I used to work in STC lab, thus due to the nature of my job I have minimize interactions with the riders and horse owners. However we still see each other faces in the staff canteen, and somewhat will know each other. Practically I have seen everyone interviewed in this video before daily at one point of my life...it really pains my heart to see them going through this, a lot of them have spend their whole life and youth here. This is really wrong....

As 2nd & 3rd Generation Living Victim of PAP’s Induced Terrorism on my Parents & subsequently our Family, I can understand Methew’s Predicament…Consider doing Taxi , GRAB etc … PAP’s Unwritten Retirement Program… Work till Knock Yourself Out 😊

As a 3rd generation Singaporean, I saw that my grandpa was able to withdraw all his CPF and place the funds in the bank for higher interest and carefully manage spending till now. I also saw that how some had their CPF spurted over a short period of time.
My parents started working with an entry salary of $190 then, at the age of 55, after setting aside the full retirement sums, the remaining funds in their OA+SA are more than $300k, on top of two fully paid properties.
With the same government, why are some able to accumulate enough for retirement and some can't?! The answer is obvious! 😝

After 50 years of rule - uninterrupted - the PAP has failed to develop sustainable (population growth, education and economic development) policies that will enable locals to drive our economy, that is, creating jobs and attracting investments, with foreigners playing a complementary role. Instead, the situation has been turned on it head. Foreigners are now the main force behind our economy and Singaporeans are playing the supporting role. Lees’ words, not mine. Dr Chee Soon Juan

All this has had a pointed effect on local wages and job opportunity. Take, for instance, PM Lee’s recent lament of the shortage of engineers in Singapore. The problem has become so acutre that we have had to engage Swedish and Japanese engineers to help us figure out what’s causing the interminable breakdowns of our MRT system. Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan even exhorted our train operators to look to Taipei to emulate the reliability of its rail system.
At the risk of belabouring the point, how did we come to this after 50 years of PAP rule?

Singapore is long known as a soulless country
    Why?
Because when places are torn down activities will end and people will have one less place and things to do and once developments and new buildings are built up on these lands all the human focus will go into the repayment and mortgage of these properties.
This is what is known as the loss of soul in a place. Because people won't be able to visit and do things on the land. People will just work and pay for their houses instead.

to be fair, one should upskill themselves and prepare for the unforeseen future. you can't live your life full of commitments like family, house, several children to feed and rely upon horse racing as the one-for-all financial stability.
it's a risky sport with potential life debilitating injuries. either you make it big like the jockeys in HK whose prize money suffice for their whole life. when you're not at that level especially at 44 yo, it's not wise to say things like how it's your dream job and how things should always work in your favor, or how you have a family and you can't split with them. That's already an entitled mentality.
Alot of us work overseas and split with our family too. How many Malaysians are working in Singapore as example ? How many people are made redundant during lay-offs.
You shouldn't live life like it's going to be same all the time. That STC will exist forever and that you can ride all your way until retirement while hardly winning any races. That's not in alignment with your "i've trained all my life with dedication... "
All of us have a dream job. We may all want to be hollywood A listers and famous youtuber who may earn 100k in one livestream. Then no one will wipe toilets and floor.
When you say something like "this i all i know", that's already a loser mentality. I can't say that for jerlyn since she's still young and can acquire different skillsets.
Don't you plan for your future or you just live your entire life thinking horse racing is a permanent solution for your financial stability ?

All people live in a fallen, corrupted and broken world, but what I cannot understand about Singaporeans are why are Singaporeans still voting for the pap and LHL when the pap gives their own white shirt kind $1 million per year and big house per year and DISREGARDS common poor and middle income Singaporeans, while only quietly shoving back to each Singaporean or individual $300 to $400 gst cash per year only.
Lee hsien loong is already, 72 years old, and he is not even in a fit physical or mental health to be the leader.
Lawrence Wong, likewise is also already 51 years old, his runway is not very long if he ever becomes the next leader of Singapore. He will only have 10 or 11 years to rule, depending on the peoples approval and trust of him to handle Singapore, before LW is in his 60s.
It is time for Singaporeans to STOP being dumb and crazy and to STOP voting for the pap and lhl but to vote for only the oppositions.

Ya, let opposition rule, so that you don't have to pay GST, the government can just dig into the reserve. When the funds are depleted, just print more money, then S$ devalue, then pay more for imported necessities, then costs of living go higher, then spend lesser, then more businesses winding up, then the economy deteriorate, then real unemployed increase, then more can't afford to own houses, let alone car, then property values & car prices will drop but still can't afford, then people are more unhappy, then the country become unstable, then foreign investors & foreigners will leave, then more properties are unoccupied, then property values will drop further ... but don't worry, the rich can migrate to other countries, the poor can go overseas to work as construction workers & domestic helpers!😝

  • @lamjianyuan

To everyone who sees this comment, 1 year or 2 years from now before the next general election in 2025, Singaporeans need to start to smarten up and STOP voting for the pap, just because the pap uses people psychology to win the hearts and minds of Singaporeans, and just because the pap and lhl gave Singaporeans puny carrots(small money) and blackmailing Singaporeans with small peanuts GST monies.
