Is Arceus Viable? (Spoiler: Yes)
This video will discuss the differences between something being Viable, and something being Optimal within Pokemon Showdown.

When I was younger, I wanted to build a team with Terrakion on my 3DS, but I didn't know how to hunt for a good one, so I settled on Sawk. I made it to the finals of a local tournament with Sawk, even though it was a downgrade in every way to Terrakion, basically.

You could even be suboptimal by running *more* IVs. Special attackers are optimal at 0 attack IVs, so you could run one with an attack IV of 1 and be suboptimal.

You should know- the Eevee and Absol guy on r/stunfisk was a massive asshole and total weirdo. Upon realising that nobody was going to explain how to optimise his Pokemon beyond, you know, swapping them for viable ones, he started throwing out crazy insults and claiming his team was already good enough to win 'four out of five battles against an experienced opponent'. Obviously he was ridiculed and to this day lives on as a fond memory shared by the subreddit.
But it gets worse. A little dig into this creature's post history revealed some INTERESTING things- requests for Pokemon porn roleplays, alongside activity in many other NSFW communities that many would consider downright disturbing, controversial views on transgender people, and also being really bad at competitive Pokemon.
So yeah. That's the story of Absol and Eevee guy. And those posts are still up, you can go read everything he said right now.

Reminds me of Nidoking, if you're seriously having trouble with Blissey you might run focus punch instead of 4 special attacks, it's normally not viable to run physical Nidoking but in that one scenario it might be the best choice

Another big thing that people need to realize is there is almost always a tier for a specific mon to be good in. Exeggutor in gen 1 ou for example, or Golbat in gen 1 7u.
Yep! You could just up and make your own tier (all tiers are just social constructs after all) and have some random Pokemon be the maximum power for that tier, in which case it would be the most viable Pokemon. So I guess any Pokemon can be Optimal or Viable then.

hey man, cool video. I havent finished watching yet, but I wanna say that you might want to mix the background music a little quiter. Its a little hard to hear what you're saying in certain sections of the video, which is frustrating because its well written and I'd like to listen. I dont mean for this to come off is hateful, I mean it only as constructive criticism.
