TYFLOL Hell fucking no. The studio version is flat. That production worked great for songs like Weightless and Animate but not for this version of Rot slaps you in the face. It's the heaviness from Northlane we all love.
this is one of my biggest problems with new northlane. its boring as fuck. and i think its only partly because of the actual writing. It's very obvious what they did to the album production wise when you compare this song to the studio version. the studio version goes absolutely nowhere, musically. And it leaves you with the biggest musical blue balls imaginable. I really hope they dont fuck up their next album. I want to enjoy them, but i just cant.
9 years now and this is one of Northlane's most powerful tracks In my opinion. One of my personal favorites that stands out to me in a significant way. Such a masterpiece!
Marcus is really different from Adrian but Northlane were not looking for an Adrian copy, and I have to say that I had my fears of how the new vocalist would sound. Adrian is one of the best metal frontman I've ever heard but damn Marcus slays it. Amazing singing and amazing screams. I'll miss Adrian's dancing moves during the breakdowns tho.
I used to work at General Motors when this came out at 20 years old. I loved this song and was divided about Marcus. Saw Rot live in Toronto and I fuckin lost it. So glad Marcus has gotten so amazing.
For me Marcus is ten times better. I mean, no disrespect to Adrian - he's a top dude - but vocally he just never hit the spot for me on the cleans... too nasal for my liking is all. NL's tunes seemed to always just be screaming for someone who can sing like a motherfucker, and M's voice just compliments their sound so well. Just an opinion of course, but I'm on my third listen and just loving this!
You're not alone man! It seems that 90% of people who've heard it hate it and/or want Adrian back, but I for one am loving the new direction! And I totally agree with linotheundead, I too always thought that the instrumental side of NL begged for a kickass clean singer. And now they've got one! His screams are sick too, and I personally think his variety will open up alot of previously unopenable doors for them as a band.
fucking loving it man, didn't think his screams were gunna be able to do justice for northlanes music but god damn, this guy's good. Missing adrian, but welcoming Marcus.... can't wait for the new album
Sam Harper Honestly based on the like bar the people who don't like it is actually far less than 90%, in fact, based on those numbers, it's less than 5%. It's just that the people that don't like it spend the time complaining about it, while the ones who like it just go about their business. It happens all the time, the people who don't like something are way louder than the ones who do, so it always looks like something is hated way more than it is.
Progressive instrumentation/songwriting, ambient tones... great vocals, the opening drop is still one of the sickest things I've ever heard... 'that good enough? ha
Can we all just appreciate the role Marcus Bridge has taken on? Its such a huge effort to fill the shoes of someone as influential, well written and gifted as Adrian. Just joining this band Marcus would obviously be in a "feeling through it" sort of stage getting the fit of it and obviously getting to the point where he can feel comfortable inputting to songwriting and music etc...but I personally think he nailed it vocally with this song. I had to listen to it a few times before I settled with the fact that its not Adrian anymore but i'd encourage anyone who has only listened to it once to give it another shot and wait excitedly for this new beginning and for the next level Northlane is going to take it to for this new album!
This is the song that started it all for me… instant goosebumps coming back after a few years with the new album coming soon. They’re just as good as ever
Was not expecting much from the new guy. The previous singer made the band for me, he had charisma, good style, and above all, incredible lyrics and perspective. While the lyrics may not be as good, this track is incredible. I don't know if he can pull it off live, but the new guy's vocal technique is far better, and it's very powerful here. Looking forward to the album now, which I wasn't before. We shall see, the last album will be incredibly tough to top.
***** I saw him live two days ago. His live performance is 100% on key. Such a great fit for them. He is also an extremely nice guy. I got to meet him after the show
Lost in a valley of smoke, I lose sight of those I love. I cant live in this dream, wondering the world a lost soul. A shell of a man, frozen in a toxic trance. Unfamiliar reflection stare at me, these eye are not my own. Running from my demons in this endless valley. Show me the way, because I no longer know right from wrong. I know what has to be done, the smoke will settle the demons will come and I will be torn apart. Exposing my weakness the world will see, what I never fucking wanted. As I stare at your face, soaked in disgrace, what is the price a judgment of life, I cry out in this dispossession. Exposing my weakness the world will see what I never, what I never, what I never fucking wanted. They crowd around me, here to take their share of my mind. I can no longer muster the strength to face them alone, all on my own. They whisper echoes in unknown tongues, I refuse to absorb their toxic words. I've forgotten how to love, searching behind locked doors in my mind. Cast aside the fear of reality, face the fucking world.
Ilija Stajic Nothing. Really nothing special about Marcus. It's a solid job but nothing special. The cleans are the same style like every post-hardcore band ever and the screams do not stand out a bit from others. Aiden Cooper would've been a better choice although I wasn't sure about him too. And the line "don't let the world rot" just sounds like "just write some lyrics about nature and how we have to save it" and repeated over and over again in this song.
He can sing, he can scream, but lyrically the song is lacking and the placement of the vocals compared to Adrian's is way off. he isn't bad. but its put me off of northlane as the sound is now quite tame compared to what it used to be.
***** yes, just one song. I'm waiting for thr album but my hopes aren't high. The fact that they've released this song in this state with the best musicvideo they've ever had before with a singer they don't even know that good who writes superfercial lyrics so far makes me really sceptical that the whole album will be any different. But I hope I can enjoy it...
I like Adrian but the dude was hit and miss, I mean..."money and corruption ruin the land. Crooked politicians betray the working man, pocketing the profits, treating us like sheep"
It's still the same band, they still sound similar, it's not enough change for people to dislike them ahahah Marcus does cleans way better, I hope he shows more ability to have crazy lows like Adrian. So far I think this is my favourite NL track
Nah his cleans are far to similar to the "pop" genre within metal he sounds like he could be in Sleeping With Sirens or PTv (two of the worst bands in existence)
I'm not a fan of SWS or PTV but they're not bad at all, they simply dont appeal to you. And while Kellin Quinn and Vic whatever his name is, both have very "girly" voices, they are good at singing. This guy sounds nothing like them anyway, that's a dumb thing to say, Marcus has a lot to show and his unclean vocals are great too, greater than PTV or SWS
kabluwi well said. Marcus sounds nothing like their high pitched girly vocals. He has so much depth n range, its sad to hear him being put in the same category as those others.
i feel like a lot of people are now rediscovering this old material and recognize its greatness! i think alien is their best release to date but i think some of their material off node and mesmer is also really good!
I remember my cousin introducing me to this song years ago. I'm kinda going through a nostalgic phase, but I've rediscovered why I love metal in all it's forms
Saw these guys earlier this month. There performance was awesome and they played lot of old favorites. The new singers vocals were nearly flawless. One of the beautys in northlanes music has always been to take you from that chill relaxed groove to a punching and powerful drop. They do it better than any band I've heard. Give the new guy a chance. :) he might surprise you if you go see them live. The spirit of old northlane has most certainly not died out. I'm very excited to hear more from the new singer and northlane in general.
I got into northlane just after Adrian blew out his vocals.....I had no idea what I was missing out on. But I'm glad they found someone to match his talent!!! Keep it up guys!! Just purchased all three albums today too!!!
Remember that episode of the Simpson's where Mr Burns tells some baseball dude to shave his sideburns? That's basically Marcus's haircut haha. The cleans and lows are sick but he can't hit the highs like Adrian. He'll get there with practice. Keen for what their future holds.
Guarantee that if this video was the very first song Northlane ever released and Adrian was never a member, You'd all eat this shit up like cake, With or without you this new Northlane line up is going to pretty big places
**WARNING comment NOT picking vocalist sides** Whoa! This song is incredible and couldn't come at a better time. There is a lot of shit going on all over the world and listening to a fresh inspiring track from Northlane helps keep me on track. The lyrics are well written, i believe one of the guitarists wrote them so its good to know the message is strong no matter who it's coming from. Also being a Sydney sider this song hits home, i walk though Sydney city multiple times every week and I always see how disconnected everyone is. People ignore the homeless and the ones who have the courage to raise their voice on issues important to them. We are all connected and it's our responsibility to look after the earth and all of it's creatures including its people. Our time is now.
I think there's a lot of potential for Northlane to do something interesting now.. Just please turn the volume on the heavy guitar up a bit more.. Some really crunchy bits there that could have been way more in your face I reckon. Other than that I think the song was pretty damn good
LIJ4Productions The singing sounds good yeah, but a bit hard to understand in some parts. I don't really care about that though cause if I need to understand it I can just read the lyrics haha ;3 All I care about in regards to this song is where they're gonna go from here, and I think they have the potential to release some really good shit
best song they ever did. very sophisticated rhythmically , melodically , harmonically , lyrically with a great message, unique sounding fantastic amount of attention and effort was made..
Northlane is one of my favorite bands. I LOVED everything they did previously. As a fan, I'm not going to say I'm butthurt over Adrian departing, but I'm not going to say I love this song when I don't. Where's the power they had in their old songs? I'm not saying it's generic, and Marcus isn't a bad vocalist. But where's the emotional Northlane? They had the most uplifting songs, they had power to them, the instruments had soul to them and the lyrics had passion, especially with how they were sang. I don't even find this heavy. It's not bad. But they took away what made them stand out. This is song is NOT the band I fell in love since Discoveries. I won't give up on them, but I am disappointed.. So there's my two cents.
You do sound pretty butthurt to me. The only good thing about Adrian was the message behind his lyrics and his low vocals, which i find really deadly great, but couldn't stand his fry screaming at all though.
krilaz Adrain's vocals weren't fry, they were yells. Straight throat screaming, resulting in his departure because his voice couldn't keep up with it. And no, I'm not butt hurt. I'm disappointed in one of my favorite bands songs. It's not the vocalist that's the problem, even though I would've rather preferred Aeden Cooper on vocals. Marcus is by no means a bad vocalist, but I don't think he fits their sound as well as others. My problem is the music as a whole, it seems like one big step backwards from where they were. If that's considered butt hurt to you, then I'm a butt hurt little child.
Crazy to think where these guys started compared to where they are. Even just the progression they made from this single release to the Node release and Equinox. Such an inspiring group of musicians, such talented writers all the way from day one, and constantly improving. Love ya Northlane!
Curious who produced this song. Discoveries was thick and big from the level and tone of the bass and Nic's kit sounded huge back then as well. The whole mix sounds very thin compared to the last albums, i would love to hear the whole tom section starting at 1:59 through the old Discoveries mix, that would of sounded amazing. Didn't think i would but i'm missing the bass drops and consistant alternating guitar panning as well, It's a good song but nearly every song from singularity and discoveries had the little things where you would go back and listen to a song and your like damn, i missed that little voice effect the last time i heard this song or you'd find another layer of Adrian's high screams behind his low screams.... the subtle things man. I don't doubt that i'll find a gem in the future songs but this hasn't had the same impact on me as the first time i heard some of the other songs. I'll hold off judgement until an album drops but i'm not gonna lie - it's not love at first sight.
Everyone moans about music being mainstream, if a band sounds like their genre that's not mainstream, if there are 1 or 2 bands that sound similar that's not mainstream. Its simple ether you like it or you don't. There is no need to be so nitpicky about who a band sound like or how "unoriginal" they are. Even if it was mainstream the doesn't you can like it or that its a bad song... Gawlll!
Selfless Resurrection to say GnR aren't influential is just untrue. Personally, I dislike their music. But they were outstandingly popular, and quite good at what they did. Safe to say a lot of this kind of music wouldn't be the same without them.
Popular, yes. Good, no. Popular bands will always influence but usually the people who respect them do not write anything worthwhile either. If anything it probably influence hard rock more than metal music. Pink Floyd has influenced both metal and rock music.
At the time, Guns n Roses was considered "Metal." And they still are, just not the same as what you may listen to. They've arguably been as big an influence to metal as a whole as Black Sabbath. You don't have to like 'em, goodness knows I don't. But it's unfair to downplay the impact they've had.
Dude I was just thinking that! Sounds too much like Periphery IMHO. I dunno I liked Adrian's pacing with lyrics better. He gave the riffs in their songs time to breath.
He puts out a very original sound. His screams. His cleans. Yes its almost like a new band with a different front man. But he makes the songs his own. Great job Marcus! And Northlane! I'll see you on Feb 16th at showbox Seattle. Can't wait
I personally like the song and Adrian wasn't the whole band so some of yall need to chill and get used to the fact that this new guy ( sorry idk his name) might be staying for awhile. I actually really liked his cleans and screams.
Maybe it's because I'm not a major metalcore fan (I like a handful of bands in the genre), and maybe it's because I don't really listen to this band, but hearing both the old and new vocalists, I much prefer this guy's voice. His clean voice seems to have such a better range than the original one. EDIT: 2021 and I still feel this way. I enjoy all of Northlane's discography and have come to majorly appreciate Adrian's contributions to the band but my favorite Northlane album is definitely Mesmer. Great balance of the new stuff with their older heaviness. Oh, and I consider myself a major metalcore fan now lol
Especially 2:13 - 2:31. Wow, for this genre, that's pretty high and powerful. His voice, combined with the atmospheric music there really stirs something inside lol
He does have a much better range than Adrian. People are just not over him yet but I think Marcus has more to give to the band than the first vocalist... Then again, it's normal that people have their preferences. I can't wait to hear their new album!
Same here, I never thought I'd say I actually think I might want to buy a Northlane album because I never really cared for Adrian's vocal style, but with Marcus, I may just have to look into it haha
jacobjedi2 There is more range, yes. I still think that Adrian's vocals suited the style of the band more. Though I only have one song with Marcus (being this) so he's still got a bit to do. Disposition is one of the greatest heavy songs ever written, in my opinion. A lot of what made the song so good was in Adrian's delivery. Don't get me wrong though. This guy fits the bill better than anybody else could have when Adrian left but I felt they had a more original sound with their previous vocalist.
I tried listening to a few Adrian-era albums and I just can't get into it. People say Marcus sounds too mainstream but Adrian sound even more mainstream to my ears. Guess that's just me and the fact that I almost always have a differing opinion than the masses lol
Brendon stacey lol why call another good fan of the band a hipster? i was simply standing my open opinion, I love the opening of the song i hope they have more hype as fuckk parts like that
Was never THAT into northlane bit after this, I'm hooked and this is my most anticipated album right now. I listen to this song everyday... It's addictive
The Devil Wears Prada, Volumes, August Burns Red, Amity Affliction, and now Northlane; Welcome to this group of actually good metalcore bands that have their own beautiful unique sounds. Edit: And Architects. thanks.
I just started listening to this band, first thing i saw was comments about the singers so i had to research it. I like Adrian a little bit better, but fans should feel really lucky to have a replacement like Marcus. He is very good in his own right.
How is these vocals even possible? From the low to the highs to cleans to the brawls.. I don't care about this being live or not, this is just amazing, and Bridge has got these notes down or else there would be no sound onn the track. I am listening to Northlane from first album to their latest album and I love both vocalist, and I cherish their scremo's in a way I only do else were with Blindside and Bring me the Horizon. Just wow.
Actually jon and nic write all the music so without them its not northlane. Marcus had some pretty fucking big shoes to fill but although hes probably not as good as adrian hes as good as they couldve got
Its funny that all these people saying "he's no Adrian" or anything along the lines of him not being as good as Adrian, must not know the reason that Adrian left the band is because his vocals were pretty much fried and it was doing more harm to his body then good. He started to lack in live performances, but yes he was great and still has written some of the best lyrics in the metal scene, but Marcus will be a great vocalist guys dont worry. Northlane will live on.

Luffy Joke Central makes sense indeed, although if they changed the production here a lil bit i would like it a lot more
this is one of my biggest problems with new northlane. its boring as fuck. and i think its only partly because of the actual writing.
7 years and it still stand that's the music video mix is far better than the album mix.
Man it’s 2024 and this song still goes HARD af!! This song is what introduced me to Northlane 💯💯
One of my first but i was late to the party, life and all. Bless them for this badass shit. Echo chamber and Cypher drew me in.
I used to work at General Motors when this came out at 20 years old. I loved this song and was divided about Marcus. Saw Rot live in Toronto and I fuckin lost it. So glad Marcus has gotten so amazing.
We were probably at the same show, Phoenix Concert Theatre w ABR & Miss May I?
Am I the only one that actually really likes this new sound??
His screams are sick too, and I personally think his variety will open up alot of previously unopenable doors for them as a band.
nope, this is really good. i find it kinda groovy haha and marcus is great
fucking loving it man, didn't think his screams were gunna be able to do justice for northlanes music but god damn, this guy's good.
Favorite thing about this is that their Northlane instrumental sound has not changed a single bit.
the only good thing about it.
DFVChrome Nope.
***** Well i guess that depends if you compare this to Singularity or Discoveries! hahah :D
***** If you compare it to Singularity, then yeah
***** Now that you point that out, that's pretty cool. I hate when a band changes it's sound too much.
Now to wait for all the arguments about how the old vocalist was "better".
This dude kills it.
yeh nah yeh nah yeh nah yeh nah.
I'm actually surprised, the comments are the complete opposite lol. That'll change tomorrow. Well today since its 3am.
9 years old and still in my playlist
love northlane. love both singers, I was kinda sceptical about the Marcus but damn I kept listening to their album and i just get lost in music.
This is such a beautifully crafted song. Everything about it, down to the timing and tempo. This is in my top 5 songs of all time.
Can somebody explain why this song is so ridiculously good
It's because you like Nu Metal
Progressive instrumentation/songwriting, ambient tones... great vocals, the opening drop is still one of the sickest things I've ever heard... 'that good enough? ha
Because it's Northlane...
Mate nah
You obviously haven't heard northlanes discoveries album
I remember when this came out and a bunch of assholes were hating on the new vocalist, this has always been a masterpiece.
Factual
Adrian still my favorite singer but this song is great still
Checked this out because Morgan from Sevendust said in an interview that this band had mad skills. He was not wrong :)
Sean Henry what the fuck would that guy know? Glad you found a great band though 😕
***** Seen him live, much better than the old guy tbh
Weeaboo Destroyer Good to hear
***** I can confirm that as well, can't wait to see them again on their upcoming european tour.
***** I saw him live two days ago. His live performance is 100% on key. Such a great fit for them. He is also an extremely nice guy. I got to meet him after the show
***** The album's awesome, but lyrically not as good as the previous one.
Holy fuck the singer is so sweet in person I swear.
This song is way better than any of their previous releases. Good for Northlane!
***** its because he didnt sing
MrJoe1928 really? he didn't sing? have you listened to the singularity album?
***** Adrian couldn't sing, dude. The man was tone deaf, but that son of a bitch could scream.
ZayneThyler That's because he wasn't using safe technique. Sounds so brutal, fucks the vocal folds.
ZayneThyler no no Mr joe said he "didn't" sing nothing about the quality of pitch and tone
Lost in a valley of smoke, I lose sight of those I love. I cant live in this
dream, wondering the world a lost soul. A shell of a man, frozen in a toxic
trance. Unfamiliar reflection stare at me, these eye are not my own. Running
from my demons in this endless valley. Show me the way, because I no longer
know right from wrong. I know what has to be done, the smoke will settle the
demons will come and I will be torn apart. Exposing my weakness the world will
see, what I never fucking wanted. As I stare at your face, soaked in disgrace,
what is the price a judgment of life, I cry out in this dispossession. Exposing
my weakness the world will see what I never, what I never, what I never fucking
wanted. They crowd around me, here to take their share of my mind. I can no
longer muster the strength to face them alone, all on my own. They whisper
echoes in unknown tongues, I refuse to absorb their toxic words. I've forgotten
how to love, searching behind locked doors in my mind. Cast aside the fear of
reality, face the fucking world.
Stop living in the past m8.
This guy sounds nothing like them anyway, that's a dumb thing to say, Marcus has a lot to show and his unclean vocals are great too, greater than PTV or SWS
kabluwi
well said. Marcus sounds nothing like their high pitched girly vocals. He has so much depth n range, its sad to hear him being put in the same category as those others.
James Rabbetts His previous band was Sound of Seasons. In that vein but 150% better.
2024 - Came back to listen to this after their recent offering. I miss their old sound. Best era. Northlane hasnt been the same since.
NORTHLANExPERIPHERY would be amazing on tour.
Karol Osuchowski Northlane x Monuments x Tesseract would be bae
Karol Osuchowski Instead, periphery is coming to Chicago with All That Remains, in support of In Flames -_-
Needs to happen in Australia...
Karol Osuchowski Northlane, Periphery, Veil of Maya, Monuments, Volumes, Animals As Leaders, Tesseract, Glasscloud. I would shit a chicken.
Ryan Roberts i would freak the fk out
incredible vocalist, great music. Northlane since 2014 is just amazing.
i feel like a lot of people are now rediscovering this old material and recognize its greatness! i think alien is their best release to date but i think some of their material off node and mesmer is also really good!
Hey look. A band that doesn't sound like a generic "Verb the Noun" core band. I likes
+RINGO BĒY or an "Adjective-Noun-Verb" band.
+RINGO BĒY "Verb the Noun"
Make this an actual band name :')
+RINGO BĒY Hahahaha or a plurals band
+RINGO BĒY Scale The Summit is a verb the noun delight
Scale the summit is probably the best Verb The Noun out there in all honesty. Let's make this a thing. List your favourite VTN band
A message to anyone who is complaining about the new singer:
CAST ASIDE THE FEAR OF REALITY, FACE THE FUCKING WORLD
I remember my cousin introducing me to this song years ago.
3:07 OOOOOOHHHH!!! That one hits hard!!
Much harder than the album version fr
@@luisybarraaspichueta3405 Yes, absolutely. I like more this version, the feedbacks are louder.
@@saidoterodiseno yeah like much more disonant and screechy, don't know why they changed that :/
9 nine years old and still one of my fav song👏
What a band. Just yesterday I heard these guys for the first time. This is huge.
"This is our life we command it GO" That part is sick as fuck.
7 years still one of the best northlane songs
9 years later still one of their best
throw back to my scene 14yo self in 8th grade nothing but bangers. 🖤💨
Am I the only one who thinks this is an AMAZING video? sweet lord
New favorite song. It's got a dynamic no other band has figured out yet.
The fact that the intro bass tone is so gritty is incredible. The tones these guys have are unbeatable.
Man this was right after Adrian fidipaldes left. I still prefer them with him as a lead singer but God damn was this when they started blowing up
i see the drummer capitalized on all that free space. and quite well i might add. perfectamundo. magnafique drummer man.
Guarantee that if this video was the very first song Northlane ever released and Adrian was never a member, You'd all eat this shit up like cake, With or without you this new Northlane line up is going to pretty big places
thank you all so much for picking marcus!! super stoked for more new stuff!
Amazing singer, fabulous choice.
Video and song aged beautifully
**WARNING comment NOT picking vocalist sides**
Whoa!
Other than that I think the song was pretty damn good
infinite potential! :D
foxy tricking Hahahaha I didn't even think of that.. Poor form.
I felt like the lows were ok, not good, but ok, and the singing felt like it wasnt clear in some parts. Other than that its great
LIJ4Productions The singing sounds good yeah, but a bit hard to understand in some parts. I don't really care about that though cause if I need to understand it I can just read the lyrics haha ;3
All I care about in regards to this song is where they're gonna go from here, and I think they have the potential to release some really good shit
Yes! As I was listening to the song I'm just like why are the guitars so low
best song they ever did. very sophisticated rhythmically , melodically , harmonically , lyrically with a great message, unique sounding fantastic amount of attention and effort was made..
Perfect description of how I feel
Give a Nobel to this man please
Kobe Queen I quote myself, "I won't give up on them"
You do sound pretty butthurt to me.
I actually love where they're going with the new vocalist!
Crazy to think where these guys started compared to where they are. Even just the progression they made from this single release to the Node release and Equinox. Such an inspiring group of musicians, such talented writers all the way from day one, and constantly improving. Love ya Northlane!
Regardless of how good Adrian was, This song is dope!
Yep!
Didn't think i would but i'm missing the bass drops and consistant alternating guitar panning as well,
It's a good song but nearly every song from singularity and discoveries had the little things where you would go back and listen to a song and your like damn, i missed that little voice effect the last time i heard this song or you'd find another layer of Adrian's high screams behind his low screams.... the subtle things man. I don't doubt that i'll find a gem in the future songs but this hasn't had the same impact on me as the first time i heard some of the other songs. I'll hold off judgement until an album drops but i'm not gonna lie - it's not love at first sight.
Agreed
This
3:08... Straight gut punch! Love it!! I can't understand why so many of you are complaining. Try being more positive and just enjoy the music.
Gawlll!
Perfectly put.
***** Guns N Roses is a terrible band Pink Floyd on the other is influential.
2020 still fire
I love at 1:01 when the lead guitar does that little lick over the heavy riff. Awesome depth there.
Don't let the hnnng rot
Still not letting the hnnng rot
Cleans remind me of Periphery so much! His cleans are better than Adrians, but I miss Adrians screams and think they are better than this.
It's cause he looks like Spencer :D
1:30 I really hear it as well...not a bad thing.
Agreed
Dude I was just thinking that! Sounds too much like Periphery IMHO.
I dunno I liked Adrian's pacing with lyrics better. He gave the riffs in their songs time to breath.
Doesn't really sound like periphery at all.. Periphery are like technical/progressive and northlane are more hardcore/progressive
Lets be honest, this guys voice is much more versatile, gritty and clear where it needs to be.
Even as a fan of prior Northlane, this is brilliant & I don't care what anyone says.
So good!
He puts out a very original sound. His screams. His cleans. Yes its almost like a new band with a different front man. But he makes the songs his own. Great job Marcus! And Northlane! I'll see you on Feb 16th at showbox Seattle. Can't wait
Just discovered this band and I like :))
My band's opening for these guys and Volumes on The Greater Than Tour november 24th :D
the back and forth from soft to heavy is magnificent
I personally like the song and Adrian wasn't the whole band so some of yall need to chill and get used to the fact that this new guy ( sorry idk his name) might be staying for awhile. I actually really liked his cleans and screams.
Marcus Bridge :)
Lol I didn't know his name till after I posted this comment
He's really talented. you could tell right from his audition videos that he had something.
I absolutely love it. Better cleans than Adrian's so I'll be interested to hear the heavier tracks (his lows were insane tbf). Overall, very pleased.
The 'lane were incredible at the Limelight2 in Belfast, May 2018. Have so much love for these guys that they could never know.
I was one of those who whined about leaving Adrian but after this song I can clearly say it's high time I shut up
Adrian was a great lyricist with a lot of allegory implemented for us to interpret individually.
Marcus is the coolest man in the universe :^)
Nikita Ember Marcus and I went to the same highschool fam, we were in grease the musical together once :^)
has northlane gone to far
LarzZz666 has science gone too far
PoopSteve420 i just said "awwwwww" ahah (not that you care xD)
I toked with him a few weeks back at their show in Boston. Good dudes.
I think his screams will change overtime, he should do more lows!!
Their EP was so heavy they should head back into that direction!
AreTrees yeah nah not happening aye
Ah what are you even talking about? Their Ep was generic metalcore they've evolved way past that you just want to be a northlane hipster
Brendon stacey lol why call another good fan of the band a hipster? i was simply standing my open opinion, I love the opening of the song i hope they have more hype as fuckk parts like that
His low a 0:53 was pretty solid and its un-layered. I have faith that with practice he'll be able to hit that all day
Was never THAT into northlane bit after this, I'm hooked and this is my most anticipated album right now. I listen to this song everyday... It's addictive
The Devil Wears Prada, Volumes, August Burns Red, Amity Affliction, and now Northlane; Welcome to this group of actually good metalcore bands that have their own beautiful unique sounds.
Edit: And Architects. thanks.
Hey you forgot Architects
Isaac Plowman I went to listen to architects when you said. Thank you kind sir.
You're welcome :)
Johari and JinJer(even though JinJer is not metal core) you guys need to listen these two bands.
What about ERRA?
I just started listening to this band, first thing i saw was comments about the singers so i had to research it. I like Adrian a little bit better, but fans should feel really lucky to have a replacement like Marcus. He is very good in his own right.
ChazMcDevitt agreed. The band is still great, but they were at their peak when Adrian was still the vocalist in my opinion.
Just wow.
Check out Invent Animate and Aviana bruh
There is no northlane without fitipaldes. RIP northlane
Get over it fanboy. Marcus rules.
Actually jon and nic write all the music so without them its not northlane. Marcus had some pretty fucking big shoes to fill but although hes probably not as good as adrian hes as good as they couldve got
+CoastCore TV this dude complete kills adrian. This guy's got it!
Jordan Sartor
Personally i prefer adrians screams, especially his lows but i have no issue whatsoever with this lad, hes incredible
the guys who said marcus rules or he is better then adrian
you obviously never listened to adrian
I love how 420 was just thrown in there at 3:36
Its funny that all these people saying "he's no Adrian" or anything along the lines of him not being as good as Adrian, must not know the reason that Adrian left the band is because his vocals were pretty much fried and it was doing more harm to his body then good. He started to lack in live performances, but yes he was great and still has written some of the best lyrics in the metal scene, but Marcus will be a great vocalist guys dont worry. Northlane will live on.
Im not into this kinda music that much, but this video, 10/10 no question about it.
