  • Tiritiri Matangi is a predator free island sanctuary in the Hauraki Gulf near Auckland. It's brimming with birdlife with sites such as Takahe, Kakariki and Saddleback. Notably, Tiritiri Matangi is home to over 20 pairs of North Island Kokako, which feature in this video. I highly recommend visiting as the moment you set foot on the island you are greeted with the sound of birdsong.

    Went there on my birthday. Went wandering from the group and saw a pair of kokako hopping on the same path I rekon. Made my day. Thanks to all the volunteers who made the day possible .

      Here in Ruawai I often spot Kotuku and Australasian bittern 😍
