  • Maikan and Digital Flight Productions are excited to show you the story of the incredible island of Tiritiri Matangi in New Zealand through the eyes of Michael Watson.
A remarkable place where many of the Amazing New Zealand (bird) species that are threatened on the mainland are actually doing well through amazing joint human conservation efforts.
Michael is one of the younger guides on the island and has been educating the public, including many kids about the beauty of New Zealand Wildlife and Plantlife that can be found on this remarkable little island. The tremendous passion that he and his colleague guides have for "Tiri" is incredible and inspiring to see. In this short doc he talks about the unique place the island is and about the amazing conservation success story that has been written here. But also about his love and hopes for nature, conservation, wildlife, the beautiful New Zealand (bird) species and the planet. He will show you the GORGEOUS bird species you can find there!! If you love (New Zealand) birds or know people who do definitely check it out or share the clip! It was a fantastic experience to see "Tiri" through his eyes.
Thank you Michael!! And also many thanks to Kata and the Department of Conservation The Supporters of Tiritiri Matangi Island and Fullers360 - Experiences & Cruises for making this possible. All Music sourced from Soundstripe..

1:30 you’re not kaitiaki. To be a kaitiaki you need to be in the environment active 24/7 365 days a year for 1000+ years being a kaitiaki. The only mortals who can be kaitiaki are mana whenua bcuz the role is in the blood and no matter the circumstances that bloodline knows their responsibility and will never leave

Supporting those who care about the environment is certainly better than criticising.
