      Practical wisdom from the man whose son is an abuser and says spooky things like grown men are attracted to 13 year old girls, rape is not so bad it's more the effect of it...etc. Of course the title of this video is a lie to trap people into religion...

    Thankyou Rabbi for this shiur. This really helped me change the way in which I serve Hashem. I didn't realize how much I was trying to be religious, like the book 'How to be the most religious person in the world.' I was too busy with trying to look it on the outside whilst neglecting the true service for Hashem from my heart. Saying autonomous and empty prayers and actions. No wonder I was looking outside of myself for approval from others. Now I can serve Hashem with kavanah and my own path has begun to unfold before me. Thankyou for being true and real in your shiurim. I went straight to my heart. I got something new from all that I've listened to so far.

      Not bringing sources - this is simply his unique style of speaking. I have had the pleasure of learning from texts with him and I can attest that he’s actually a very well-versed Torah scholar (he even served as one of the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s redactors) but his aim here is not to inundate with sources but rather to distill the essence of the mystical teachings of Torah - and deliver in a delightful and palatable way that anyone can receive. After a while listening to him, you may be inspired to study the sources in Chabad chassidic teachings yourself!

      @Le Ed -- Ny reply may not be the best, but allow me to give it a try: Reality is circular, it is not square, but viewing it as such is a very widespread misunderstanding which we have lived with since,... well, the dawn of religion. Rabbi Friedman does give very fine answers on his way around the circle of living, of grace, loving, and of square lens problems. And in my view, he does it wonderfully.

    There is a difference between law: you ought! And grace through love: I want. Ought vs. Want. Law or Grace. Justice or. Mercy. Justice means I must go to prison. Mercy means I forgive you. I need mercy and grace otherwise I get law and justice.

    • @annturi5826
      @annturi5826 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hello Ted Bates. Your comment intrigues me. I agree with the basic premise. I just wonder if "grace and mercy" can exist without "law and justice". For example: if someone likes to do harm to others, like killing people, how long should we show "grace and mercy" before we use "law and justice"? This is an issue I have struggled with for quite some time. What is your opinion on this?
      Many thanks for your reply in advance. Most kind regards

      @ellenfrancis67 thank you dear friend, I think the best answer I can give is that grace and mercy make law and justice possible- and vice versa. They temper each other. In fact, law and justice without grace and mercy cannot really exist. It is just that we show mercy. I am both spirit and human. To protect my humanness I do have to draw boundaries. To nurture my spirit, I must forgive. It is through grace that we can forgive. I pray that like our Loving Source, I am slow to anger, and quick to forgive. Many Blessings.

    I'm much more motivated to do for others, to encourage them, to advice them to succeed, to bring the best out of them. I do it joyfully, but sometimes I think that maybe I don't do enough for myself. I sometimes wish that I was more selfish or more ambitious when it came to me. I'm very critical of this. Interesting view point. Although I'm not so sure that it's not more of a burden to know that we must serve God. lol Thank you, I enjoyed listening to your sermon. BTW I'm a Christian.

      G-d Created us even knowing we would disobey Him, He has shown mercy to us and All our Generations before us. G-d Tell us if you Love Me Obey Me, well tell our children this as well. Disobedient children don't respect their Parents and don't love them, but if Kids Love this Parents then they Obey. Your Parents pay for yall your needs and then you are able to go on your own, G-d Never Stops Providing or we would all die. We should be doers not just hearers of His Laws, we are Blessed by His Laws as a Father has Laws for His Children and not others Children so this Means we our His.

    I never met this Rabbi in person, but yet I can proudly say He is my teacher. Fine-tuning to the universal frequency and contributing to the eternal strings of music is what we were born for, We are energy so we have a frequency and all we need is to fit in harmoniously with our creator. Religion is a deviation from this simple reality, we don't need any religion. A common path that can define our role as a component of the universe is good enough.

      Asking this might be a rebellious question but we all ask why are we born, but when you reply as this Rabbi has replied you teach not just say it's wrong. You say I was not asked, my mother and father did not ask nor did Adam or Eve ask to be Created. Why are we here? Because G-d Wanted us here that's why so no one asked because no one was there too ask. Children ask a lot of questions and sometimes they ask questions we might not like but if we can turn that unwanted questions into a teaching moment that's a Gift a Gift to Teach and to Learn how to Teach so you are Blessed when your Child ask so you can Answer them.

      I'm not a child an still ask,lol there is a purpose which I may not figure out, being from a 5 siblings me being last n 7yr diff from my nearest sib, I kinda was not wanted at least to me it seemed. My closest sib who I really think is my favorite of them all, well growing up wanted nothing to do with me n then they got older n moved on. I did make it up with them when I became an adult n lived near their family n a time with the family,lol. So was that a good thing? I think so! It can be a very hard time for kids an where they were in the family. First child, second child an so forth. I have done some readingvin the psychology of what this does depending on # birth order. It gave me understanding however late that it was when I found out about this. Anyway.. Thanks Rabbi - enjoy your wisdom & insight!!
