I know that most people like to praise the art team, but I don't think they've ever really nailed this zone style in the modern Era. Val'Sharah, Ardenweald, and now this zone all feel the exact same with slightly different palettes.
Problem I have with most "Emerald Dream" zones over the years, is they look too much like a local park... It should be a LOT more wild, with large, strange plants taking up a good chunk of the terrain. Sholazar Basin, Zangarmarsh, Ardenweald, and other zones along those lines, matched that description a LOT better.
the whole point of the emerald dream is that it belongs to the titans. the life there is ORDERED. it’s not the wild nature realm. it’s BOUND. it’s not supposed to be wild and free, that’s why it’s a dream and not reality.
@@notyourdaughter666 Life and growth are inherently chaotic forces. And it doesn't make any sense for it to be so drab, when it's literally a "dream" dimension, and one in which the druids draw their power from. If it's that powerful, it should look the part. Also, areas like Sholazar Basin were also heavily influenced by the Titans. So that's not really a valid excuse for developer laziness. Don't waste your time making excuses for them, when they've already provided other contrasting examples of what they're capable of.
It's not just this new zone, a lot of places in the game now all have a very same-y look. It's all vegitation or very slight modifications of what we've seen before copy pasted all over the place. Even the architecture in a lot of zones has for the most part looked very similar for a while now (hexa/octagonal shapes for floors and towers and platforms, a nice trim on the edges and a little flourish at the corners). The new nerubian zone in the War Within panel is a great example of this. You could tell me it was a part of Revendreth, a new wing/biome in Torghast, or some kind of black, red, blue or green dragon structures somehwere in the dragon isles and I would believe you. It all just looks the same to me.
I am so glad to finally see someone who shares the same opinion on this as me. They've been reusing the same boring motifs ad nauseam and at this point it feels like even the art team is starting to falter. I wouldnt be surprised if i were to find out a lot of the assets ARE just reused.
I mean this expansion hasn’t really had much to do that isn’t just cosmetic grinds… it’s all been pretty boring if you go through it. But it’s WoW so eh whatever
Does it really matter do. We fly at 500% speed over everything. Hell you would drop me into one of the dragonflight zones on the ground and i would get lost. I feel that as long as flying exists the world is at best a background decoration.
@@Shinanesu I quit before that raid, only seen some screens and footage, but wasn't it a huge old god city though? Not just the same as a leveling zone? Like the Dream is basically just Val'sharah.
twenty years ago devs: emerald dream focused addon would be shit. everything is green and looks the same. players 2023: everything green *suprised pikachu face*
It looks much better in-game. The video clips don't do it justice. It's one of the nicer looking zones they've made. I had the same opinion as asmon prior to playing it. I now think it's one of the nicest zones they've made and is better than Ardenweald.
About Mythic+, people need to realize, when Asmon says things like "There's way too much shit to do in current mythic plus", for the AVERAGE PLAYER, he's not wrong, and changing it will result in a better game experience for the average player. It's a lot to worry about and is extremely discouraging for new players, especially when they get kicked for not knowing how to deal with a specific trash pack that needs an interrupt rotation
Asmongolds brain is only set to one setting - gotta do everything 100%. Thats not how the game works anymore. You pick and choose what you do and how much you do, since the stuff you actually have to do has been cut down very much.
What about people stick to content they can deal with? I'm also not going into a manager position in a company without having the necessary skills. I don't know why in today's games everybody has to see every content. If you want to advance, get better, but stop constantly asking the game to become easier. Instead of feeling bad that you can't clear mythic raid or m+ 25s and higher, maybe start appreciating the players who can. Try to idolize them and get better instead of just crying. In +15s you don't have to interrupt anything to clear it. On another note, I would advocate for a change in m+. Instead of making it not needed to interrupt the stuff that needs to be interrupted, maybe just cleanse the trash/bosses of mechanics on lower key levels, but keep them deadly. Imo people go through lower m+ without learning the necessity of interrupting and when damage starts getting to high, people are dying of it. That's why I feel like in a +6 for example, stuff should also be deadly if you fuck up, but it should be just less stuff. We all know how you have caster trash mobs that deal like 15 % dmg to you with a cast on a low key. And over time that becomes a 1shot at a high enough key lvl. People won't learn to play the right way, if it doesn't hurt enough. So I feel like in a low key you should have to interrupt less, cause there are less casts/mechanics, but they should all be important instead of as it is right now, you got a lot of shit that does nothing and can be ignored. Typing this in the train on my phone, so excuse mistakes and layout pls :)
No it is not. M+ is extremely easy on the lower levels. People will complain its too easy, people will complain its too hard. We always have enjoyed M+ the people who actually play it so leave it alone!!! as someone who plays m+ a lot of high levels. the Affix are not that hard that people make them out to be. Love it when it encourages us to strategies on the higher keys.
@@Sham-zo8mu about the affix thing, I agree. People are just to obsessed with Rio imo. If they would care less about it and could enjoy playing a 26 on a given week even, though they maybe could do a 28 on another, it would be a whole different experience. But I think affixes like afflicted and incorporeal aren't that fun. It's more frustrating when you have to either dispell both or heal 1 as a healer or you can't help at all as a dps (you can have eyes and use Los to not get the debuff. Worked really well in uldaman for example)
Definitely agree about the zone's visuals. It's especially salient because this is a zone we have been hearing about for years and waiting to get to see and explore. It had so much mystery and magic around it... and then we get there and its just like every other nature-y zone... enjoying the patch so far but the zone is a snooze fest.
Yeah the zone is terrible and quests are very underwhelming. Feels like it was put together in 3 months and they didn’t even know this was going to be the last patch of the exspansion. Very very very sadge end to an otherwise good exspansion
They should be holding that Axe with one hand at the bottom and one hand 2/3rds up, with every swing that hand slides down to the bottom hand like you're splitting some wood (if you Parry keep the hands in that beginning position).
The one thing you have to take into account is that the Emerald Dream was made the way it is by Freya. So technically the very ordered and safe feel of the zone is due the interaction with the Keepers.
Chatter who complained about "free" gear has never been fucked out of his tier set for weeks and weeks at a time. I did LFR, Normal, and Heroic Tomb of Sargeras every week and it took forever to get my tier set.
4:45 "It is almost like they put these mobs inside the game just to give you things to do". Take a moment and reflect a little bit about that statement.
The axe should be held one hand nearer to the top and one hand at the bottom. You don't swing an axe from the bottom. Your higher hand guides the swing.
No matter how many times I clear AQ 40 and Naxx in Classic Vanilla I never feel any less satisfied by the accomplishment. Nothing in Retail manages to deliver that or has for many years.
i think you forget that the emerald dream isn’t supposed to be wild and savage, it’s a place of refuge and was created by a titan. it’s not meant to be the nature realm. it’s ordered nature, ordered by the titans to be a utopia of a planet with no intelligent life. ALSO, elder cassaphine specifically says that the dream is stagnant and never changes, never gets more green, etc. and that’s because it’s not SUPPOSED to. it is literally a DREAM and not reality because of that fact. if it was a realm of pure nature, THEN it would be feral and wild, but it’s ordered nature. if you want the savagery and whatnot of the dream, then blame the titans for making it ordered and join the druids of the flame lmao
8:50 Weight distribution is such a moronic argument, an axe is meant to have its point of balance past the hand becuase it increases striking power. If you want a weapon wthat is balanced right at the users hand or closer to it thats what a sword is for.
8:29 no your fix and how its done is a low t moment. you dont hold an axe at the hilt. You hold it half way up with 1 and hand at the bottom of the hilt with another.
I also think it would have been coo to have an event like they did in Cata where deathwing would fly over the zone and set it on fire, but in the Emerald Dream it's a totally new creature that you hear about through NPC word of mouth, and when it spawns it's a deferent form every time and it's like the The Tarragrue but obviously done better. Something like The Thing that players can fight but have to find at some random location within the dream, and it's set up like Asmon said, the green pans labyrinth
I think their M+ player figures clearly show that it's too complicated. I played a TON of season 1 of DF and was so intimidated trying to get into higher keys. It was my first expansion playing intensely for years, and the game was so much more complex than I remembered. Alethgar Academy, Ruby Life Pools...every pack has like 4 different mechanics you need to know and a bunch of different spells to interrupt. It doesn't make it more fun, it's just more stressful. I got KSM in season 1 and I'd had enough
Me and you are really similar here. Season 1 was my first time tryharding in a long time and I pushed to KSH for the first time ever and it was extremely unfun some days. I'll be happy to see some of the mechanics get stripped away and a more relaxed journey.
damn i feel bad for you as thundering was arguably the worst seasonal affix in an while, luckily the beta version got severe changes its quite funny looking back at what it was before but yeah sucks you didnt get to enjoy awakening, encrypted or even shrouded where you're character was playing with 100% haste 🤣or that the devs are too lazy nowadays to even bother with an seasonal affix
I just hate the entire idea of M+. I hate the timer and I hate how formulaic the whole thing is. It's just a game of numbers. It's not interesting. The pre-nerf Cata heroics were so much more fun.
What i would want from the events like Researchers Under Fire and Superbloom is being able to form a group and start it because i have all classes and it's kind of boring having to choose which event to go and missing another and then just wait practically two days to do everything event with every character or at least reduce the cd rotation, make the event start every 20 min would be great
Emerald dream we see in game was ordered by Titans so probably that's why this place looks so boring. I hoped if we travel deeper in untouched part of the dream we see more mystical and eerie parts of the natue.
@@richardanthony7855 The area itself is really nice but not amazing. It resembles Val'sharah too much. As Asmon said, it should resemble Pan's Labyrinth, a place full of secrets and twilight, where an unwary druid could get lost forever. I feel that we have too much sun and open space here. And why we see buildings there, if ED should be untouched by human hands? Take a look at the appearance of Ardenweald and Emerlad dream. when the new zone is 7/10 Ardenweald looks 11/10 When they tell you that Emerald dream is a mirror of Ardenweald you expect the same visual level
@@impas2349 fair, maybe it’s because I really enjoyed the narrative and cutscenes I played last night. so much more coherent, shadowlands was like recalling a drunken night and missing the details
@@richardanthony7855 In Legion Sharm make Music Video about emerald dream. I always hoped that Emerald dream would turn out to be a twisted combination, a maze from Alice in Wonderland and moors from Maleficent just like in her video
I preferred the alpha classic WoW version of the Emerald Dream that was never released. Wide open expanses of weird giant flower things that goes on seemingly endless. Floating rocks with roots sprouting out of them. Big green patterns on the ground. It was clearly an unfinished map, kind of like a white box, but I think that actually really captures the essence of the Dream - it's an unfinished prototype of Azeroth, something that is massive yet incomplete, something that feels kinda weird and uncanny and unnatural like the backrooms. I think the issue with the one they gave us, as others have pointed out, is that it's too compact and over designed. I really wish retail WoW could get a barrens or Hellfire Peninsula type zone where it's just a wide open area that really makes you feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.
Yea. That is what I thought it would be like. This is majorly disappointing. Love the mischievous mystical look that had. The spiral growth shapes on the ground, the large expanse of growth and massive plant life going out of control. It was a bit haunting and enchanting. That is without it ever being fully developed. How sad to see it not realized... Glad I gave up on this game. Keep hoping, but always disappointed...
@@acchre6465 uh huh, but I'm saying it should be like that because it should feel unfinished. A finished Emerald Dream should feel unfinished, like a prototype, like a dream - not highly detailed, but weird and unfamiliar.
For me, the biggest issue is that it's too small and overworked, you can't compare 1 small zone to the big world of classic wow. Especially when you take dragon riding in to consideration, I feel like every zone is overdone and has several subzones inside them instead of keeping it simple with a static theme for each zone like Elwynn forest
its actually not that small it just feels like it becuase of dragon flying. Most zones in DF are the size of two zones pre df bc they have to make them bigger otherwise you would clear them in 30 secs.
Only thing I wish is a day where most of the community loves the improvements. Most of us going back with Asmongold included. Playing for the pure joy of World of Warcraft.
I agree regarding Rare. They should all be triggerable which would encourage participation between players in these zones. A group of players is working together to spawn X rare or accomplish some task to spawn a rare.
@@wight4991 Why would it be impossible? It would just take longer. If you need to collect The Five Meatballs to summon The Noodlemonster, you could collect each of them yourself, or you could party/trade to split the work and summon it 5x faster. Think something like the Atziri Sacrifice fragments from Path of Exile for example.
I want open world to be hard in general. I had to work with a friend to do the elite world quest, and that felt fun because we actually had to think about not pulling too many elites.
Emerald Dream is where the druids get their power isn't it? While I think a Pans Labyrinth type zone would be totally awesome, it doesn't really fit the wow druid vibe.
This isn’t the emerald dream as a whole. It’s a tiny slice that’s basically been tended to by the green dragons. It’s not a true wild emerald dream zone. Remember green dragons got their power from the titans. Titan magic in this application is more like tending a garden. It’s ordered life. Not wild. So the green dragons would have been tasked to make a garden of the dream. Not let it stay wild.
Totally agree with the aspects of a realm being terrifying like the Rage the Apocalypse version of balance where the Wyld(unbridled growth/life/creation), the Weaver(that which gives form and purpose/control), and the Wyrm(chaos/destruction/making space for new life through death), acted in balance but each of them on their own if they were to dominate the balance would be horrifying. The Weaver loses its mind because all of its creations keep getting destroyed so it binds the Wyrm making it go insane, causing the destructive side of reality to become hyperactive in its pursuits. When people think of the Fae realms in settings like D&D its usually fuckin terrifying. Its like you turn nature up to 11, predators become super predators, prey creatures engage in bizarre uses of illusion, poisons, magics, etc. Yeah, the place is full of life, which intrinsically means its full of death as well since one sustains the other, you should feel on edge and in danger in places teeming with life.
lemme give you some quotes from DnD itself on the Feywild "this land can kill mortals as quickly as any of its dangerous inhabitants.", " the Feywild is an extremely dangerous place, even for those who call it home", "The Feywild is deadly, there are no two ways around it.", "Even if visitors from the Material Plane manage to survive the untamed wilderness, innumerable deadly creatures call the Plane of Faeries home", that's just a few snips from the beginner's guide to the Feywild, so when you say 'no', what are you sayin 'no' to?
I think the Emerald Dream still looks nice. But yeah I can see it being a bit disappointing given it looks too similar to other zones that have a night elf or druid aesthetic.
That's why I just do dungeons in Wrath as opposed to M+ in retail. A titan forged gamma dungeon is way more fun and still provides some form of challenge whereas there is so much shit going on in retail M+ that it makes it unfun
8:17 my guess is they use the same animations for all 2H weapons same with the draw and sheath animations, changing the way an NPC wields/attacks with a weapon would have near catastrophic effects on the rest of the 2 handers in the game and probably is one the least important problems that the devs need to fix atm to be honest.
mid grip just looks better when you dual wielding 2x 2h wep as warr, i just wish hands were little bit far away from each other with bit of space between when we weild 2h like this
I mostly just checked out when during an expansion titled "Dragonflight" they removed most of the things I could fly with in the zones that we would mainly be in. I guess World of Warcraft: Dragonglidingsometimeswhenitsoffcooldowntillyouearnbettergliding doesn't have the same ring to it. Them adding it back in as an option was long over due.
As someone who used to frequently exploration exploit I'm so disappointed with how the Emerald Dream looks, I highly prefer the old unfinished version's aesthetics. They actually looked unique.
I really feel like people are overstating how bad the Emerald Dream looks. I agree that it should look more ethereal and have more saturated colors, but I still think it works. It still gives off a subtle mystic tranquility that I would expect from it. It still feels like there’s a teeming nature energy flowing in and around everything. Some of the more foggy areas still give off a sort of mysterious aura that the Emerald Dream has. It’s certainly far from perfect, but I think it still accomplishes the main things I’d want the Emerald Dream’s visuals to portray.
the zone is perfectly fine. The problem is it was just overhyped over the years, that it could have been an expansion by itself. The zone is totally alright, with fun storylines and things to explore. Superbloom is nice, the planting seeds stuff is alright too. Its a calm, green zone without much chaos as it should be.
@@rsf886 At first ive been trying to calibrate my screen thinking something was wrong. But when you logout in valdrakken the moment timer is over the fog is gone for a second. Just some stupid overlay they put in the game thinking it looks great.
I remember when Ion said that about Demo in WoD. It was absolutely busted in terms of dmg at launch, one shotting people with Chaos Wave. It was ironically at one of its best states design and gameplay wise and yet they nerfed it to the ground because it's "too confusing" compared to destro and affliction.
Have none of the developers at Blizzard ever chopped wood? Ever held a baseball bat? Golf club? Anything you swing? That looks absolutely stupid the way they are holding the axe.
ppl saying ED is boring have no idea what it is. yes it looks like val'sharah because druids have been making it an image of ED. it was clearly stated back in legion. and ED is obviously ordered by titans, that's why the life there is not overgrown or withered. THIS is why ED is merely green and THIS is why they made it a single zone and not a whole expansion. it will probably be explored more in the future specially with the last titan expansion or later on.
Exactly I always view emerald dream as a endless forest filled woth that weird statues and creatures. Perfect example of what im saying is a Forest in Princess Mononoke same with animals like that guardian of the forest which was rly intimitading to look at or those little wisps. In dragonflight it looks like a garden from my little pony
the thing about zones: most of them are very subjective. apart from stranglethorn and duskwood, most of the classic leveling zones hadnt had the "feel" to them. plaguelands, that was the good shit. then northrend, nearly every zone was an absolute banger. after northrend? stormheim, tiragarde and drustvar. thats about it for good zones. out of the newer ones, i think revendreth and waking shores take the cake
Frostfire Ridge was dope, Legion zones were alright, wasn't a fan of BFA/Shadowland zones at all. MoP had like two zones I enjoyed, Cata zones were boring except for water zone, Wrath was peak(minus the troll zone) BC zones sucked, and classic had hit and misses throughout.
I remember when they cut Thal'dranath because they said it would be boring to have another Naga tropical island (Legion barely actually had that, even though the broken isles were meant to be that) and then they add the most generic zone for the end of dragon flight lmao.
I agree pan's labyrinth would be cool, but the Emerald dream aesthetic was decided in classic and reestablished a few times since. I wouldn't blame blizz art team for going for lore accuracy over ret coning something that was shown as recent as legion.
Agree on all points about the zones. Not only is it just sort of visually boring, there's also just nothing here. There are huge open spaces where there's literally nothing - no mobs, no patrols, no critters.. It just sort of feels empty tbh.
Emerald dream is a titan construct guys. The lifelands is where the entangling creepy overgrowth seen in the raw form of nature is supposed to be, not the Emerald Dream
Superbloom: you follow a tree and zerg everything the game spawns right in front of you Frenzy: takes one bigger pull and you're finished Seeds: was good the first 24 hours, but got hotfix nerfed to the point of being useless You can do all of that in less than 1 hour after reset and it'll be outdated as soon as you did like 1 nhc/hc raid clear or 3-4 M+. Tell me where that's different from sitting in your garrison and waiting something happens in Warlords of Draenor.
Asmon... The reason they hold the axe like that is because the designer was told to choke up on the baseball bat by his dad non stop and kept help it now.... :)
For those worrying about "Dragon Isles Pathfinder" Achievement, don't. It's super, super easy to get. Basically all you have to do is explore every place in each zone (unlock the map, basically, which is simple. You just fly there), and finish the quests like 1-2 zones. That's it.
After seeing all the content and items that can drop from this zone and raid I am 110% convinced most of this was at one time suppose to be a part of Shadowlands. A majority of the items look like they're all jailer related and the zone is a recoloured Ardenweld and Firelands redux. After decades of waiting to finally enter the Emerald dream- we get this.
We have already been into the emerald dream in legion, at the end of the emerald nightmare raid so yea...we kinda already knew how it was going to look like
Think of how many iconic locations that could have been an entire expansion: Argus: 3 if arguably the worst zones in WoW history as a small patch Emerald Nightmare and Ny’alotha: Small Raids Emerald Dream: Yet just a small patch. Meanwhile Blizzard is making expansions out of stuff they pull of the ass. Outlands: “Yup I said it. That’s was their first f**k up” Cata: “OUCH!!!” Panda-Land: “…” Alternate Outlands: “Nuff said” Shadowland: “No sh!t Sherlock!” An Underground Cave: “I rest my Case Your Honour!”
its insane, for the first time ever do i watch a content update and feel nothing no exciement, no anger nothing straight up just dont give a fk. Man wow what happend to you.
I'm a druid lore nut, and being real, this patch very nearly made me delete my account. It's a goddamn travesty what they did to the Emerald Dream and the story within it. It's not just bad, it's plain wrong. Leading up to the patch I thought that they somehow misinterpreted their own lore somehow, but now that I'm in it, I see that they didn't take it into consideration in the first place. It makes no sense at all and has no connection to anything that came before whatsoever. I don't quite agree with what Asmon thinks the Emerald Dream should be like, but he's also not entirely wrong. I wouldn't say it should be Pan's Labyrinth exactly, with growth gone wild. The Emerald Dream isn't meant to be the the "Life Lands" or whatever from the cosmology chart, the Emerald Dream is supposed to be the Beta of Azeroth, with half finished mountains, trees floating as if awaiting installation, a god of creation's abandoned project, filled with nature and primordial beings. The zone should look more like an Un'goro themed version of Zerith Mortis, with truly gigantic devilsaur queen like beasts and bog monsters trudging underneath a dark, canopied forest and ancient, vine coated statues and Titan installations. There should be a Krasarang Swamp style area, a Feralas like area, and sure, a Val'sharah like area, but not the whole friggin zone. The Emerald Dream zone (the parts not blasted with Firelands) are just Val'sharah + Ardenweald and I hate it. Also, buildings?! There should be no buildings or structures of any kind in the Emerald Dream except the small tents and stuff our little invading party brought with us. The big Ysera castle thing and Dragonflight structures piss me off so much. They should not be there. Period. At MOST, I would have accepted some Titan structures poking out here or there like the World Engine in Northrend. And don't even talk to me about the story, it's incomprehensible. How the hell is infusing a tree with fire magic supposed to grant immortality? What the fuck are we even talking about anymore? XD This is right on par with "A wizard cast a spell, shut up." level of making no fucking sense whatsoever and just wanting to do whatever you want to do. Hell, they have that book on Elune'ahir, calling it the first world tree and stuff, completely forgetting that they already have a first world tree in G'hanir the Mother Tree XD Then again, they butchered G'hanir's story with Shadowlands, since G'hanir is supposed to be the afterlife for all winged things, including dragons, and we all know that didn't fucking pan out either XD It's nonsense.
honestly the thing with the zones visuals is its tied to the lore. its ment to be Azeroth if people never developed on it and nature just kept going...honestly I think it fits that well but I get what your saying.
I agree they need to rethink rare spawns. I think first of all they should take them off the map. Have them appear organically where players are playing not this boring mad rush from dot to dot on the map. . . And like all outdoor/non-instanced content in WoW, make them more difficult. There should actually be a chance you die from fighting a rare. Even if it's only a 5% chance... they are target dummies rn. Fallen Charger is the perfect example of a good one. It was organic. Someone like "fallen charger was so annoying to get"... Good. It's a rare spawn and mount. It shouldn't just be a checklist you go place to place ... Fallen Charger actually appeared out in the wild when you would be doing something else and whoever was in the area would help fight it, and it was organic and fun
As a druid main and a huge fan of druid lore! Ive been waiting for the emerald Dream for YEARS! got everything done in dream on achievement besides the storyline! Hopefully the timegate will be liftwd today. Need my forest lords antlers! And valshara was and is supposed to look like the emerald dream 😆
I hope because of this update, druid will be added for more races *forsaken druid please* ! I know i'm demanding the impossible but hey, i can hope you know?
Same shit, over and over and over and over again. It's better than what we got in Shadowlands, yet no one, literally no one, ever has to watch those previews - if you played WoW in the past 6 to 8 years, you know what its gonna be.
BIG W ASMON! I hate the the way they hold axes now. Its the reason i dont use axes anymore and all of them are trash. I ve been cutting wood for years and i dont hold the axe from the middle ffs.
still no solo dungeons .... i'm not a big raid / dungeon crawler, i like lone wolfing hence i look forward to delving, but these dungeons need solo content
Yeah I will never understand how they can have just raid bosses stand around. At least let us feel like we are catching them offguard or turn a raid into a heist. Them standing around always takes me out of the game.
agree, it was ok 20 years ago, but today a little bit more immersiveness would be appreciated. especially since blizzard defended having trash for the sake of keeping the raid immersiveness.
I absolutely do not support blizzard putting their time into this. This is some raid finder lvl shit that we do not care about. Id much rather get 1 extra boss than this "catching offguard" roleplay.
The amt of time ppl spend looking to be mad at the game, and disappointed, is telling, asmon gets a pass bc it makes him money to act this way. The zone looks pretty and natury, thats all it needs to be, the rest of the enjoyment comes from your own ability to storytell your own narrative when youre there, no one is required to spoon feed you the happiness youre looking for.
ofc they put the rares in for somethign to do; its an MMO, but more .. its the catch up mechanism to the current bottom of tier; you do the superbloom and get a bunch of ilvl 441/whatever so you feel good, but really its getting you ready for the new m+ etc, thats all. The delves are important for 11.0, cause the whole run arouund in a crazy world event farming stuff with 500 other people is getting tired, and after you've done it for a few days on a toon you're all caught up and odn't need it; then you're left with questing (a consumable) and PVP and m+ pretty much (ignoring little things like pet battles etc.) Theres lots to do, but only a couple _kinds_ of things, and if you're a joe random world guy who doesn't want to invest hard in pvp or m+, you're sort of stuck. Delves should hopefully provide the dolo and small group peeps something to do thats more chill.
I actually enjoy the new zone, so many easter eggs where they've used assets and design queues from the OG Emerald Dream in classic that was found back in the day before it was abandoned for TBC (look up youtube videos for it). The fact they included those assets is a nice touch. Asmond still wants the Emerald Nightmare, but that was cleansed in Legion. Think of the dream after Xavius was killed, and this is what you got.
complains about how the dream looks ever though thats how its looked since vanilla, it looked like this in legion and valsharah was said to look as close to the dream as possible, there are likely places in the dream that arent tended to like the ones weve seen, also shadowlands ruined how the dream and its denizens function, when an ancient dies the go to the dream until they are reborn in our reality, so why is that the case for cenarius but not ursoc, ie shadowlands is shit tier writing made by morons who simped a dead elf
Emerald dream looks like a typical night elf location.
Getting the typical night elf treatment.
It's much nicer in-game compared to the clips. I'd argue it's one of the nicer Zones they've ever made and a step up from Ardenweald

I'm so tired of having the gear I've farmed invalidated after each new patch tbh
Gives you something to work towards :)

Imagine eating the same steak, prepared the same way, every single day, for months.
Then imagine your steak now served with some green salad.
Yeah, all I see is the same things again and again. I feel like reading the books is more exciting atm, maybe i'm old now :|
Does it really matter do. We fly at 500% speed over everything. Hell you would drop me into one of the dragonflight zones on the ground and i would get lost. I feel that as long as flying exists the world is at best a background decoration.
As someone who has never played, i think it’s actually good looking. Especially compared to other games
Twenty years to finally see the Dream and that was it?..
Nya'lotha enjoyers be like: First time?
I like prealpha emerald dream more lmao
@@radenkovic2856 uhhhhh... why should I idolize a gaming nerd! Turn off the internet and get back to school! Shoooo
I think the Emerald Dream should have been a bigger zone. I do, however, like how it looks. Flying through the zone feels great.
It should’ve been a whole expansion imo
Definitely agree about the zone's visuals. It's especially salient because this is a zone we have been hearing about for years and waiting to get to see and explore. It had so much mystery and magic around it... and then we get there and its just like every other nature-y zone... enjoying the patch so far but the zone is a snooze fest.
Bro not even just years, but actually decades! Very disappointing.
Gotta wait for wow 2 in 2070.
Thank you, this is something that has always annoyed me with axes, since it uses the two handed sword animations, it just looks super weird.
I just want them to hold the freaking axes form the bottom of the weapon not the middle, its like a one hander like this
OPs right
Lol you think Blizzard employees have ever swung an axe
I really liked the vaultbot rare from mechagon. Instead of killing him with damage you lured him to the big robo scrapper thing to open him up.
Or, like me, you dragged him off shore and around the whole zone in the water so nobody can find him.
Best rare spawn = MAIL MUNCHER
it's not just that it looks cooler. the weapon is just more effective when held at the bottom like that, you can get more power in each swing.
8:20 While we're at it, they should give idle poses for unsheathed weapons. Like resting a 2h weapon on your shoulder, that would look fucking cool.
If it’s not a reusable asset I wouldn’t count on it.
I always thought the emerald dream was going to be like the diablo 3's realm of unbending fate with more emphasis on dreams.
@@ChinnuWoWyour just old homie.
M+ are supose to be stressful and hard otherwise its only trivial content
What i would want from the events like Researchers Under Fire and Superbloom is being able to form a group and start it because i have all classes and it's kind of boring having to choose which event to go and missing another and then just wait practically two days to do everything event with every character or at least reduce the cd rotation, make the event start every 20 min would be great
Emerald dream we see in game was ordered by Titans so probably that's why this place looks so boring. I hoped if we travel deeper in untouched part of the dream we see more mystical and eerie parts of the natue.
It looks really good in there, great music too.
Ohn ara plains, basically.
@@Shitsu Yeah, but slightly larger and much more trippy
That zone was like that . Because it was vastly unfinished. Smh wow gamers
Especially when you take dragon riding in to consideration, I feel like every zone is overdone and has several subzones inside them instead of keeping it simple with a static theme for each zone like Elwynn forest
ya the new zones are way too packed with stuff, theres no room to breathe. Also, where do I find the Evelyn forest?
Is this retail WOW or an addition to classic or what?
its actually not that small it just feels like it becuase of dragon flying.
A group of players is working together to spawn X rare or accomplish some task to spawn a rare.
yeah no. so these rares will die out and be impossible to do later, when player participation dies down.
@@hankmartin9455 yeah hard to do while it is current stuff ok, but not IMPOSSIBLE to solo now and LATER after the expansion is over
Emerald Dream is where the druids get their power isn't it? While I think a Pans Labyrinth type zone would be totally awesome, it doesn't really fit the wow druid vibe.
As someone who stopped playing after shadowlands, this shit does not make me excited to come back and play ardenweald 1.5
1:30 but that was the whole point of val'sharah, that it was made to look like the emerald dream. it does still look like shit though
Are rare spawns really rare if they pop up on the map and tell the whole server to come?
This isn’t the emerald dream as a whole. It’s a tiny slice that’s basically been tended to by the green dragons. It’s not a true wild emerald dream zone. Remember green dragons got their power from the titans. Titan magic in this application is more like tending a garden. It’s ordered life. Not wild. So the green dragons would have been tasked to make a garden of the dream. Not let it stay wild.
For how plain the emerald dream looks the music is insane and does a lot for the zone imo
Doesn't do much for us that have always played without music :p
Insane? It's bland as oatmeal. Not much depth, it's just background sound.
"When people think of the Fae realms in settings like D&D its usually fuckin terrifying" no
lemme give you some quotes from DnD itself on the Feywild
"this land can kill mortals as quickly as any of its dangerous inhabitants.",
" the Feywild is an extremely dangerous place, even for those who call it home",
"The Feywild is deadly, there are no two ways around it.",
"Even if visitors from the Material Plane manage to survive the untamed wilderness, innumerable deadly creatures call the Plane of Faeries home",
that's just a few snips from the beginner's guide to the Feywild, so when you say 'no', what are you sayin 'no' to?
I think the Emerald Dream still looks nice. But yeah I can see it being a bit disappointing given it looks too similar to other zones that have a night elf or druid aesthetic.
Druids LITERALLY go to the emerald dream lol
It should be an area of untamed growth and mystery. Not some mowed lawns.
That's why I just do dungeons in Wrath as opposed to M+ in retail. A titan forged gamma dungeon is way more fun and still provides some form of challenge whereas there is so much shit going on in retail M+ that it makes it unfun
8:17 my guess is they use the same animations for all 2H weapons same with the draw and sheath animations, changing the way an NPC wields/attacks with a weapon would have near catastrophic effects on the rest of the 2 handers in the game and probably is one the least important problems that the devs need to fix atm to be honest.
mid grip just looks better when you dual wielding 2x 2h wep as warr, i just wish hands were little bit far away from each other with bit of space between when we weild 2h like this
4:50 breaking news. this just
in! they put stuff in the game so that you have stuff to do in the game.
Truly one of the takes of all time
emerald dream looks like ardenweald but green
I mostly just checked out when during an expansion titled "Dragonflight" they removed most of the things I could fly with in the zones that we would mainly be in. I guess World of Warcraft: Dragonglidingsometimeswhenitsoffcooldowntillyouearnbettergliding doesn't have the same ring to it. Them adding it back in as an option was long over due.
As someone who used to frequently exploration exploit I'm so disappointed with how the Emerald Dream looks, I highly prefer the old unfinished version's aesthetics. They actually looked unique.
Honestly about 2 hand weapons the hands need even more distance to each other wile holding and swinging this big weapons
Lets be real it's a bunch of grass patches
the zone is perfectly fine. The problem is it was just overhyped over the years, that it could have been an expansion by itself. The zone is totally alright, with fun storylines and things to explore. Superbloom is nice, the planting seeds stuff is alright too.
Its a calm, green zone without much chaos as it should be.
i mean being not very saturated with color makes perfect sense since it’s a DREAM.
Everything in DF has some white fog everywhere making the game not looking crystal clear, very annoying.
This hazy shit has been going on for a while, adds a mindless feeling to everything
I dont see any point of playing without QoL that were shown for TWW or the Delves.
exactly what i was thinking, maybe taking a break till the new addon comes out and play other games
I hope this whole area is destroyed in the next 3 expansions.
Get Sylvannas back, there's more trees to burn
6:30 looks like the 5man instance next to sunwell
Well yeah it's subjective. I've always found the Northrend damn suck.
@@garroshhellscream594 How dare you talk about my Grizzly Hills like that
Frostfire Ridge was dope, Legion zones were alright, wasn't a fan of BFA/Shadowland zones at all. MoP had like two zones I enjoyed, Cata zones were boring except for water zone, Wrath was peak(minus the troll zone) BC zones sucked, and classic had hit and misses throughout.
Do a tier list of all zones please
13:00 In MoP you got epics from mining notes on timeless isles 🤣🤣
What happened to rare elites without 372628k hp? I just want to solo rares not lfg for it.
Rares are catch up mechanic for low gear toons before they can LFG.
It just looks so dated but whilst people keep playing they are never going to do WOW2 and do what you are asking for and reset the whole experience.
The Emerald Dream zone should've been like that movie Annihilation.
Emerald dream is a titan construct guys. The lifelands is where the entangling creepy overgrowth seen in the raw form of nature is supposed to be, not the Emerald Dream
If we had gotten the dream patch years ago, The dream would have been creepy. Like what they did in warlords for that one dungeon.
Superbloom: you follow a tree and zerg everything the game spawns right in front of you
Frenzy: takes one bigger pull and you're finished
Seeds: was good the first 24 hours, but got hotfix nerfed to the point of being useless
You can do all of that in less than 1 hour after reset and it'll be outdated as soon as you did like 1 nhc/hc raid clear or 3-4 M+. Tell me where that's different from sitting in your garrison and waiting something happens in Warlords of Draenor.
those events and all the map mostly remind me of the "Heart of Thorns" dlc in guild wars 2...ironic
which add-ons do I need to download to play the new M+ dungeons for me and finish my renown?
Emerald Nightmare did a WAYYYYYYY better job imo, they were on the right track
Demonology should become a tank spec, demon form. They are doing it in Classic, do it in Retail.
They gut demon form from demo to create dh, go play dh, same spell than demo form in classic
Asmon... The reason they hold the axe like that is because the designer was told to choke up on the baseball bat by his dad non stop and kept help it now.... :)
4:25 My favorite Rare Spawn is Leaping Lizzy from Final Fantasy Xi. Sorry WoW and people. LOL
Yes, I know they're called Notorious Monsters.
We have already been into the emerald dream in legion, at the end of the emerald nightmare raid so yea...we kinda already knew how it was going to look like
Think of how many iconic locations that could have been an entire expansion:
Argus: 3 if arguably the worst zones in WoW history as a small patch
Emerald Nightmare and Ny’alotha: Small Raids
Emerald Dream: Yet just a small patch.
Meanwhile Blizzard is making expansions out of stuff they pull of the ass.
Outlands: “Yup I said it. That’s was their first f**k up”
Cata: “OUCH!!!”
Panda-Land: “…”
Alternate Outlands: “Nuff said”
Shadowland: “No sh!t Sherlock!”
An Underground Cave: “I rest my Case Your Honour!”
its insane, for the first time ever do i watch a content update and feel nothing no exciement, no anger nothing straight up just dont give a fk.
This emerald dream, was a concept by wow from back in the burning crusade days, I waited 20 years and I thought this would never come out
I'm in the middle of doing the events. And the zone is boring.
I feel like From soft has corrupted our brains with dark style scenes lmao. He wanted it to look like pans lab
honestly the thing with the zones visuals is its tied to the lore. its ment to be Azeroth if people never developed on it and nature just kept going...honestly I think it fits that well but I get what your saying.
9:08 one at the bottom, one towards the edge while neutral, and both at the bottom when attacking
I ve been cutting wood for years and i dont hold the axe from the middle ffs.
still no solo dungeons ....
i'm not a big raid / dungeon crawler, i like lone wolfing
hence i look forward to delving, but these dungeons need solo content
Emerald Dream should look like an overgrown Nagrand in Outlands...
Yeah I will never understand how they can have just raid bosses stand around. At least let us feel like we are catching them offguard or turn a raid into a heist. Them standing around always takes me out of the game.
agree, it was ok 20 years ago, but today a little bit more immersiveness would be appreciated. especially since blizzard defended having trash for the sake of keeping the raid immersiveness.
thats something bad with every mmo.
"I just dont give a shit" - story of dragonflight lore
ofc they put the rares in for somethign to do; its an MMO, but more .. its the catch up mechanism to the current bottom of tier; you do the superbloom and get a bunch of ilvl 441/whatever so you feel good, but really its getting you ready for the new m+ etc, thats all.
