It's super fun to play, the games are fun to watch, but it's a bit hard to get TOO excited about a game where past a certain level of skill the player is kinda hindered by the inherent winrate of most competitive decks being in the 40-60% and how the flop of locations can instantly favor or fuck you right out of the game.
You nailed it with the amount of RNG. I've been playing since last November and the game was really fun for the first few months as you're building your collection but then once you start becoming near collection complete, or at least have nearly all the cards worth getting, and all that is left is just to grind out matches for the sake of the dopamine hit from winning, then you realize how frustrating and time wasting this game could be. Typically any more I only play for about a half hour a day and that's all I can take because I am so sick and tired of getting into unwinnable situations having to retreat and start over and hope that the coin flips land in my favor for this match, and the opponent actually sticks around if I snap. There hasn't been a time in many months where I have quit a session of snap and felt like it was a good use of my time. I always think I could have put that half hour to better use, but my brain is constantly trying to find something in the gameplay which is not there nor ever will be - consistency to bro my skill. As you touched on, the skill really is knowing whether you should snap on turn three and whether RNG was on your side this match...We are all fighting an uphill battle against the currents of rng
I'm with you on all of this. Last month was one of my worst. I exhausted all my keys trying to get new cards.. and I got none. Really wanted Cull, but still recovering from the prior month. All the new cards are S5 and unaffordable. It really feels like if you don't have the hot new cards, good fucking luck.. and especially good luck trying to afford them if you don't play all day and/or dump your paycheck into the game. I keep hoping they'll actually improve things, but it's steadily getting worse.
Agree 1000% with EVERYTHING you said. Let's not forget the stupid constant mirror matches and horrible matchmaking as well. I'll go 10 games w/out seeing Enchantress or Cosmo... soon as I switch to an ongoing deck I face 3 Enchantress's and Rogues back to back. Or I won't see Loki for 10 games and then I switch to a Loki deck and BOOM... every damn deck I face is Loki. Nobody wants to face the same damn mirror decks. Or maybe it's just me and they do... I dunno, haha.
It should be kept in mind that opponent may have Enchanteress or Rogue in their hand but not play it when you don't play ongoing, that's why you see them more when you play ongoing
When a rant is backed up with such facts, it's an absolute delight. You saved me some work fella as I was working on the very same topics/video haha! They have clearly digged further into the gacha elements at every structure level (floaded the reward pools with trash to convert to a high cost aquisition and entries for any begginers to jump in, Season Pass & OTA manipulation towards new cards you need to bank on, gamble card abilities, etc). The entry level is now clearly set at whales bracket, which is going to keep damaging adoption - so its future. OGs are blind/don't care much because they accumulated a collection large enough to keep playing/competing/getting their regular rewards to unlock caches - the issue is: a game without any new adopters is a dying one. Anyways, nice to find ya and keep da good work Romek!
As a new player it was the most depressing thing finally getting to CL 1k+ and getting collectors reserves. A card every 4th reserve feels so shit, and i have NO problem spending money on the game but they’ve really made me not want to just outta principle.
Great rant bro. Couldn't agree more. Other "influencers" that are "in bed with Second Dinner" so to speak are always "suspiciously positive" about the game. But you are just saying it like it is. Real shit. Thanks!
RNG is getting out of control. I don't understand why the design team decided to push this game in this direction. Random discard, random cost reduction, trade your cards out with random cards, randomly play with opponents cards, randomly not even play the game with ego....it's getting ridiculous 🙄
You're spot on the progression system. They keep releasing new cards for 6k tokens every week, last 3k card was Mobius iirc. Caches are nerfed to death. And spotlight keys are basically more hoarding and tedious grind. The game loses its sense of progression once you complete series 3. Can't imagine how is it like for a new player in current snap economy.
I said this a month ago man.. How Thanos was and still is a tier 0 deck. You look at the recent tournament; it was near all Thanos decks. You go and look at the Johnson Cup, and damn near every single deck was a variation of Thanos. It just seems like no matter what we'll continue to keep seeing this. I completely agree with everything you said in this game.
hey, my opinion is like, i am a yugioh player that plays snap to relax because in yugioh i have to use all my braincells to do a simple combo, so its very demanding and tires you mentally real quick, i play snap cause its a simple game, a casual one, its chill, i am a comic book reader since i was a kid so it was a match made in heaven, i do believe the game can be competitive, it shows by the fact that it has its strategies, but people should never compare it to other card games, because the reality is, marvel snap is a baby card game mechanicaly wise.
I feel like it’s competitive mechanically in a sense the same way as Poker is competitive - relies on random chance but you can play around it and play an opponent with snaps. But also it is really meta-heavy game and it feels like it can’t ever change. In that sense it’s sometimes boring
I think Poker has less RNG then Snap, like this game feels legitimately like a coin flip sometimes. Randomly this, randomly that, random random random.
I feel like the one thing this game needs (and with how old it is, it honestly shouldve had it already) is a Guild system, i mean they ARE working on it im glad but we should already have this system and IF it is as content filled as we expect, i would probably feel alot more different about this game, but yeah, its really boring rn
I know deck-based matchmaking is a boogie man conspiracy theory, but I actually think they should have it, and when certain meta decks reach a threshold, those decks should only play each other. Destroy has to play Destroy, Thanos only plays other Thanos, Hela has to play Hela, and so on. Some kind of incentive needs to be created to get people to play something besides the same 3 or 4 decks over and over and over again. Seeing Blade into Infinaut, or the so-fun Mind Stone/Snap combo AGAIN really does suck all the fun out of the game. I get that people want to play the strongest decks, but maybe they'd be less excited about playing them if the only played each other. It has gotten to the point where I don't even watch the streamers if they're playing these mind-numbing decks. I always appreciate guys like you and Bynx for doing the best you can to keep things fresh with original deck ideas.
We need more games mode, for example a mode for play without Locations effects and play without random handicap, also the possibility of choosing a deck in conquest, so many times matchmaking pairs with a mirror match or a counter deck... And you can't enjoy and wait for a loss because skill is not needed.. just wait for a good random event and try to snap/retreat at time. Completely random and malicious.
I don't think Marvel Snap needs to be an Esports game lol. If it's an Esports game then it's not going to be the game we all love it's that simple. MS is truly special for what it brings to the table compared to all other card games. In terms of expensive bundles and series 4 cards I agree but man people saying stupid things like OP meta decks DRIVES ME CRAZY because it's a problem in EVERY single card game out there. I played Hearthstone, Gwent, Legends of Runeterra, Magik and there is always 2-3 decks dominating the game while there are like 80% more cool cards that being useless and not played. In fact I think MS have the best balance and card play ratio compared to the other games.
Too many bots, they cheat hard or play dumb as fuck. Prices is extremely high and new card is hard to get. I play less and less, I even stop getting LVL 100 because there is no sense.
Remember when Hella was bad because every discard was RNG? Also it just sucks ass that you have to play the same deck for 2 months until you randomly get a new card that might end up being useless because you do not have another new card that you need to support it.
Is the game competitive yes, can it be an esport? No I don’t believe that it can. The constant changes to cards or general ignoring of problems/nerfing of cards that did nothing wrong keeps it from being a contender in the esports world. In any event though I don’t focus on the bundles I spend nothing on the game so my enjoyment is great. The meta currently is not exactly easy to navigate pre infinite it’s like a yugioh format where the best deck is undefined and I love that most pros don’t but I do. Overall the game as far as gameplay is great the acquisition sucks 100 tokens every like 10 caches sucks and the series drops need to come back asap. The card library has grown more than enough imo.
They need some type of forum and CCP program and use the player base to make the game better because just the devs and the company making all the calls will just lead to money moves and that will cause the game to die.
yeah, the game is just too much random, also the fact that the last good/big bundle that u culd buy with gold was in december it really sucks, im just buying tokens every tuesday now cause i cant keep up with the spotlight if i wanna get new cards
I'm a new player, and I reached infinite rank in less than a week, with a budget deck that only used cards from pool 1 (even because I didn't even reach the collection level for pool 2). Maybe I just got bots, or whatever. The point is that I reached position 150, and now I only face people with meta decks, with an absurd powercreep. After I learned that I need months of playing every day to reach and complete pool 3, considering that I will lose every match until I have a decent deck... In the end, based on the video, the game apparently has little variety of decks. Even reaching the goal, matches are decided on RNG. In other words, progression is slow if I don't spend, and when I reach the objective, the game becomes tedious due to the repetitiveness and lack of new game modes. How can a beginner be motivated to keep playing this?
Games fun to experiment at lower levels and gets players into the card earning loop (which is their money printing glitch) but can't do that past a certain level to stay competitive idk ~60 or so on the infinite climb. Slot machine vs slot machine sim with an ever changing meta and busted season pass cards obviously favoring people that paid. No UI or QOL changes in months it's kinda easy to see where their focus is : 🐳 Rant over

They're greed will ultimately destroy this game. It used to seem like they cared about us collecting the cards as much as they did us putting decks together and battling. No, matchmaking is rigged, play ongoing, discard, and destroy decks along with a deck with this week's card and notice what you don't get matched with on each one. Stale game state losing interest
Bro, can I have your stuff? Kidding! I enjoy full move deck, I used it last 2 months to get to infinite and top 3k or so. I know it's not top tier but l love the deck
nah the game isnt and esport and doubt it ill ever get there. and its fine not every game has to be an esport. im not a fan of the meta cause all my opponents seem to play same 2-3 decks and gets borring . i try to have fun with random cards and just play it as a "colection" type of game and not take it too seriously. if i was rich i probably would spend tons of money on variants and other bullshit lol
i don't see how the game is pay to win at all. i've been playing since pc release and haven't spent a single cent. hit infinite each season and just completed my series 3 cards a couple weeks ago. there's no incentive to be high ranked in infinite so what's the point of having to play the best deck all the time? having said that, the bundle pricing is an absolute joke but they are just variants so who cares? it's the same thing as buying skins in other games.
An extra video for all the true Snapmania enjoyers. Normal vid still coming out today in like 10 hours so look forward to it.

1 week without playing this and im glad i stopped. But I'll keep supporting and watching the vids.

But I guess the whole initial concept is “Random casual game” vs “Competitive high skill-cap game”
@@Unshaven_one That's probably just a me thing, I know people like that, I just prefer more competitive games.
Except in poker you dont know the opponents cards in marvel snap it's pretty obvious after they play a couple what deck they have
I just want more to do and more interesting rewards, if im going to grind give me a reason.
Same here
I feel like the one thing this game needs (and with how old it is, it honestly shouldve had it already) is a Guild system, i mean they ARE working on it im glad but we should already have this system and IF it is as content filled as we expect, i would probably feel alot more different about this game, but yeah, its really boring rn

Unless you can swap out decks in competitive the answer is no
SNAP investors and designers LISTEN TO THIS GUY. Let the devs make this game great again!!
Yes, it's bloody hard to get new cards. And no, Thanos sucks because I don't have the "new" cards.
Thanks for the extra video! Love your points and rants lol i hit infinite with Phoenix/Nimrod deck!
Nice work!

Opponents play the same shit, over and over, last season was destroy and Selene annihilator, this season is annihilator Selene and shit.. i am tired.
Game is kinda getting mad stale.
appreciate the double upload and different type of videos recently. keep it up man you entertain me daily!
I do my best!
Very fun game, but extremely sadly currently not e-sport material.
This could be considered a sport if you can manage to buy the ball every week.
Hi Romek, so glad I left this game behind months ago.
No UI or QOL changes in months it's kinda easy to see where their focus is : 🐳

"This game was already pay to win." - An honest bitter truth.

Snap dislikes consistency because it'll drive away the lowest common denominator (the casual), and RNG gameplay is one of many way to attract the casuals because that way, the casuals can just blame their luck instead their own action/ inaction in game.
Also if the game become too consistent/ sweaty, I'm absolutely sure the newcomer will be hesitated to stay if the game has higher skill ceiling and skill floor. example: YGO and Heartstone
Agree and disagree
Not alot of tcg update/balance as much as this team does
For card aquisition i'm still not sure, kinda miss that you can unlock series 4-5 (instead of conquest keys) in the reward ladder, I do like the cache system in the sense that if you're free to play or only buy the battle pass you have to manage your ressources, rng part kinda sucks, would be nice to choose what to unlock with the keys instead of being lucky
Been climbing infinite every season very casually, best tips I can give is to avoid rng location, distrixt X, Weirdworld, lamentis, mother ship and old krakoa, and sometime TVA depending on the deck i'm playing, are all automatic escape, not letting chance deicide on the outcome of those matches
The pvp experience does feel better once you reach infinite and there's no more bots
I don't agree on the spend money part to get more card, the meta is wide enough that yes there's deck you won't beat but at the same time you can't expect to own every single card being a free player, I don't know how true this is from second diner, but we're suppose to play against player of the same collection level
I don't recall any new card being an absolute must get or straight up lose every single match up
for competitive side it would be nice to have a kind of mini tournament, gauntlet, conquest is definitely a step in the right direction but its not a tournament
I would wish for another queu (wich I believe is on the way per the road map)
I mean no disrespect to any content creator out there by this point, if you're in a position of making an earning from playing a game, even you find it stale, boring, i'd say keep to yourself, no hard working or regular person wants to hear you complain about this meta, or this card, or this stuff not up to your liking, you're in a position a lot of people can't get to, my honest opinion on the matter
Last point would be that at the end of the day this game is also a business, and I believe they're smart enough to go in the direction that will get them Sales, if people buy the stupid overly expensive bundles they will keep popping them out, same for the conquest ticket bundles (what an atrocity)
keep them videos coming out, and pardon my French, english isn't my forte
Romek here with the RantMania (with valid points)
Never close to an esport
I don’t feel very good about the state of the game. The most interesting cards they ever released are Loki and Nico. My plan for now is to play this season till the end and go for a hiatus until something changes.
No, matchmaking is rigged, play ongoing, discard, and destroy decks along with a deck with this week's card and notice what you don't get matched with on each one. Stale game state losing interest
Marvel snap is a game that has too many RNG elements to be considered a true competitive eSport imo. It's about as competitive as pokemon
You feel like this game needs rotation with better ways to get cards?
I think the game is too random to be competitive.
why the fxck has all sorts of card skins...
Need more thanos gameplay
Bro, can I have your stuff? Kidding! I enjoy full move deck, I used it last 2 months to get to infinite and top 3k or so. I know it's not top tier but l love the deck
meta is boring decks are boring. they killed so many fun and exciting decks.
Love you romek!
It's too rng to be a Esport
nah the game isnt and esport and doubt it ill ever get there. and its fine not every game has to be an esport. im not a fan of the meta cause all my opponents seem to play same 2-3 decks and gets borring . i try to have fun with random cards and just play it as a "colection" type of game and not take it too seriously. if i was rich i probably would spend tons of money on variants and other bullshit lol
i don't see how the game is pay to win at all.
i've been playing since pc release and haven't spent a single cent. hit infinite each season and just completed my series 3 cards a couple weeks ago.
there's no incentive to be high ranked in infinite so what's the point of having to play the best deck all the time?
having said that, the bundle pricing is an absolute joke but they are just variants so who cares? it's the same thing as buying skins in other games.
