Also the next episode theme, sped up version sounded like a casino with the chatacters talking over it building anticipation. Nostalgia glasses are real and damn is it nice.
The older I get the more this song depresses me. So much time gone, so many experiences while growing up just seem like a dream you had at this point. Wish you could just hit the reset button and go back and do it again. Reminds me of my best friend too; was way more into this show than I was at that age. He passed away at 26 this last September. With the context of the show the lyrics in this song have taken on a whole new meaning to me.
i feel the exact same way, I always think that i wouldn't be the same person if i would have never came upon this wonderful show as a kid. Sorry for your loss I'm sure he's resting in peace.
If that world of Yu Yu Hakusho really would exist, I'm sure he'll be turned into a great spirit detective as well... I'm really sorry for your loss but I think he surely must have been happy to have had such a good friend like you.
Things were so simple back then.. a Gameboy "with some Pokemon Silver"...a bed...and the next episode of Yu Yu late at night. I hope I'm not alone here! xD
+HoneyMixes I can't even say I'm that old but yet I know what you are talking about "things were so simple back then". lol guess we've come farther than we thought.
I certainly loved to watch this show as a child, so of course there's some nostalgia; However, when I was a kid, there's no way I could appreciate the deeper messages and themes in the show, or even relate them to my life. Not only has this show gotten better for me over the years, but I've had the opportunity to see other great works of fiction. Though sometimes it's nice to reminisce on the joys of childhood, maturing and gaining wisdom is ultimately a good thing, which just happens to be the message of this very song. P.S. Mine was the original Super Smash Bros.
[Verse 1] Running in a crowd In a faceless town I need to feel the touch of a friend In the countryside I wander far and wide The isolation gets me again I don't know where to go When I feel like crying "Oh my!" It's time to open myself Do something new I want to stop and grow up a bit [Refrain] Then suddenly, my power and confidence start swelling up Magically erupt And it's all because of the kindness that I feel From people I don't even know Then suddenly, my intuition and my wisdom grow And then I know That most of all I sense compassion's real Thanks to strangers where ever I go Thank you for waking me up! [Verse 2] Until now, how many times I've tried To tell you "please take care of yourself" Then with tear-stained eyes, I sadly said "Good-bye" As I waved and wished you "Farewell" Then I think of how How much longer I must wait I look inside myself And feel something new I want to stop and grow up a bit [Verse 3] It's all because, I'm feeling sad And then I cry, I don't know why The courage that I need, the power to succeed Gives me the strength to fly It's all because of when I see my friends, oh my Every time They're always behind me pushing me on Lighting the fire in me (Fire in me!) [Refrain] Then suddenly, my power and confidence start swelling up Magically erupt And it's all because of the kindness that I feel From people I don't even know I won't forget, the times we shared on those pleasant days Always And I'll never lose the strength to succeed The courage to do what I must Your smile makes my heart explode!

Since that night, this has been my favorite anime of all time, even to the point of using the alias "King Raizen" ever since. It's been 15 years. RIP Grandma... From what little I knew of you due to the severe Alzheimer's disease taking your mind from you at such a young age, you were one of my favorite people.
Ken Sama damn I dount cry at poems or stories but this was really damn close by the way I’m sorry for your loss I know it’s tuff. I when to my uncles house too and I didn’t know why till my mom said he was dead on the bed. Ever since I never met ether of my uncles. this opening is simply the best because of how powerfully its nostalgia is and how strongly it hits you with the sound of its melody. its like finding yourself again after a long time of wandering in the darkness. only yu yu hakusho fans would understand this feeling and what i mean by it
Being born in the 90s I've had the privilege of enjoying 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s and now 2020s animes, and trust me when I tell you; nothing beats a good 80s/90s anime. The animation technology was not as advanced as it is today so the storytelling had to be on point.
The old style has a certain charm to it. Your eyes are more drawn to what's happening rather than getting distracted during important scenes. It's also interesting to see how they animated backgrounds and such even though it wasn't all that important during an episode. Anime nowadays is just getting too ridiculous with cgi and such
DarkLust1978 Well, I like the ending. Yusuke realizes that the whole reason he started fighting was to protect his friends and loved ones. I'm glad he went back for Kayko. Everybody accepted their humanity and drew strength from it, like how human spirit energy is stronger than demon energy. So, i think it fit perfectly with this song and really made me happy. :)
I haven't heard this in so so long, but wow did the memories come flooding back. Not just of the show, but times long past and friends no longer here. I'm in tears. Such beautiful, bittersweet nostalgia.
Togashi makes amazing characters This is probably the only series i could not pick a favorite character cuz these 4 are so well written but Yusuke has the best dub lines and that he is the funniest shonen character to hear complain. Second are Hiei's wisecracks, especially towards Kuwabara
Congress, the Retirement Home for the Useless It's funny too because ultimately nothing about the character design is unique or anything. It's easy to point the finger that "everything has already been done" but YYH proves that even relatively unoriginal tropes and ideas when just actually done well will stand up very strong.
Yusuke is a great main character and in general I'm not a fan of MC's anime because most of them come across as a generic Shonen character but DANG Yusuke is so refreshing and fun to watch.
I'm, really late to the party I just started it on 9anime. and it's just as hype, and awesome as everyone has been saying. and I love the spirit sword it's fucking badass, rock on kuwabara!.
Elwood Hellsythe It just gives me that sense of nostalgia that makes you want to go back and relive it again for the first time. Yu Yu Hakusho will always be one of my favourites :3
Asugi Candy Thief I'm sorry li'l bro, I've just been really busy lately :/ classes started back up and there was like a solid 2 weeks where I was ridiculously sick. I'm still alive though XD
This song makes me taery eyed for two reasons. Number one nistalgia of watching this show in my high school days and number two being a twitch streamer and meeting do many new people during meet ups and conventions and establishing new bonds.
I have so much love for this show. It makes me sad that those days of looking forward to saturday night to come home and watch Yu Yu Hakusho and Naruto and all the other great shows on Toonami late at night every week are over. Then I'd go to school and talk about it with friends and play fight as different characters. Hearing this reminds me that even though I don't have the most exciting life right now with very many friends, I would never want a different one.
TheTurtleVillage That was some deep shit my dude...and I feel you 100%. It was all a fantasy world when we were younger....the older you get...the more basic everything gets. Don't lose your imagination guys!!
HoneyMixes Thanks man, and wow I had no idea I got 30 likes on this. I still feel the same way. Life was good then and life is good now, just in a different way.
Both of you guys are awesome! All jokes aside, your comments made me tear up while listening to this song. I'm a former soldier who's been to war and nothing's ever really been the same since. You guys remind me of my younger days (I'm 28) when I enjoyed watching this as well. life's tough and it's good to find ppl who value the simpler times. I wish you both the best.
I'm one of the few who think yuyu blows dbz out of the water. i mean, the supporting cast (hiei, kurama and kuwabara) keep up with the main protagonist.
Elijah Growe i miss old shonen anime watching dbs right now and the transformations seem useless in fact the so far the only transformation that didn't feel like it was instantly nerfed was gokus ultra instinct but vegetas royal blue it's still not enough to compete with jiren even gohans super saiyan 2 wasn't immediately made useless when he fought cell that's how it feels now with the transformations like the only time they stand out is when they are fighting opponents much weaker than them also how strong is a form when krillin the walking punchline/punching bag can keep up with you krillin who has his own custom made counting gag about how often he gets his ass kicked in TFS dragon ball
Running in a crowd, In a faceless town, I need to feel the touch of a friend. In the countryside, I wander far and wide. The isolation gets me again. Just finished this anime on October 10th in dub. A real good OG Shonen. A hilarious main character, 4 lovable characters (1 being main character), decent story, tear jerking moments (especially first episode), and a great tournament arc.
And there aren't many animes that are better than Dragon Ball Z if there were dragon ball z wouldn't be so popular ay? Most anime's i've seen are cringe asf fuck ESPECIALLY the animes that come out today fucking one chaan and yuki bullshit fiezhjsdqsiqàhdfiàqbfiqsb
dragon ball is the most popular anime in the world but not the best anime of the world, dragon ball only beats some animes in fights but in history dragon ball is a shit much as the original as z
I'm so close to finishing this anime and let me just say I speak for all those who love this anime as much as I do we'll remember this anime even in the after life man I freakin love Yu yu hakusho it's probably the best anime I've seen so far and I'm going to be sad when I finish it but damnit I'm going to cherish this anime forever!! Thank you Yu yu hakusho!
+Humberto Velez It's just a shame that the company forced the creator to rush the second half of the last season. He had really interesting plans for it. Instead of a demon war we got a crappy tournament. He also wanted to kill one or two main characters.
i could tell by how the show went that in a way he wanted to kill a main character or character... the tournament was ok but a war wouldve been amazing
+Humberto Velez if you read the manga there's one more story arc that was never adapted in the anime and let me tell you..you will not look at the series the same with what id talks about Spirit World
its like battling myself to keep all the tears and nostalgia bottled up everytime i hear this song... been through so much since i last heard this song, that hearing it at 25 made me realize so much
"Its all because of when I seeeeee my friends oh my, everytime. There always behind me, pushing me on. Lighting the fire in meeeeeeeeeee." This, this right here. You get yourself a good support network of people and friends that truly care about you and I promise you, you can do anything.
People say this anime is 'dead'. But it looks pretty damn 'revived' to me. I mean, they put a LOT of 'spirit' into making this master piece. I'm sorry. I'll go jump off a bridge now.
I never watched this anime growing up, but I started watching it today and already went through 5 episodes. GOOD SHOW! Man, was I missing out! Plan to finish the whole series this week or next.
I started watching this about a month or two ago since unfortunately I missed out on a lot of the older anime series (from being too young to appreciate it) ,and it really makes me miss the love and care that used to be put into anime. This series really hypes me up when I watch it in the morning ,and it helps me get through my hectic school life. I know I'm going to miss it dearly when I finish, but I'm still so glad I was recommended this.
This anime has always been my favorite ever since I was a child. I cannot express how much I love this. Every time I listen to this I could cry. Thank you Togashi.
I saw this on adult swim uncensored as a kid, then they took it took cartoon network abd censored it. The rage I had when they didn't swear, and I was 10! That was my first taste of the harsh truth of anime censorship -_-
sophie woodman the cigarette turned into a lolli didn't bother me too much since they probably didn't want to "promote" drug use. what bothered me though is that fact that they turned the flint-lock pistols and rifles into squirt guns but even worse they don't censor the Cannons or melee weapons in the show, i'm like WTF!? censorship is weird man.
sophie woodman even better i remeber in season 1 of the 4Kids version of pokemon where some random ruffian is threatening Pikachu with a FUCKING GLOCK PISTOL but they don't censor it (sorry for the vulgar language)
Lucky for me I had the original on dvd for me and my family to watch on our own tv uncensored. In which probably scarred me when I was little with the heavy gore.
I started tearing up with "please take care of yourself" and started up again with "I wont forget the time we've shared" it's like a Mr. Roger's moment for me. It aint that deep ,but knowing this fine ass anime hasnt aired in years. This was the first anime for me after Drahon ball z with brother. Man i miss my guys! I just miss them outside of the media outlets and miss seeing them on my tv
This reminds me of my best friend from 2002. We were into this show BIG time when it came to toonami. He moved away a few years later and i never seen him again. Maybe somewhere in the world he will hear this song and think of me like i think of him. Thank you Yu Yu Hakusho the nostalgia i feel from this song makes me feel like im chatting it up with an old friend.
+Koyomi Araragi I finally have, Araragi-senpai. It was . . . yeah, it was pretty good. The final fight with Sensui kind of dragged on, though. His divine armor stuff was a bit lame. But it was good. Highlight was Keiko in tight brown jeans.
Man this show made me so happy as a kid! I use to pretend I was Yusuke with the spirit gun and I'd also pretend my pets were the evil villains. HA! I whooped their asses by the way! XD Great show!!!
So this literally just happened. I'm filling up my gas tank at the gas station and I decided to play this song even though im not in the car. Just hearing the tune makes me happy. The person on the otherside of my pump sticks his head around the corner and asks me "is that the yuyu Hakusho theme song?!" I laugh and tell him "it sure is man!" He then takes off his slipper "dude..." and shows it to me. I see the coolest design of the cast of the show on his slipper. It's crazy that in 2022, memories of this show still bring people together. I wish I asked him his name. Till we meet again fellow Spirit Detective....
I remember watching this ages ago and the nostalgias so real. I wish the final arc was longer, it felt a bit rushed and yusuke and keiko getting together was amazing
One thing that I love about this anime is the fact that the opening song NEVER changed. The ending may have...but not the opening. Which made it that more special. I love this freaking anime!!!
I love reading all of these comments. I feel like I'm in middle school again talking to my classmates, but we're all grown up. ♡ YuYu Hakusho was the first anime (besides Pokémon) I ever saw. I grew up without TV until 7th grade and didn't know how a TV schedule worked, so I only saw random episodes and never knew what was going on, but I liked it anyway. Now, 20 years later, I finally decided to watch the show for real--and I am blown away at how good it is!!! Oh my god!!! 😂😂😂 And I keep crying! I had no idea how much of this show I've been carrying deep in my subconscious, especially the theme song, which I don't even remember remembering, if that makes sense. I can't BELIEVE I waited 20 years to watch this show! Hahaha. It's kind of hilarious. But hey, now I can appreciate it even more with nostalgia ripened over 20 years. It feels like the most epic return to my true self since the day I saw it first.
Greatest thing about YYH is: *IT ALL CAME FULL CIRCLE WHEN YUSUKE FINALLY MET KEIKO AT THAT BEACH!* That was beautiful! Why can't every anime end on top, like this?
I haven't heard this song in so many years that when I heard this it was like I unlocked a part of my youth that I almost forgot existed. Love the show but after watching it like 3 times straight on adult swim when it was new, I just caught clips on you tube and talked about it, then decided to rewatch. This song was what unlocked most of the nostalgia.
I love this anime so much even though I haven't finished it yet. Even as a kid I would just get to the middle of the dark tournament arc and suddenly stop watching
Really need to rewatch this series. Haven't watched it for about 2 years and probably forgot some stuff in it. This opening is damn catchy and memorable, can't help but get some vibes from it.
I was born in 1999 so I didn't experience the old animes while they were airing. But I was watching DBZ when I was 3 and I'm now 16. I'm on episode 7 of Yu Yu Hakusho, and listening to the opening and watching makes me feel like I was watching it back in the 90s. It was the same with Trigun too. These old animes just do everything right, not to mention, anyone else think old animes have the best dub and are even better dub? Because I've noticed that in the old animes. DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho.
H-Bomber Im glad you appreciate the classics of the older days of anime compare to other youths that only likes new things. You see a difference between modern anime and older ones. I agree English Dub were better tuned and it fits the character more back then compare to new ones that are now very blend and One tuned.
This song was instantly nostalgic. Such a bop. And the vocal performance sounds legitimately like it was done in one take. It's actually super impressive.
running in a crowd, In a faceless town, I need to feel the touch of a friend. In a country side, I wander far and wide, The insolation gets me again... I don't know where to go When I feel like crying Oh my It's time to open myself, Do something new, I want to stop And grow up a bit! Then suddenly, my power and confidence Starts swelling up, magically erupt And it's all because of kidness that I feel From people I don't even know Then suddenly, mw intuition And my wisdom grow And then I know The most of all I sense compassions wield, Thanks to strangers wherever I go... Thank you for waking me up! Up 'til now How many times I've tried To tell you, 'please take care of yourself... ' But with tear-stained eyes, I sadly said goodbye, As I waved and wished you farewell... Then I think of how How much longer, I must wait I look inside myself and feel something new I want to stop and grow up a bit! It's all because I'm feeling sad And then I cry ; I don't know why... The curage that I need, The power to succed, Gives me the strength to fly... It's all because of when I see my friends Oh my! Every time They're always behind me Pushing me on Lighting the fire in me (fire in me) Then suddenly, my power and confidence Starts swelling up, magically erupt And it's all because of kidness that I feel From people I don't even know I won't forget, the times we shared And our pleasant days, always And I'll never lose the strength to succeed And the courage, to do what I must Your smile makes my heart explode!
y do i love this song so much...jus finished this wonderfull anime and i cant stop singing thissssssss!!! ahhhhhhhh "and its all because of kindness that I feel from people I dont even Kno oh oh ohhhhhh"
Such an inspirational and triumphant song that internalize the struggles and chaos one can face within themselves and the immeasurable strength and courage friends can give you. Thanks for uploading!
When I’m feeling well and truly depressed and I’m just unhappy this song never fails to put me in a happy place for a few minutes. I’m so grateful I found this show as a young kid
I will never forget the first time I headed this song I was 8 watching yu yu hakusho on toonami after school episode 13 I was hooked because of the song then fell in love with the show I'm glad I found stumbled on this show
I got to say that this song takes me back to my early childhood. Remembering moments that make you smile and wish that you can live them again and again. Still a beautiful song after all these years.
You know it is a good into when you sit and watch 112 episodes and never feel the urge to skip the intro.
Also the next episode theme, sped up version sounded like a casino with the chatacters talking over it building anticipation. Nostalgia glasses are real and damn is it nice.
So true
Wait... I did that. How did you know???
This, cowboy bebop and the English outro for shin-Chan, never skipped 😩
Watched the entire anime and every time my daughter heard the opening song she would come running just to dance to it! 😂
The older I get the more this song depresses me. So much time gone, so many experiences while growing up just seem like a dream you had at this point. 2Spooky 26th
This song puts that tear jerking nostalgia in me. Those were the days.
Sho right...
Oh yeah I miss those days when Yusuke was kicking the bad guys a$$es lol.
Sounds about right
It literally gives me goosebumps lol
I have cried the same tears, respect!
Things were so simple back then.. a Gameboy "with some Pokemon Silver"...a bed...and the next episode of Yu Yu late at night. I hope I'm not alone here! xD
you are not
Toonami with the "uncensored version". Pretty sure it was Majoras Mask for me though
+HoneyMixes I can't even say I'm that old but yet I know what you are talking about "things were so simple back then". lol guess we've come farther than we thought.
+HoneyMixes Mine was counter-strike and this... SOOOOO much of this x(. I wish it was this simple again

[Verse 1]
Running in a crowd
In a faceless town
I need to feel the touch of a friend
In the countryside
I wander far and wide
The isolation gets me again
I don't know where to go
When I feel like crying
"Oh my!"
It's time to open myself
Do something new
I want to stop and grow up a bit
[Refrain]
Then suddenly, my power and confidence start swelling up
Magically erupt
And it's all because of the kindness that I feel
From people I don't even know
Then suddenly, my intuition and my wisdom grow
And then I know
That most of all I sense compassion's real
Thanks to strangers where ever I go
Thank you for waking me up!
[Verse 2]
Until now, how many times I've tried
To tell you "please take care of yourself"
Then with tear-stained eyes, I sadly said "Good-bye"
As I waved and wished you "Farewell"
Then I think of how
How much longer I must wait
I look inside myself
And feel something new
I want to stop and grow up a bit
[Verse 3]
It's all because, I'm feeling sad
And then I cry, I don't know why
The courage that I need, the power to succeed
Gives me the strength to fly
It's all because of when I see my friends, oh my
Every time
They're always behind me pushing me on
Lighting the fire in me (Fire in me!)
[Refrain]
Then suddenly, my power and confidence start swelling up
Magically erupt
And it's all because of the kindness that I feel
From people I don't even know
I won't forget, the times we shared on those pleasant days
Always
And I'll never lose the strength to succeed
The courage to do what I must
Your smile makes my heart explode!
Nice
Thank you for sharing
Unbelievable
This is like the anime version of "Thank You For Being A Friend" from golden girls
Thanks mate

RIP Grandma... From what little I knew of you due to the severe Alzheimer's disease taking your mind from you at such a young age, you were one of my favorite people.
Ken Sama Damn man. That's touching. 😌
Ken Sama my best wishes to your grandmother
Sorry for your loss, bud.
Ken Sama damn I dount cry at poems or stories but this was really damn close by the way I’m sorry for your loss I know it’s tuff. Oh Yeah Mr Krabz My hero is overrated change my mind
Preach bro this show is god tier
Yu yu hakusho > my hero academia.
More like: Hold our Spirit Wave Orb
I like both *Yu Yu Hakusho* and *My Hero Academia*
The best English dubbed anime ever. No filler episodes as well. Every episode mattered and kicked ass!
Karlitoe Trollitoe yusuke vs yomi was filler
Extended fight. Just a little flourish to wrap up the DWT.
Hmmmm... Definitely up there. I like Outlaw Star better, but that's down to personal preference. They're also VERY different series, with Yu Yu Hakusho being a continuing story, and Outlaw Star being an adventure/slice of (interstellar outlaw) life.
This comment is super old but i think hxh 2011 dub is better than yu yus
@@hariman7727 Outlaw Star is over looked by so many one of my favorites

You're certently right. THis song is so amazing when you are lost i always seem to find myself again everytime i listen to this
Never really watched this show myself, but the I feel the same way listening to Naruto (First part) openings. So nostalgic.

Being born in the 90s I've had the privilege of enjoying 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s and now 2020s animes, and trust me when I tell you; nothing beats a good 80s/90s anime. The animation technology was not as advanced as it is today so the storytelling had to be on point.
facts
It just hits different.
Those 90s animes hit differently. I too was born in the 90s and just feel blessed to have had exposure to so many different styles and eras of Anime.
The old style has a certain charm to it. Your eyes are more drawn to what's happening rather than getting distracted during important scenes. It's also interesting to see how they animated backgrounds and such even though it wasn't all that important during an episode. Anime nowadays is just getting too ridiculous with cgi and such
Facts istg 90s anime is the best but.. there's are some fire ones now
Best Opening of all time.
And Ending too :)
FACTS!!! I never got as hyped as I did when I heard this playing when it was on adult swim
Nah but its up there fist North Star has 2 different intros and there both great and of course samurai champloo
It saddens me when a great anime ends...You wish it could continue but you're relieved that it ended the way it did.
I was pissed when it ended. I got done watching like 3 days ago and was like WTF.. They could have went so much farther with it.
DarkLust1978 Completely agree, Three Kings saga could and should have gone on much longer, but the series is brilliant regardless.
this anime does teach you something compared to any TV show, let alone anime, and that is it's ok to lose in a fight
I'm six years late but Yu yu hakusho had a pretty bad ending really.
I haven't heard this in so so long, but wow did the memories come flooding back. Not just of the show, but times long past and friends no longer here. I'm in tears. Such beautiful, bittersweet nostalgia.
man, the end scene at the beach :'(
I feel you :(
God seriously...
The feels were too much.
***** Well is moives that closes this its called the golden seal
At least they had a happy ending ❤️
The more older you get. The more the songs meaning connects with you. It's quite a blessing to have this song in our existence. #ThankYouYUYUHakusho
Togashi makes amazing characters
This is probably the only series i could not pick a favorite character cuz these 4 are so well written but Yusuke has the best dub lines and that he is the funniest shonen character to hear complain.
Hahaha... The comedy was so good.
Yusuke the smartass.
Kuwabara the dimwit.
Hiei the cynical.
Kurnama the stoic.
Its blended into perfect comedy.
Yusuke is a great main character and in general I'm not a fan of MC's anime because most of them come across as a generic Shonen character but DANG Yusuke is so refreshing and fun to watch.
The characters were so good and had so much more to give he recycled them in hunter×hunter
I'm about to rewatch this whole god damn series
I'm, really late to the party I just started it on 9anime. and it's just as hype, and awesome as everyone has been saying. and I love the spirit sword it's fucking badass, rock on kuwabara!.
@@joshshrum2764 same
@@joshshrum2764 dude it's better than never i only watched a little on toonami when i was a kid but now I'm going to watch the whole series
saaaaame lmao
I'm SUPER LATE I started watching the show and GOD DAMM its too good
man... the feels this song gives me, I will always love this anime. it will forever hold a special place in my heart ^-^
+Sephiran Lehran (Black Winged Heron) IKR :'D
Elwood Hellsythe It just gives me that sense of nostalgia that makes you want to go back and relive it again for the first time. Yu Yu Hakusho will always be one of my favourites :3
Asugi Candy Thief *le gasp* oh no- *jumps into a nearby bush*
Asugi Candy Thief um... I'm still here though... qwq
I do the same
Anime brings out happiness and nostalgia in everyone! 🤟🤟🤟😁
I'm one of the few who think yuyu blows dbz out of the water. i mean, the supporting cast (hiei, kurama and kuwabara) keep up with the main protagonist.
I'm totally with you on this. I'm a pretty big Dragonball fan but this show is the better of the two.
DBZ has Vegeta. Nuff said.
Toguro was a better villain than Majin Buu and Cell in my opinion.
Seamus Stanley I disagree that he is better than Cell, but Buu indeed.
Running in a crowd,
In a faceless town,
I need to feel the touch of a friend.
In the countryside,
I wander far and wide.
The isolation gets me again.
I don't know where to go
When I feel like crying,
"Oh my!"
It's time to open myself,
Do something new,
I want to stop and grow up a bit.
Then suddenly, my power and confidence start swelling up,
Magically erupt.
And it's all because of the kindness that I feel
From people I don't even know.
Then suddenly, my intuition and my wisdom grow,
And then I know
That most of all I sense compassion's real
Thanks to strangers where ever I go.
Thank you for waking me up!
Until now, how many times I've tried
to tell you "please take care of yourself".
Then with tear-stained eyes, I sadly said "Good-bye"
as I waved and wished you "Farewell".
Then I think of how
how much longer I must wait.
I look inside myself,
And feel something new,
I want to stop and grow up a bit
It's all because, I'm feeling sad
and then I cry, I don't know why
The courage that I need, the power to succeed
Gives me the strength to fly
It's all because of when I see my friends, oh my
Every time,
They're always behind me pushing me on,
lighting the fire in me (Fire in me!)
Then suddenly, my power and confidence start swelling up,
Magically erupt.
And it's all because of the kindness that I feel
From people I don't even know.
I won't forget, the times we shared on those pleasant days,
Always.
And I'll never lose the strength to succeed,
The courage to do what I must.
Your smile makes my heart explode!
This song never gets old.
Happy Birthday Yu Yu Hakusho :D It's 24 years old today. One of the best.
Just finished this anime on October 10th in dub. A real good OG Shonen. A hilarious main character, 4 lovable characters (1 being main character), decent story, tear jerking moments (especially first episode), and a great tournament arc.
Shoutouts to Hiei being the badass who inspired futute badasses sasuke and killua (pretty sure, never watched hunter x hunter)
+LS TheProdigy Give it a watch, you will be pleased if you enjoyed Yu Yu Hakusho.
+Missioneer yea i have been watching it recently, i enjoy it
+LS TheProdigy my favorite part of the whole series was when Hiei telling Yusuke he had his back if he failed
ortizfamilyof13 my favorite part was the whole tournament part towards the end
true
I miss the animes from the 90s :(
True
I hear ya.
Nancy Varney Lol 90s had the best anime
Cowboy bebop, Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho were goat
Gilbert1668 great
Anyone who skips this opening doesn't deserve this show.
I can't stop hearing this! This is my ear crack
So you got white stuff in your ear, huh? Okay LOL!
Really? I hadn't noticed...
i think this is better then dbz. just my opinion
a lot of animes are better than dragon ball
Dragon ball? Don't you mean Dragon Ball *Z* because Dragon Ball had a way better story line than DBZ
Miguel Familia Well alright then i don't care what people say i freaking loved that show
All these years later and this song still SLAPS. This and Cannon Buster might be my 2 favorite intros
+Humberto Velez Best Anime speech ever :'( :D
+Humberto Velez It's just a shame that the company forced the creator to rush the second half of the last season. He had really interesting plans for it. Instead of a demon war we got a crappy tournament. He also wanted to kill one or two main characters.
i could tell by how the show went that in a way he wanted to kill a main character or character... the tournament was ok but a war wouldve been amazing
+Humberto Velez Yu Yu Hakusho holds a tight grip on My #1 Anime Of All Time spot...no matter how many years pass..
+Humberto Velez if you read the manga there's one more story arc that was never adapted in the anime and let me tell you..you will not look at the series the same with what id talks about Spirit World
too much Nostalgia.. first anime I ever watched beginning to end.. ty toonami ❤
I second this powerful statement
true
but the end wasn't aired on toonami, did you see season 4
+darkrider281 i thanked toonami simply for making the show aware to me.
its like battling myself to keep all the tears and nostalgia bottled up everytime i hear this song... been through so much since i last heard this song, that hearing it at 25 made me realize so much
This never gets old.... and they just dont make em like this anymore .....100% Masterpiece...
"Its all because of when I seeeeee my friends oh my, everytime. There always behind me, pushing me on. Lighting the fire in meeeeeeeeeee."
This, this right here.
You get yourself a good support network of people and friends that truly care about you and I promise you, you can do anything.
People say this anime is 'dead'. But it looks pretty damn 'revived' to me. I mean, they put a LOT of 'spirit' into making this master piece.
I'm sorry. I'll go jump off a bridge now.
finished this one today
Ha! ghost puns
when you meet botan tell her I'm comin to toss some fish in that ass
Some Scrub that is the best comment I've seen in awhile lol
Tommie Vargas thanks bro
I never watched this anime growing up, but I started watching it today and already went through 5 episodes. GOOD SHOW! Man, was I missing out! Plan to finish the whole series this week or next.
Saturday Night in 2004 looking foward to a new episode of Yu Yu Hakusho Great Memories
She did not have to go as hard as she did!!! She sang her heart out!!
this song will never die. listening 11/11/2020. i've actually been listening to it every day lately.
This anime has always been my favorite ever since I was a child. I cannot express how much I love this. Every time I listen to this I could cry. Thank you Togashi.
I will come back to this video forever
I saw this on adult swim uncensored as a kid, then they took it took cartoon network abd censored it. The rage I had when they didn't swear, and I was 10! That was my first taste of the harsh truth of anime censorship -_-
Mine was the 4kids version of One Piece.......sanjis cigarette replaced with a lollipop amongst many others.
sophie woodman the cigarette turned into a lolli didn't bother me too much since they probably didn't want to "promote" drug use. what bothered me though is that fact that they turned the flint-lock pistols and rifles into squirt guns but even worse they don't censor the Cannons or melee weapons in the show, i'm like WTF!? censorship is weird man.
sophie woodman even better i remeber in season 1 of the 4Kids version of pokemon where some random ruffian is threatening Pikachu with a FUCKING GLOCK PISTOL but they don't censor it (sorry for the vulgar language)
Lucky for me I had the original on dvd for me and my family to watch on our own tv uncensored. In which probably scarred me when I was little with the heavy gore.
Honestly uncensored wasn’t even that bad other than the blood and a few cuss words it was not an U.N. appropriate show at all
I started tearing up with "please take care of yourself" and started up again with "I wont forget the time we've shared" it's like a Mr.
This is jammin'. It makes me want to actually watch the show.
+Trump Voodoo Do it! You won't regret it.
Do it! I just finished rewatching the whole series on here
you done it yet trump voodoo
+Trump Voodoo i know right. banging tune makes me want to watch the show. if only a remake was around the corner...
Lol damn straight you did! Wait what? XD
Hahaha! I didn't beat their asses physically, I did it spiritually!
MarcusMcGrizz I pretended that I made my own moves but on my brothers.
Ok, Michael Vick.....lol
btcutt75 Haha! I meant kicking their butt's by my spirit gun. Not literally hitting/hurting them. I should've been clearer. LOL
*I CAN HAVE THIS ON REPEAT FOR HOURS!* ❤
It's so rare that a dubbed version of a song is better, but hot diggity damn is this good.
The Japanese and English version of this song are both very good, loving it!
The first verse is from Yusuke's perspective and the second verse is from Keiko's perspective. Such a nice attention to detail! I love this song!
These damn onions q.q
Lol ik the feeling
So this literally just happened.
I'm filling up my gas tank at the gas station and I decided to play this song even though im not in the car. Just hearing the tune makes me happy. The person on the otherside of my pump sticks his head around the corner and asks me "is that the yuyu Hakusho theme song?!" I laugh and tell him "it sure is man!"
He then takes off his slipper "dude..." and shows it to me. I see the coolest design of the cast of the show on his slipper.
It's crazy that in 2022, memories of this show still bring people together. I wish I asked him his name. Till we meet again fellow Spirit Detective....
My mom recently died she was the one who introduced me to this show and we binged watched it... It makes me tear up now listening to this song
damn bro... rest in place.
I remember watching this ages ago and the nostalgias so real. I wish the final arc was longer, it felt a bit rushed and yusuke and keiko getting together was amazing
This is one of the most inspirational and Motivating Anime Openings ever. Like whenever I listen to this song I feel like I can do anything.
One thing that I love about this anime is the fact that the opening song NEVER changed. The ending may have...but not the opening. Which made it that more special. I love this freaking anime!!!
I miss 90's Anime....
AHHHH the nostalgia is too much!!
I love reading all of these comments. I feel like I'm in middle school again talking to my classmates, but we're all grown up. ♡
YuYu Hakusho was the first anime (besides Pokémon) I ever saw.
*"FROM PEOPLE I DON'T EVEN KNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!"*
_As these lyrics are being sung Kurama flash transforms into Yoko_
Me: This shit is fire.
Greatest thing about YYH is: *IT ALL CAME FULL CIRCLE WHEN YUSUKE FINALLY MET KEIKO AT THAT BEACH!* That was beautiful!
Why can't every anime end on top, like this?
Claurio Neves well there's Inuyasha

@@krissherard7397 That final season was SO needed for Inuyasha... and thankfully, we got it.
Also... Outlaw Star, and Trigun.
I GOT THE FEELS😢. I MISS WHEN I USED TO WATCH THIS NON-STOP 24/7.
I wasn't even around when this came out and I'm feeling nostalgia.
Thank you so much Hulu. Now I can rewatch my childhood in the best quality than ever before.
17 years later and this song still makes me feel so nostalgic
I love this anime so much even though I haven't finished it yet. Even as a kid I would just get to the middle of the dark tournament arc and suddenly stop watching
I’m glad they know they R&B vibes. New Jack Swing music vibes you know.
This brings tears to a man.
I wish they would do more with this series. I absolutely love it!
Me too, one of my favorite Animes hands down. They continued the Dragon ball universe, hope they do so with this...doubt it though
The wave of emotions this song stirs up is unreal.
This song has saved my life.. several times lol
the feels are over 9000
I’m so glad I finally found the full English version! Man I miss this show
Really need to rewatch this series.

DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, Yu Yu Hakusho.
ricardo Ramirez Go away
Godbless DBZ
H-Bomber Im glad you appreciate the classics of the older days of anime compare to other youths that only likes new things. You see a difference between modern anime and older ones. I agree English Dub were better tuned and it fits the character more back then compare to new ones that are now very blend and One tuned.
By far hands down my favorite intolro theme to any anime ever
Absolute BANGER. Top 3 opener I don’t care what anime you watch.
This song was instantly nostalgic. Such a bop. And the vocal performance sounds legitimately like it was done in one take. It's actually super impressive.
I like both the English and Japanese versions of this song. I don't know which one is my favorite, so I like both of them.

Love the theme song...one of the best anime shows of all time!!!
This encouraged me to watch it again
Same here actually. Its been years since I've watched it. I need to try re-watching/finishing Samurai X as well.

I just started watching it and I just love it.
I just finished it, now I'm sad.
