The Galant estate was known as the Legnum in Japan. They are not identical though. The tailgate is different for both pre and post facelift, but most importantly the roof is a few inches higher. I have an EUDM Galant estate and it's probably the best car I've ever owned
Interestingly...Only Volvo still makes a modern equivalent to that 850R these days.The V60 T5.Mitsubishi no longer makes any performance wagons.Subaru makes the Levorg(?).And Nissan,like Mitsubishi,also has no performance wagons. :-/
And more importantly,Volvo still makes em...Though better be quick.They planning to go hybrid,then electric.Fire breathing wagons like the V60R might also be gone soon.Subaru makes the Levorg but...All reviews I read about it gives me doubts... :-/
I knew that a legnum VR4 is faster than a legacy wagon during a 1/4 mile I didn't expect it to be faster than a Stagea and a Volvo 850R. but then again both the Stagea and Legacy can be modified but the legnum not so much. And I didnt expect it to win the 5 lap tsukuba battle.
Only thing better than the Legnum would be the Evo 9 wagon...But that's a limited edition beast...I think only 3 were ever sold in my country... :-o :-(
@@djteneyez Legnum was auto too. 5 speed manual Legnum are .5 sec quicker in the sprints, but are rare. Not sure about Stegea had a manual transmission availible
Nissan would have doubled their stagea sales if they had come out with Skyline r32/33 front end from factory. Instead, they somehow thought .... ‘let’s make this the ugliest front fascia that has ever been produced”. Great idea Nissan.
Fuji Wags a the only issue with that is it’s not a skyline wagon. They had the r31 wagon but that didn’t sell very well so I’d assume they thought it would be the same way. the C in the vin “WGNC34” is the letter for the Nissan Laurel which was more of a luxury car as opposed to the skyline which was primarily their sports car. The stagea was designed to be a luxury estate wagon. But I think a stagea with an r32/33 front end would look better. Not a fan of the r34 front end swap. Makes it look like a Chevy uplander
How Mitsubishi decided to release the worse new car in the Mirage and still sell them 10 years later is a disgrace. Current Mitsubishi management are a soulless mess.

The 850R was my first choice before I decided to go with the Stagea. Nonetheless, all awesome cars in this lineup.

Subaru still has the Outback! In Japan, they produced a Legacy wagon until 2020, it's just the Outback wagon there too. (Sold as Legacy Outback IIRC)
Subaru puts nice engines in their Outback and liberty. As well as the levorg

Legnum VR4 can have optionally Brembo brakes, would make a difference to lap times.

legacy needs to be single turbo'd before it can go anywhere legnum can only really have bolt on's like exhaust etc
Modified Dynasty true you cant do much to them but the good thing is that it is easier to find an unmolested one.
I looked at the Legnum, but got a Stagea instead because of the Rb26
Same could be said for the legacy to a certain extent. There isn't a lot of support for the legacy twin turbo setup
