George Lucas also didn't want to originally direct the prequels. He just wanted to write but couldnt find anyone to do it. George knows his limits as a Director which was one of the reason's he got Spielberg to do Indiana Jones. He reached out to Spielberg and Ron Howard to direct the pre-quels during the time but their schedules were tied. And remember Empire Strikes Back was directed by Irvin Kershner and Return of the Jedi was Directed by Richard Marquand

George & Rick were a dream team. Lucasfilm badly needs them back onboard for the new films. Rick in particular was great, he had his finger in every pie regardless of whether or not he had to. Lovely guy with a lot of passion for the franchise & medium as a whole.

Pod-racing was the worst part of the movie. You knew he was going to win and not be injured (Mary Sue). If there was a chance he'd be injured, or come in second then maybe there would have been drama. Like 1st place meant him and his mother were freed (stupid having them slaves in the first place - makes you dislike them). But if he came in second he'd have to leave his mother behind (which is what he did coming in first place, anyway). Why didn't they go back after Naboo to free her? Intolerable.

The Phantom Menace is the second best Star Wars movie in my opinion. I understand if people didn't like the movie back in 1999, but it did not deserve to be trashed at all. It was one of the most technologically advanced movies of its time and took so much work. Not only that, but in my opinion, the story was so nicely timed and placed.

Revenge of The Sith is way higher. Attack of The Clones is the worse. Phantom Menace whenever I last saw it wasn’t as bad as I remembered but I wouldn’t rank it that high as a prequel movie.

I LOVE EPISODE 1, 2 AND 3!!! I love Star Wars I, II, III, IV, V, VI, 50% from VII and ROGUE ONE but I love the super cool Prequels the most! But SOLO: A FAKE WARS STORY, JOKE WARS VIII and FOOL WARS IX I want to forget forever the last three Star Wars films are a trauma for me in terms of look and story !!! I really miss George Lucas at work ...

I loved the prequels as a kid. They I became an edgy, internet-knowledgeable teen and decided they were trash. After a decade of not watching them, I've found that I actually like them better than I did when I was a kid. They aren't perfect but they're damn fun movies if you allow yourself to enjoy them.

The crew worked so incredibly hard on this movie all to do it two more times. They must have been exhausted by the end of the trilogy.

"...therein lies my job, my sole function, is to make everything S O D E N S E"
Gotta give it to Rick McCallum though, this is some crazy messed-up shit to go through when making a film, in some ways even moreso than Episode IV and given the circumstances he and the production crew did a Hell of a good job.

Did they REALLY have to go to Tanzania? Couldn't they have just gone to some remote desert like location in California? I mean, I know it's rough, coarse. and gets everywhere, but it's just sand.

Tunisia, but yes. There's a certain look there that they wanted to recapture from the original Star Wars, such as the gray skies.
