Love how you encourage people and explain that sometimes it takes a while to wrap our heads around certain things(fashion or life)! Glad you brought up the topic of "fast fashion" stores, they are criticized all the time but the point you made for those who are in the journey of trying new things they are the perfect place to go to. By the way I want to mention one thing, sometimes when we try on things that may be out of our comfort zone we either feel it or not however most of the time what discourage us is the thoughts of "what are they going to think or say". People will always have an opinion but if you are feeling it doesn't make their opinion right, so keep that in mind. Thanks for making great videos!

I think I've always have had a somewhat sense of style which I inherited from my Mom but since subbing to your channel a few months back you have helped me step up my game and think outside the box even more. Love this video! I've bought clearance / outlet / fast fashion items to experiment with new looks too, it's a great strategy. Definitely smarter than the times I've dropped serious $$ only to realize I don't like the look.

I’m turning 60 but I’m super fit and not even that grey. That said love the advice and your style, be your age but be dignified and your guide is great.
I’ve recently subscribed to your channel and I feel like it was godsend! I’m 45 and it’s been a long journey but I’ve started to really care about my appearance. I want to reflect how I am/feel by the way I dress. Not too sure of my style but I’d go with casual since I don’t hit the nightlife and introverted for the most part. The hard part is what looks good on me. Goin to watch more of your videos. So much info in a short amount of time. Thanks again for having a great channel. It’s what TH-cam should be about! I appreciate your work. I’m 5’9 170lbs 40yo Asian shaved head, I find it challenging to find my fashion style. I’m learning so much from your channel and gentswithin (Khoi). More power to you!
Every single point you brought up was so accurate. From starting slow to shopping at Nordstram Rack. Just last night I discovered them online and was going crazy with all the quality stuff I could get much cheaper.
As for starting out slow that too is key. What really helped me at first was throwing out my old stuff. It was difficult at first but I had to be honest with myself and come to terms that those items I just wasn't wearing. Next, I color codeed my closet. This is huge because it allows you to see exactly what you have and what colors are missing.
Then I bought my first pair of white sneakers and from there just bought basics. Nothing flashy. I'm still in the beginning phases of updating my wardrobe but can tell that these small adjustments really do work.

Great advice! I use H&M for that very purpose .... Bought some bright, patterned sneakers on sale last year for like $15. They needed some insoles, but they're now one of my most-complimented pieces and I'll be upgrading to some quality Frye leather sneakers this year.

Good advice, John. I have been at this since the 1980s and there’s only one way to achieve it and that’s to take it slowly. Don’t rush what you don’t understand. Research everything and read books by authors like Alan Flusser and others who have been doing this for many decades.

Another great topic! I only began getting interested in fashion in the last few years. It has taken a lot of experimentation to find my style. I have never tried fashion sneakers with chinos even though I think it looks good every time I see it. I’m going to try it the next time my wife and I go out.

This may sound odd, but I base a lot of my personal style on my shoes. I have a huge and rather varied shoe wardrobe. I wear suits to work Mon - Thu, so I usually base my shoes on my suit, but with casual wear I decide what I want to wear by choosing my shoes first, then chose the rest of my outfit off of that. It is amazing how much you can change the tone of your look by changing your shoes. I always lay out my suit, tie and belt, the night before, and the other day I wore a light tan suit to work, and was planning on wearing cream colored suede oxfords, when I got dressed in the morning, I forgot and put on tan monk double monks straps, and quickly remembered the other shoes so I changed into them, it was amazing the difference just the shoes made to the overall look.

I like the whites even though they are not "minimalist". Minimalist refers to "Paleo" shoes like Vibram but I get your point.

Congratulations on 100K really like your advice I have my own style but I am always willing to look at other suggestions, however since I am 61 I know certain styles will not work as they will not look right, white sneakers for example, I prefer classic shoes and boots, I have a green pair of Converse that I picked up in Santa Monica when we had a vacation and they work. 👍😀

The first time i wore a chino...it felt like i was moving around naked with no pants on but this is something that you have to allow to then to grow unto you and this is applicable to any other style entity that u r not familiar with.It will take some time and the confidence to build up.

You know your programs are refreshing. Your geared toward us older gentlemen and your open minded in your advice and suggestive, based on current styles. Saying what you said here, find what works for you...but oh by the way some of those things have been out of style for years, try this. Aside from that you know what it takes to look appropriate for the occasion. This is refreshing and why I enjoy your programs and RMRS. Your practical advice is just that. You don't push high dollar attire, or trendy outfits, or rules...you respect those of us who have been around long enough to know how to dress so to speak. Yet you provide the insight of what is current and what works together so we don't look like we are stuck in a time capsule from 40 years ago lol. That there is a way to look up to date and yet not look like a 20 year old... keep up the good work...
