deal and cheaper than the 55S90C close out sales I saw! Extremely happy with the purchase and price (using it for my gaming/work Area). It's my first QD-OLED TV and I'm loving it so far. I still have my 77C9 and 77A80J which I love as well! Edit: How to check if you have a QD OLED Panel (2024 model; i think it may work for 2023 as well) - When displaying content/an image, you can use your smartphone camera feature. Get really close to the tv and zoom to the maximum your camera will zoom. If you see what looks like a cross pattern, it's a QD OLED. If its not a cross pattern, its a WOLED.

QD-OLED has the best color and contrast. Nothing comes close to it right now. They should be selling it as one or the other, not leaving it as a lottery.
LG Chem/LG Displays dominate in the output as well as the quality department of WOLED and OLED displays. Which when bringing up QD-OLED this is primarily a Samsung Display product that is in its infancy stage of production compared to LG's manufacturing and various size offerings in a given year. Thus I would advise getting a product that suits your intended life expectancy which from Samsung not providing this information would only leave historical information as insight, but as mentioned before is in the first year's of production of the display technology for consumer use. The other part is HDR Codec support which Samsung is not folding Dolby Vision into their tv's which some see as a negative for this high end of a tv but support other codec support for HDR. If you got this far their is also MLA OLED which is mostly a LG/Panasonic OLED with a Micro Lens Array that can focus more light to be displayed outwards in a more straight pattern then disperse on its own which it leading to brighter perceivable output.
I'm excited only when my current TV dies. It's a 85" Sony 4K LCD pre Dolby Vision support. What ever is the most mature product with the best mix use and support for most of what I throw at it. The brightness wars have already begun but so has the efficiency wars which will kill some of the progress of products utilizing older time tested methods of getting desired output. This has introducing now only slight improvements compared to prior years leaps between models (incremental). I do like the quality of displays as a whole are getting better for lower money which as a consumer becomes a buyer market. I would like to support a well established brand that I have had good fortune with ie. Sony and Panasonic but would fully be down to do a refresher course of whom has the best goods on the market when the time comes.
I bought this TV. The top edge of the frame is not straight, it is curved in the center and on the left edge. Samsung said that this is allowed and they refused to exchange my TV for a good one. In the end, they told me that it was bent during transportation or during installation on the wall. I paid a lot of money for a crooked TV... Very disappointed.
Had mine serviced, motherboard replaced and it works but not seemless 😂 takes turning TV on must be done using Samsung remote not Apple TV remote, choosing the HDMI output I want and then turning Apple TV on using its remote, this way enables eARC handshake 99.9% of the time
I wouldn't buy another Samsung product. I've had Samsung TV's and Clothes Washers and they all fail prematurely (perhaps by design). My 12 Y.O. Panasonic Plasma is still going great however.
The S90D lost one feature the S90C has. Like LGs 2024 OLED TVs, S90D has a regular ATSC tuner, not an ATSC 3.0 tuner of the S90C. This was one reason i bought 77" & 65" S90C at clearance pricing. Will buy an LG G4 when prices come down as i want one OLED TV with Dolby Vision & DTS support, as i have hundreds of 4k Ultra movie discs. Would prefer the better processing of the SONY OLEDs, but don’t want to pay the "SONY TAX" when buying multiple TVs.

I updated my firmware on my s90d and lost 300 nits of peak brightness. Samsung up to its usual tricks. Wait for the initial reviews to come out then nerf. The windows hdr calibration app initially showed 1150 of peak brightness and 1 week later it is down to 850 nits
I noticed you don’t mention 5:5 pulldown, last years models (like my 90C) had a major issue with it. Between panning shots it would micro freeze the image. Especially in EU regions where cable TV is 50Hz!!! There is no way to do inverse pulldown 3:2! Cause you cannot bring back 50 fps from 60fps! This caused major problem for me!😢 The issue is negated only by enabling de judder to 2-4 clicks or disabling picture clarity completely or running AppleTV or Google TV in a Game Mode! I settled to run more de judder for sports 4 clicks and for shows 2 clicks as I don’t notice soap opera effect, but for other people who are more sensitive to this effect this would be a major issue. Hopefully with next review this would be also mentioned from here on forward ❤ It would be lovely if ratings actually could communicate this issue to Samsung about last year models, so they could actually address it 🙏
According to Samsung, with whom I spoke with yesterday, NONE of their 2024 OLED models (S90D & S95D) are using the QD Panels now & moving forward. If you wanted to get either of these models with a QD panel, unfortunately that boat has sailed - WOLED is your ONLY option. Very, very sad day for consumers.
As Tom Cruise suggested that we should disable Motion smoothening while watching movies to avoid soap opera effect but if I do that how bad will the stutter be? as you said motion smoothen can clear out much of the stutter but how bad it is for movie maniacs. Is OLED not for movie enthusiasts ?
I bought the s90d for mostly gaming might watch news a little bit off satellite reason being because the store discounted it to s90c closeout price. They also added a 3 year warranty which sounds like I might need? I can say my LG c9 has ran flawless for going on 5 years in my family room
You can get a magnifying glass or zoom in with the phone and look at pixels. If you see 3 RGB square like pixels - it is QD-OLED If you see 4 tight packed columns pixels one of which is white - it's WOLED
So since this one Cannot pass thru Dts, does that mean I can’t watch my Blu-rays & 4K movies thru my home theater system (?), or does that only mean it won’t do that if you just use the TV’s speakers themselves? 🤷♂️🤔
Remember people: Never update your firmware on a /Samsung/ TV. They will nerf it to oblivion before newer models come out. Samsung is the only company that does it.
I wouldn't buy Samsung becaus ethe software truly gets worse and slower with time. My QN90A sometimes is unusable, like it's not just slow. It's infuriating.
I got a Q70C and I couldn’t agree more + the picture quality is garbage for 4k panel. No matter if I max sharpness, picture remains blurry and it’s motion handling is bad, a lot of ghosting. Had a technician come in and he said it’s working perfectly as intended and there’s nothing wrong with it…..
im fine with woled for the 48 inch due to qd-oled isn't available for that size. plus i have a lg c1 and can not buy another lg cause my setup is a gaming type so if i have two lg tvs one remote will control both tvs so im fine
@@nttinvis says eveyone who has NOT had full gloss screen . Once u have glossy laptop screen u can’t go back with matte . If u have had matte all the time , then it’s not too bad .

@Yoga_Tv_buying i agreee it destroys the color vibration and makes it look less vibrant and crisp, they should just do like the gorilla glass anti reflective
The panel lottery on 55 inch is holding me back on hitting buy button and this is currently in my cart, cant understand why samsung cant clarify their stand on this. Region wise this might change.
It doesn't matter, both are way ahead of every WOLED and PC monitor. The panel is basically flawless. It's like owning a 4K CRT monitor (i own a Samsung pseudo 1440p monitor). The motion clarity of both QD OLEDs is amazing and you don't lose colors or brightness that much in BFI because the screens by default are very bright. Way, way too bright for my taste but extremely versatile for anything that you want. They are good as PC monitors for work as well.
Hey guys! Just wanted to know before purchasing this one, does the low quality content smoothing is a deal breaker here? In other words, what considered as a low quality content here? I dont want to buy the c4 but i think that this is a pretty good reason to go for it, isnt it? Thanks a lot
I agree 💯 with quality control my Q9fn65 I had to send back 3 times first time screen didn't work 2nd the coating was peeling 3rd the back panel was falling off. I should have sent it back a 4th time it had 1 broken pixel in the bottom right corner but this process had taken 6 months and Samsung was giving any discounts or store credits. I do love the TV though even with all these issues. I wish they'd update the firmware with Xbox and they made a bunch of promises of One connect box upgrades they haven't done yet.
Is this a good TV to stream movies? I know Sony is has a better processor and upscaling, but the Only Sony with QD OLED is the A95L and it’s out of my budget. Would the S95D be good enough for streaming MAX, Prime Video and Netflix? Thanks!

Hello everyone! I wanted your opinion regarding my current situation of S90D So basically, I got a really sweet deal on the S90D 77" which was here on HUGE sale in Middle east Saudi Arabia for around 2300$ which is super nice for that price! I used to have a Sony x9000h 75" but decided to upgrade, anyways the issue is I just found out after making the purchase and awaiting the delivery that there is some sort of panel lotteries specifically in the S90D lineup that you could get a WOLED panel in that TV. After extensive research I have found out that my TV is going to be WOLED and not QD-OLED in Saudi Arabia which was a bummer to me honestly. Nevertheless, people were saying i'm going to have blast either way since i'm coming from a regular LED TV and I agree. But I wanted to take your opinion guys regarding this, since after seeing the comparisons between WOLED and QD-OLED that the colors are SO much more vibrant and nicer in the QD-OLED. so should I return the TV and get the S90C for the same exact price or should I just continue with this purchase and it's going to be nice still? Keep in mind that the only S90C that is left that I can take is the one displayed in their store, and it's in the same exact price of the S90D that I'm getting and it's brand new, and in that case I would be guranteed a QD-OLED display since I think that there were no WOLED panel in the S90C lineup. Appreciate you guys for reading this and taking the time, anyone's opinion is welcome and looking forward to hear from you guys! Love from Saudi 💙

Had mine serviced, motherboard replaced and it works but not seemless 😂 takes turning TV on must be done using Samsung remote not Apple TV remote, choosing the HDMI output I want and then turning Apple TV on using its remote, this way enables eARC handshake 99.9% of the time
Buggy mess. Smh…
They need to bring one ui to TVs
I wouldn't buy another Samsung product. I've had Samsung TV's and Clothes Washers and they all fail prematurely (perhaps by design). My 12 Y.O. Panasonic Plasma is still going great however.
Thanks Abby !!
Which ones better LG C4 or S90D?

@@EverydayElectronics23 i bought C4 n happy
This caused major problem for me!😢
The issue is negated only by enabling de judder to 2-4 clicks or disabling picture clarity completely or running AppleTV or Google TV in a Game Mode!
I settled to run more de judder for sports 4 clicks and for shows 2 clicks as I don’t notice soap opera effect, but for other people who are more sensitive to this effect this would be a major issue.
Hopefully with next review this would be also mentioned from here on forward ❤
It would be lovely if ratings actually could communicate this issue to Samsung about last year models, so they could actually address it 🙏
According to Samsung, with whom I spoke with yesterday, NONE of their 2024 OLED models (S90D & S95D) are using the QD Panels now & moving forward. If you wanted to get either of these models with a QD panel, unfortunately that boat has sailed - WOLED is your ONLY option. Very, very sad day for consumers.
So the S90C is a diamond and will go higher and higher in price.
OLED is ABSOLUTELY for movie enthusiast!
@@serge4in1what about stuttering at 24fps ?
@@bruceparker3139 judder or stutter, on an OLED screen is exaggerated because of it's almost instantaneous pixel response.
I bought the s90d for mostly gaming might watch news a little bit off satellite reason being because the store discounted it to s90c closeout price. They also added a 3 year warranty which sounds like I might need? I can say my LG c9 has ran flawless for going on 5 years in my family room
how can you tell what kind of panel it is? and that audio problem about no dts.. is that just on the one input?
You can get a magnifying glass or zoom in with the phone and look at pixels.
If you see 3 RGB square like pixels - it is QD-OLED
If you see 4 tight packed columns pixels one of which is white - it's WOLED
Who can make review for 83 inch model ? It’s use WOLED panel and that is ? Really
Please,,make videos about gsync latency test with monitor gaming like asus dell asus rog acer, and the best nvidia panel setting
👀👀
Kindly do review for phones too please. Samsung galaxy S24 ultra
👀
So since this one Cannot pass thru Dts, does that mean I can’t watch my Blu-rays & 4K movies thru my home theater system (?), or does that only mean it won’t do that if you just use the TV’s speakers themselves? 🤷♂️🤔
Remember people: Never update your firmware on a /Samsung/ TV. They will nerf it to oblivion before newer models come out. Samsung is the only company that does it.
Nah just get an external box, Apple TV, Google TV, Fire stick, anything is better than you TV's OS.
I wouldn't buy Samsung becaus ethe software truly gets worse and slower with time. My QN90A sometimes is unusable, like it's not just slow. It's infuriating.
My old 7000U I moved to the bedroom is the same way.
My Sony android tv which is only 4-5 years old is terribly slow now. Most smart TVs will slow down after a few years.
Get an apple tv 4k...
You just described literally every single computer. They'll all slow down eventually
I love samsung QDOLED tv, the colors are much superior and produces more natural skin tones than LGs oled tvs
We bought a 77inches S90D and the power board is dead 3 days after.
"SDR content is significantly dimmer than HDR content" Isn't it supposed to be?
Can you confirm if the UK models are QOLED or WOLED for the 55”
Thank you
Hi , im from Peru !!! Which is better LG Oled C4 vs Samsung oled s90d?
These reviews would be so much better without all the corn and overselling of "cute."
Best Tv Out there in the market....obviously looks terrible out of the box , but it has the tools....
Although all these advantages, the controller of samsung is enough reason to choose LG instead
im fine with woled for the 48 inch due to qd-oled isn't available for that size. plus i have a lg c1 and can not buy another lg cause my setup is a gaming type so if i have two lg tvs one remote will control both tvs so im fine
❤❤❤ I will take this any day over Matte screen :) 😊
I agree but the matte one isn't too bad
@@nttinvis says eveyone who has NOT had full gloss screen . Once u have glossy laptop screen u can’t go back with matte . If u have had matte all the time , then it’s not too bad .
@Yoga_Tv_buying i dont like matte i saw s95d its matte isn't bad for a matte screen but it still hurtz quality
@@nttinvis hey appreciate that. Yeah “not too bad” is def too bad enough for most tho for TV buying .Matte screen is like a STACY/chad has acne scars all over face. Cant escape it.
@Yoga_Tv_buying i agreee it destroys the color vibration and makes it look less vibrant and crisp, they should just do like the gorilla glass anti reflective
Thank you for the great review. Can you tell me if the 77inch is QD-OLED? Thank you
Peter
It is in North America.
@@Icipher4 Thank you. I'm in western Canada
@@PETERThompson-e6h yeah all 77 in North America are QD OLED. Unfortunately for our European friends that might not be the case.
@@Icipher4 Great thank you
There she is! Lol. Great in depth review as usual!
Lots of useful detail, yet not one mention of the one thing I want to know. How does the bluetooth auracast feature perform?
So where is your review of the smaller WOLED versions ?
The panel lottery on 55 inch is holding me back on hitting buy button and this is currently in my cart, cant understand why samsung cant clarify their stand on this. Region wise this might change.
It’s gonna be qd oled for 55-77, it’s only 42,48, and 83 that use woled
@@alexx1917 Hope so i bought it just now.
Ohh I am so sad there is no philips 8 series oled over there. I can't find out where it lines up with all the other high end tvs
Ads on tv? Well, pull off the network cable, solved.
So whats better S90C or S90D?
It doesn't matter, both are way ahead of every WOLED and PC monitor. The panel is basically flawless.
It's like owning a 4K CRT monitor (i own a Samsung pseudo 1440p monitor). The motion clarity of both QD OLEDs is amazing and you don't lose colors or brightness that much in BFI because the screens by default are very bright.
Way, way too bright for my taste but extremely versatile for anything that you want. They are good as PC monitors for work as well.
Does this TV play well with Comcast?
Hey guys! Just wanted to know before purchasing this one, does the low quality content smoothing is a deal breaker here? In other words, what considered as a low quality content here? I dont want to buy the c4 but i think that this is a pretty good reason to go for it, isnt it? Thanks a lot
What did you end up getting? I’m on the same boat. Is the S90D good enough to stream movies? Thanks
no dts, no deal. simple 12345
Thanks!
It definitely should be!

It's last years Flagship, so It likely is.
If you take a look through our comparison viewer, the S90D is slightly better in terms of both processing and HDR brightness www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/samsung-s95c-oled-vs-samsung-s90d-s90dd-oled/37894/49703?usage=1&threshold=0.10
The S90D is even a little cheaper than the S95C!
Waiting for Samsung qn 800D 800D review and upscaling performance details

How does the S90D compare to the S95C? The S95C is currently cheaper.

Any information on the devices lan speed?
Hello everyone!
I wanted your opinion regarding my current situation of S90D
So basically, I got a really sweet deal on the S90D 77" which was here on HUGE sale in Middle east Saudi Arabia for around 2300$ which is super nice for that price!
