I just want to have my point of view regarding to what really happen on that SUA video. Firstly if you used to drive a manual transmission you will have three pedals where as in automatic transmission there are only two so if you are stepping both pedals there's a tendency for confusion assuming that your left foot was on the clutch and the other was on the brake which is not, cause it is the accelerator pedal. Another which I can't figure it out, I don't know if he steps the brake because I didn't saw the brake light illuminate when he put it in reverse and it shouldn't be like that. Before you can shift to REVERSE or DRIVE your foot should be on the brake. Lastly, the reason why the car moved forward after hitting on the rear while reversing was, the driver may still holding the shifting lever and because of the force the lever was accidentally put on drive and eventually the car wildly moved forward. This however is a purely opinion and I am not putting it as a conclusion nor invalidate the others point of view.
Why is it not sold in the US and Japan? 1. Diesel Body on Frame SUV's don't sell well in these countries, using that logic of Atty Tamaru, The Montero Sport rivals too, namely The Fortuner, the MUX, the Ford Everest are also not sold in US and Japan, are they unsafe too? 2. Karen did say that the US 'loves SUV's' and its correct, but look at the SUV's sold there, 4runner, Explorer, Tahoe, Grand Cherokee etc and all of them share one common trait, THEY RUN ON PETROL....diesel do not sell well there unlike in Europe, SEA and Australia where diesels are common. 3. The Montero Sport is made primarily for the 3rd world market like Latin America, Southeast Asia and India.....though also available in some European countries and Australia(which its pick-up twin, the Strada/Triton is used as a "Ute").

reversing an automatic car. Using only one foot --> Apply brake --> then shift Reverse --> then hit accelerator. Immediate reaction when there is sudden movement is to apply brake. If the driver thought that the brake is the accelerator RPM will be high and very loud and immediately a normal driver will release his foot from its current position and check. Things happened very fast. Why after hitting the back, the car move forward. Remember the shift stick can be moved from P to Drive even without pressing the brake. Maybe due to impact, the shift stick lock broke and swung from P to D. If the occurence is too many, I think this has something to do with safety feature fault (mainly the engagement of shift stick without 1st pressing the brake is missing).
yes, same observation. most of thos incidents, they changed GEARS w/o pressing on BRAKE PEDAL but by changing GEARS and pressing Shift lock at the same time. i think they have abused it, and for the long run, the gear malfunctioned or the ECU occured some errors due to that bad driving habit. I do notbelieve taht SUA happened beavuse of Human Error due to misstep of Vrake and Gas pedal. they are driver, they already mastered the fast reaction time. even if they mistakenly preas gas pedal from a brake pedal, it will only take them a split second to revert their mistake

Unlike my Hilux whose acceleration is quite gradual, the sudden surge of speed around 2000 rpm of the 2.5 4d56t motor of the strada may shock a lot of inattentive drivers. The distance between the accelerator and the brake pedals is too close that sometimes I hit the edge of the accelerator pedal when I hit the brakes, No wonder people sometimes confuse one pedal for the other.

Are not ready using the montero , it is a fast suv of its kind, versatile transmission if you are not used to hand pedal shifting, titronic, including putting your feet always before starting engines and before shifting it to drive "D" .if its you first time to drive an automatic car and don't drive on the montero! Observed first, let somebody drive for you, an experienced one then practice at your phase slowly once you are confident enough then you are ready to drive a montero sport. you ride the montero you need to study this, it is not like a simple car to drive. now i see clearly its drivers error... the car was in park.. he put it one down he thought it was drive.. so he went reverse.. he panicked then put it on drive and he press hard on the gas..
My thoughts. Driver placed Montero in Park (correct). Owner thought it was in Neutral. Shifted down one(1) click and thought it was in Drive. When stepped on gas, he thought car was sliding backwards, so pressed more gas so car even accelerated more backwards.

I dont believe that all of the complaints about sudden acceleration which is continually rising in numbers are all caused by human error. Of course, they will not admit that some, if not all of them are somewhat defective because it will have a great impact on sales and it will cost them probably a lot of time and money to recall/refund or whatever solution they have. The cars involved in the accidents should be thoroughly checked by a third party which is capable or knowledgeable in the field to avoid biased opinion and to assure the consumers about the result of the investigation is really objective

I can see that even Karen does not believe that there are no defect/s on the vehicles. She's right that computers or electronic devices are man-made and it is possible to have an error just like other electronic devices like cellphones, computers etc. If the guys(execs) dont beliieve of montero's sudden acceleration then why did he mentioned something about electronic problem. The ECU has a safety feature that enables the vehicle to stop or shut down its power to avoid an accident. This feature will never fail. Yes gadgets and computers fail but these do not LARGELY involve life threatening situations. Vehicles are expected to go through more safety tests and measure since they totally deal with lives and safety of their customers. No manufacturer would compromise their integrity for that.
And what the execs meant by electronic problem was that it can happen but not an SUA as a result or outcome since the ECU has its safety barrier. Try doing some research on how a car works before concluding just by what he said and what she said.

Mensahe para sa Mitsubishi Motors Philippines. Maghanda na kayo kasi pag meron nang credible third party na mag a-analyze ng problema ng Montero SUA lalabas na ang tunay na dahilan. Mag concontrate sila duon sa mga Montero units na naaksidente hindi tulad na ginawa niyong testing ng SUA sa normal na Montero. Alam niyo naman na ang electronics defect ay "reproducible" pag na simulate ang parehong condition bago maaksidente. Ang hirap sa inyo, dapat public safety ang pinaka importante sa inyo dahil pag me namatay hindi na maibabalik pero inuna niyong iligtas yung business nyo. Tignan nyo, pag hindi ninyo hinanap yung problema ng SUA, meron pang ma-aaksidente. Yung last na aksidente nangyari Dec 16 2015 sa Tutuban Manila at Dec 7 2015 sa Iloilo. Pag aralan nyo naman yung failure rate nyo na nasa 98/60000 katumbas ng 0.16% na affacted units. Ibig sabihin hindi lalabas yung SUA na problem sa lahat ng Montero, duon lang sa mga units na nakatanggap ng mga "discrepant parts" or madaling masirang parts na most likely electronics control. I dont believe that all of the complaints about sudden acceleration which is continually rising in numbers are all caused by human error. Of course, they will not admit that some, if not all of them are somewhat defective because it will have a great impact on sales and it will cost them probably a lot of time and money to recall/refund or whatever solution they have. The cars involved in the accidents should be thoroughly checked by a third party which is capable or knowledgeable in the field to avoid biased opinion and to assure the consumers about the result of the investigation is really objective

I can see that even Karen does not believe that there are no defect/s on the vehicles. She's right that computers or electronic devices are man-made and it is possible to have an error just like other electronic devices like cellphones, computers etc. If the guys(execs) dont beliieve of montero's sudden acceleration then why did he mentioned something about electronic problem. That being mentioned is a defect of some sort on the vehicle
The ECU has a safety feature that enables the vehicle to stop or shut down its power to avoid an accident. This feature will never fail. Yes gadgets and computers fail but these do not LARGELY involve life threatening situations. Vehicles are expected to go through more safety tests and measure since they totally deal with lives and safety of their customers. No manufacturer would compromise their integrity for that.
And what the execs meant by electronic problem was that it can happen but not an SUA as a result or outcome since the ECU has its safety barrier. Try doing some research on how a car works before concluding just by what he said and what she said.

Maghanda na kayo kasi pag meron nang credible third party na mag a-analyze ng problema ng Montero SUA lalabas na ang tunay na dahilan. Mag concontrate sila duon sa mga Montero units na naaksidente hindi tulad na ginawa niyong testing ng SUA sa normal na Montero. Alam niyo naman na ang electronics defect ay "reproducible" pag na simulate ang parehong condition bago maaksidente.
Ang hirap sa inyo, dapat public safety ang pinaka importante sa inyo dahil pag me namatay hindi na maibabalik pero inuna niyong iligtas yung business nyo. Tignan nyo, pag hindi ninyo hinanap yung problema ng SUA, meron pang ma-aaksidente. Yung last na aksidente nangyari Dec 16 2015 sa Tutuban Manila at Dec 7 2015 sa Iloilo. Pag aralan nyo naman yung failure rate nyo na nasa 98/60000 katumbas ng 0.16% na affacted units. Ibig sabihin hindi lalabas yung SUA na problem sa lahat ng Montero, duon lang sa mga units na nakatanggap ng mga "discrepant parts" or madaling masirang parts na most likely electronics control.
Meron kayong pagkakataon ngayon na itama ang mail ninyo, pag hinid nyo ginawa yung identification ng mga Montero na gumamit ng "affected and discrepant parts", meron pa tayong aksidente uli at kayo ang may kasalanan at mananagot.
