Thank you for making a video comparing the Mavrik to the Mavrik Max. I know I'm late to the party but I appreciate your help nonetheless.

Spin is subjective as if you are 2 clubs longer you would be hitting a 9 iron to give you the same distance as your current 7 iron. The spin with the 9 would certainly be as high as your 7.

I love my rogue x.. but have the xp95 in regular… during fittings, they keep saying i need a stiff flex…
But in real world play, I hit my rogue x so we’ll. So confident .
If I were to upgrade to another iron that resembles same weight and confidence as x what iron set would u upgrade to? St max? Mavrik?
    Thanks

The loft on the Standard 7i head is 27 deg whilst the Max 7i head is 30 deg which is why the carry and distance is different between the two versions.

Question- I have a friend who wants to pay me $500 for my used Callaway Rogue X. Should I do it and upgrade to the Callaway Mavrik irons

Thanks for the info! This is definitely help me to decide on my next set of irons。 I was under the impression that the Max would carry further distance but I guess not。 Since I’m just a scratch golfer, I‘m thinking of getting the max for more forgiveness。 Thoughts?

Just a scratch golfer? I am not sure if you know what that means if you are needing the forgiveness of the Max.

You compare the wrong clubs, take the Mavrik 8 iron and the X forged 7 iron.

7 iron or 6 iron loft? Weird that the Callaway Maverik (standard) club lists a loft of 27degrees on their website and the MAX is listed at 30 degrees! Pro at 30.5 Seems peculiar... typing the early in your video. Maybe you explain this later in the video ?? Typo on their website ?? 27 degrees kind of screwy strong for a 7i. You will need a fist full of wedges with your swing speed. These are clearly targeted to slower swing speed players who want to "keep up" with higher swing speed players matching iron for iron on Par 3s etc with their faster swing partners. The club manufactures are going all in on playing loft games. Check the lofts on their website !

You are absolutely right. Lofts are getting stronger you can see the Mavrik launch angle is lower by 2 degrees than the other irons. For my swing I would not want these lofts but they might suit certain players with higher launch angles. The average golfer will hit a fade as there normal shot and as a result hit the ball to high. I should have touched on this in the video

I have tested all models as I am a Callaway Fitter and yes they do go farther and even though the lofts are lower the trajectory is still as high as the higher lofted clubs of the same #. If people can hit it the same height but longer that is a good thing. No negatives at all.

Paul Kelly well said mate, people just jump on the strong loft bandwagon without considering launch, landing angle and dynamic loft.

Most people have to many wedges anyway

You could get the max 2 degree stronger, and they would even the battle 😂

Lofts on standard Mavrik are MUCH Stronger. Its not the tech. giving the distance it's just simply hitting a 6 iron with a 7 stamped on it.

    • @lythamgolf1548

Actually it's not simply a 6 iron being hit instead of the 7 iron. On testing the launch angle on a standard 7 iron and the Marvik are the same. This is down to the weight distribution on the club head causing the ball to go higher than normal. This means the loft is needed to be reduced and as a result spins rates are dropped increasing the distance the ball with travel, combine this with the hot face resulting in the ball being hit long.

st there is 4 types you left out Max "W" and not having the Pro for this test Makes the testing cringeworthy you can do better man!!
