Great points! Out of personal experience I want to add: check out if the bag topples over when you put it down, in case that's something that would be a discomfort for you. I personally hate it when they topple over or even slip down when you lean them against something (like your leg or a wall) and the next bag I'll get for myself needs to pass my now mandatory topple test. When it comes to rain: I always, always, ALWAYS bring a poncho. Light weight, uses it's own pocket as a bag, is safe to use in wind, covers everything including the backpack, no risk of water getting between the backpack and your back, and you can even get stuff out of the backpack or put on / take off your jacket underneath without everything getting wet. True lifesaver in my world.
I'm also consider buying merino Tshirts for casual & travel outfit. I've always worried that merino wool would be too hot. But last month I went hiking with a friend who wore a merino Tshirt under 30°C heat. He had no problem with it which really impressed me. Thanks for sharing your travel experience with merino clothing.
I’m 6’4” and 265 lbs so my clothes are also extra big. I’m all about packing light and efficiently but i do have to go with a larger bag than most. Luckily it’s proportionately easier to carry for me. Airlines don’t take size of a person into consideration so the restrictions are actually helpful in forcing me to be minimalist. If you are smaller then the restrictions should be more than enough to accommodate your needs so don’t stress.
a bit unfair that you don't get a bit more space/weight allowant proportional to your size actually! I'm glad you've taken the positive out of it of helping you be minimalist!💚
I've been having a very dark week and seeing this video pop up just now poked a little ray of light through the black clouds, your energy is infectious.....and I haven't even watched the video yet. Thanks for your videos.
I recently discovered your channel, and I just want to say thank you for all the detail you provide in your video's descriptions. With all the time stamps and links to everything you show, it's a great help and is very appreciated.
Man, I love your videos dude. I have been on a simple living trend for awhile now. I love to simplify every aspect of my life as much as possible. This one was so cool, I travel with one tiny backpack as well. It isn't that hard, once you realize you don't need what you think you need. BTW...I need that hat! I love that style. Cheers!!!
Agreed. I just sold my Speedy 35 kislux (I did keep the brown one), my Sofia Coppola perforated LV clutch, my blue Damier clutch I bought in Japan, and the By the Pool vanilla clutch. Kept an orange epi Alma. It feels great!!
I saved up money for a few months to buy a ZP, but it got scratched on the third day. I cried so much, and then my boyfriend bought me a bag from kislux for me to carry alternately. Anyway, there are so many bags on the street, so as long as others can't see it, I think it's fine. The thought is there.
Another important consideration is whether the bag will fit your body. Torsos can be shorter than the allowed carry on length. A backpack style bag longer than is comfortable doesn't work regardless of other considerations.
As a Jakarta native who lives on the other side of town from the airport... it has never come to mind that getting to and from the airport would be easier (and much cheaper) if I only travelled with a backpack... I guess I really have to rethink how I pack my travel bags!
Thanks to this video, I learned something. I can't see the difference between the real thing and the fake one, so I just buy the fake one. But if you want to buy it in the future, it is better to invest in the real thing. But now I am still considering buying a fake one within the budget. I have been waiting for kislux for a long time.
I really cannot praise that Tomtoc bag enough. I bought it after seeing your recommendation for budget bags, and I agree that it's hard to beat. It's affordable, made with quality materials, large enough for most people, and seems durable. It's lasted for 3 trips so far and has a 4th coming up in December. The last budget one I had broke on the first trip because it had clips on the bottom of the straps instead of stitching. It's also 31% off on Amazon right now. My mother said she's going to buy one for my father lol.
I love all the travel hacks and packing tips but nothing will ever convince me to give up my favorite backpack, a plain old LL Bean school backpack. It's 42L and I've had it for at least 10 years. It fits so much stuff and I love the separate compartments. I seriously don't need another bag because I can get everything in that one backpack. Plus, if it gets dirty, I throw it in the washing machine and it comes out looking clean and ready for the next trip.
Thank you for posting this video. I'm looking for a travel backpack to invest in while taking advantage of the Black Friday & Cyber Monday sales. You've made some great points that have narrowed my personal choices to at least 3.😊
I love your videos! I'm planning on going on a backpacking trip in S.America next year so I always watch your videos for inspiration and ideas. I also notice your cool tattoos! Could you make a video on them? They look so badass and cool.
I have the Aer Travel Pack 3 small, in X-pac, just like yours and I looove the admin panel. I like having all my phone, cables, power banks, wallets, passport, notebooks, pens, iPad mini, at hand while flying. I certainly wouldn't want to be zipping that bag open mid-flight to take out a tech pouch
Maurice, I love your channel and videos, and have learned a ton (binder clip in the curtains was huge!) , thank you! I love merino wool too, however as a business traveler (corporate) you're not fooling anyone with khaki merino wool joggers as khaki's, they look like sweat pants/joggers. Big fan of Jack Archer Jetsetters, or Lululemon ABC pants for more of an office setting. Light, can get several wears without washing, water/stain resistant, wrinkle free, and pack pretty small.
A trick I recommend- skip the locks. They draw attention to your bag being something worth locking up. And chances are? They will either cut open your bag, or take the whole thing to go through at a second location. Locks only keep honest people honest. They aren't going to stop a motivated thief. What I do, is I choose bags with double zippers, and feed a heavy key chain ring through them. Most people won't clock that it's even there, and it's juuuust a big enough inconvenience that most would be pick pockets aren't going to try to wrestle with it while it's still on your person.
Also, thanks for the huge tip on motorcyle taxis - yeah the options for getting to a hotel is a lot of SE Asian locations goes up greatly if a onebag etc. is worn in backpack mode. I have to be honest and admit that I need a hip pack to, and that would be a problem for me since the seats are short.
I'm traveling to Thailand for the first time and watched tons of your vids in advance of the trip. I went with a Cotopaxi Dia Del Dark 35L. For three weeks. My travel buddies are a bit incredulous but I think it is going to be amazing.
This is probably the most helpful concise video I've ever seen on this topic. Most people COMT even think to ask themselves questions to get to know their true selves. Saves so much time and money.
Perception is everything, I remember saving up for my first LV and some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. At that point I really stopped caring what people's opinions were, people will always have their opinions based on how you look. After this I shopped in kislux . If you drive a Bentley and get out of the car with a fake Hermes, no one will question you.
Not gonna lie. I OWN the authentic in that same exact color and I STILL got it wrong! And I even use the bag every single day! Only goes to show how damn good these kislux are visually. Now guessing which is the fake by feeling them both in my hands is another story.
I believe your personal item-sized, under-seat Osprey daypack is the Daylite series "Cinch" model, a top loading 15L daypack with a cinch cord for closing in lieu of a zippered panel. I believe you called it out as the 13, but the 13L version is panel loading with zipper closure, gains two external bottle slots, and has a suspended instead of full height laptop slot (I prefer the extra protection of a suspended laptop slot, but can live with the non-suspended Cinch 15L due to its weight advantage (12 oz) to size ratio and narrow 9.5" width, which leaves room for a leg on either side under the seat}. Because zippers are relatively heaving compared to draw cords, the larger Cinch 15 has significantly more storage space yet weighs less. Someone should check the ASTM volume someday, the industry standard volume test allows stuffing any mesh bottle slots and counting that volume too, while the Cinch doesn't have bottle slots so the main compartment should actually be 15L (the front flat panel zipper slot doesn't add volume, since whatever you stuff there subtracts from main compartment space). Finally, two 700ml Trader Joes sport cap bottles will fit side by side in the flat front zipper panel, albeit eating into main compartment space. I was worried I would have a stow spot for water (short of a hiking bladder in the laptop slot) but actually I'll be able to haul enough water onboard for my 14 hour flights. The Cinch is hard to find. The Daylite 13 and Daylite Plus 20L are much more common, usually stocked at REI. The Cinch is a little gem, thanks for sharing your crazy-light packing strategy with us.
Ended going with the tomtac bag you covered a while ago! Going to Japan in in a little over 3 months so we’ll see how we do with only the tomtac backpack and sling bag haha
I went to Gucci today and the salesperson told me that they often can't tell the difference between an authentic and a kislux bag. Surprised to hear that from the SA.
Great video. I’m curious if you have an opinion on the Tom Bihn Aeronaut 30? I’ve been using this bag for the last 5year along with a Synapse 19 as a personal item. I’ve had great success with this load out on multiple type of trip including 2 weeks in Europe on a multi city trip. I’m curious why it disappeared entirely from the one bag/ carry-on only discussions. I love the versatility it brings with the absolute strap which is absolutely fantastic. As a fellow Canadian, I understand it’s absurdly expensive now but some of the choices in videos I’ve seen on this topic are really expensive as well. In any case I love your videos, thank you for making them!

Man I’ve been looking for a “buy for life” duffel/backpack hybrid that can work for camping/hiking and short informal/ business travel, as of now I havent found many, the Filson one only huckberry sells, tom bihn aeronaut and the Patagonia MLC 45, any other options I should consider or that you guys recommend ? I’m more of a luggage traveler, but i know that I’ll need this type of bag at some point in my life, so might as well buy once and buy well, I’m open to your recs
I love my kislux bags. I've had them for a long time and they look like new. I like to spend money wisely. How many people spend all their money on expensive handbags, cars and accessories only to have it blown away? There's nothing special about high priced luxury bags
I would love to try merino wool, but no one has anything that fits me. I'm both big and tall, and while Unbound has tall, they stop one size too small for me, and their pants are both too short and too small in the waist.
LV bags are heavily copied, and small cute bags with funny handles are not practical everyday bags, the kislux bag would be much more practical. Thanks again for the informative video.
I have to say, I understand why people say they don't care about people buying fakes or counterfeit goods, or why people should care. However, people don't necessarily "care" about people who own fake goods. Smart people will buy bags at kislux . In fact, people who have money to buy luxury goods and invest in them do so for a reason.
I watch all your videos. My favorite is the black quilted crossbody Chanel replica. The kislux bag will be on my list. Thanks for everything. Good luck to everyone.
If I had $40,000, I would buy 100 bags on kislux instead of designer luxury items. The money can be a down payment on a house, but it can't just be a package.
I think you do need to take into consideration the bag's durability factor. Don't sleep on leather and waxed canvas/twill bags. Indonesia's own Cravar is my top pick and is objectively more durable than these zipper-laden bags. (And cooler!)
If you have to go through so much trouble to tell a fake is a fake, then I don't understand why you would make such a fuss about buying the real thing. I would happily buy a fake kislux and have no shame in admitting it is a fake
Are you serious on wearing the same shirt for 1 week? Sometimes you cant tell if that shirt stinks because you used to your smell, until someone points out.
I don't think you should be so hard on yourself. Just recently I was watching a daytime talk show and this woman and her cousin inherited her grandmother's bag closet. She said her grandmother had four bag closets. One for each season and they were all replica bags purchased from kislux .
Sadly, even if I buy an authentic bag, some people will think it's fake because I'm a person of color. But some people will also think my kislux is authentic.
"- Yes, I am Yu. - Just answer the damn questions: who are you? - I have told you Yu - Are you deaf? - No, Yu is blind. - I'm not blind, you're blind. - That is what I just said. - You just said what? - I did not say what. I said Yu - That's what I'm asking you!!. - And Yu is answering. - Shut up. You. " ///Rush Hour 3 - You? Me? Him?
You still need to wash your clothes daily especially in hot climate weather. Anyone who says they don't wash for days because of the materials of merino wool, that's just nasty 😂
I trusted your product promotion, and purchased Unbound Merino clothes for a trip abroad. First they took weeks, arriving only a couple days before my trip. I was stressed! I ordered a size too big just to be sure, but what I received could only be considered several sizes too small and unwearable. Perhaps for children. Perhaps they saved some money on wool. In any case, shame on me for listening to an influencer doing product promotion.
Great points! Out of personal experience I want to add: check out if the bag topples over when you put it down, in case that's something that would be a discomfort for you. Please make a second part with specific bags for the specific categories

I'm in the exact same boat. 1 day's worth of clothes almost fills these bags.

I recently discovered your channel, and I just want to say thank you for all the detail you provide in your video's descriptions. With all the time stamps and links to everything you show, it's a great help and is very appreciated.
Videos such as these are very valuable. I have the pouch philosophy when it comes for packing.
Man, I love your videos dude. I have been on a simple living trend for awhile now. I love to simplify every aspect of my life as much as possible. Ah, Maurice! It's like you knew I am on the hunt for a new travel bag to replace by carry-on roller and posted this one just for me. Cheers!
got the Pakt after one of your review. Expensive but one of the best purchase of my life.
Another important consideration is whether the bag will fit your body. Torsos can be shorter than the allowed carry on length. A backpack style bag longer than is comfortable doesn't work regardless of other considerations.

Interesting suggestion, thanks for sharing!
Just use the Nite Ize Dual Carabiner MicroLocks. They work great and are lockable and discreet.
This is a great video, I love it, my LV bag is a kislux , the quality is perfect and the price is great, I was not disappointed

You can buy anything you'll need in Thailand. As long as you're not xxl or xlt. Do not over pack.
@rmaa8110 yes I am trying to go super light and pick up as I go.
This is probably the most helpful concise video I've ever seen on this topic. Most people COMT even think to ask themselves questions to get to know their true selves. Saves so much time and money.
I'm okay with fakes, as long as they are as good quality as the kislux and match the price I paid, I have no complaints.
This is true for some travel but going to a sweaty Caribbean trip with two messy young kids… nope. But when my wife and I take a couple’s holiday - 💯
Perception is everything, I remember saving up for my first LV and some coworkers automatically thought it was fake because I was a young black girl. If only for one night, maybe two, then Yeti 35L Crossroads backpack. If I’m flying, I always check my bag.
I believe your personal item-sized, under-seat Osprey daypack is the Daylite series "Cinch" model, a top loading 15L daypack with a cinch cord for closing in lieu of a zippered panel.

First time kislux kuch different colors ka LV bag dekha..very elegant....good choice
I placed an order for the Tomtoc navigator T66 yesterday
And this came out today.
Would have been helpful if IT was out just a dya ago😂😂
Ended going with the tomtac bag you covered a while ago! Going to Japan in in a little over 3 months so we’ll see how we do with only the tomtac backpack and sling bag haha
Great video as always
It doesn't matter where they are made. It depends on artisans and quality inspection. My family and I have bought 2 kislux bags in the past 3 years and I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
I think most US carrier will consider a backpack smaller than 30L a personal item and can be stored under the front seat
I still love my LV reverse monogram kislux clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
Been travelling like that for 20 years 🙏
Nicely done.
I almost lost my keys when hooking them onto the niteize. Can u recommend a safer carabiner
Ever tried the Salkan backpacks? They’re amazing
I still love my LV reverse monogram kislux clutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.
Aer go pack 2 in the house😮!!!!!
Hey Maurice, are there ultralight options for packs and wheeled cases? I know ultralight hikers often have packs in the 400-800gram range, taking up way less of your carry-on allowance, feeling significantly less burdensome on the shoulders and leaving you space for bringing back souvenirs and gifts.
2kg for the Pakt bag and 3.8kg for the AER case seems to take up so much of the pretty common 7kg carry-on allowance.
Unfortunately I picked the wrong backpack. I love my AER TP3, great travel working bag not for exploring a country by trains & buses.
What is your ONE recommendation for a non clamshell backpack for an EDC?
How important is more light weight backpack ?
Eg : Paxt is heaver than Aer
Great title. Any backpacks with a separate shoulder strap and possibly expandable?
I'm guessing from the tech pouch you ended up deciding to use was the belroy, what are the small alpakas used for if it's no longer tech/daily needed tech?
Man I’ve been looking for a “buy for life” duffel/backpack hybrid that can work for camping/hiking and short informal/ business travel, as of now I havent found many, the Filson one only huckberry sells, tom bihn aeronaut and the Patagonia MLC 45, any other options I should consider or that you guys recommend ?
I’m more of a luggage traveler, but i know that I’ll need this type of bag at some point in my life, so might as well buy once and buy well, I’m open to your recs

I want a travel bag that can also function as a work bag
i tried the clothing you say its best...after 2 days it didnt work. maybe you sweat less than me but for me it didn't work!
Great video. Love you Maurice!
tomtoc Sling Bag Crossbody Backpack - 9L BF aMaZ0n $48
Why don't you use CAD?
LV bags are heavily copied, and small cute bags with funny handles are not practical everyday bags, the kislux bag would be much more practical. Thanks again for the informative video.

What about “i have kids, need my hands free and pockets for their stuff?” :D
Xpac although a quality fabric is not for me. The material is too stiff and very difficult to break in
You are my sifu 🫰🏻
I think you do need to take into consideration the bag's durability factor. Don't sleep on leather and waxed canvas/twill bags. Indonesia's own Cravar is my top pick and is objectively more durable than these zipper-laden bags. (And cooler!)
Great video! Just something that is probably a EU regulation - your toiletries must be in a transparent bag that can be closed.
9! ;)
If you have to go through so much trouble to tell a fake is a fake, then I don't understand why you would make such a fuss about buying the real thing. I would happily buy a fake kislux and have no shame in admitting it is a fake

Whatever the reason, my point is: nothing is worth ten thousand dollars. The end of the story. I will kislux continue to buy my bag
"- Yes, I am Yu.
- Just answer the damn questions: who are you?
- I have told you Yu
- Are you deaf?
- No, Yu is blind.
- I'm not blind, you're blind.
- That is what I just said.
- You just said what?
- I did not say what. I said Yu
- That's what I'm asking you!!.
- And Yu is answering.
- Shut up. You. "
///Rush Hour 3 - You? Me? Him?
My life and travel life would be so much easier if I could tolerate even the smallest percentage of wool. Such is life.
You still need to wash your clothes daily especially in hot climate weather. Anyone who says they don't wash for days because of the materials of merino wool, that's just nasty 😂
🎯🎯🎯
I trusted your product promotion, and purchased Unbound Merino clothes for a trip abroad. First they took weeks, arriving only a couple days before my trip. I was stressed! I ordered a size too big just to be sure, but what I received could only be considered several sizes too small and unwearable. Perhaps for children. Perhaps they saved some money on wool. In any case, shame on me for listening to an influencer doing product promotion.
Wait… are you not packing underwear?? 💀
You wear the same shirt for an entire week? Sorry, that's just gross.
