  • Johan Norberg states the case for capitalism and the role played by the free market in today’s world. A move away from this, he argues, would not only squeeze the growth out of the economy, but also deepen the exclusion of the most vulnerable.

He's confused between Capitalism and a Free Market. - A Free Market fuels competition, which is usually price competition, which is good provided you don't sacrifice standards or delivery. - Capitalism is an enabler, whatever it enables, good or bad.

Is ‘Socialism’ a system of yesterday? Has it ever been tried????

'Share The Wealth'. -OB said. Now, even though I've heard that phrase growing up in the 80's & 90's it never hit me that it means Socialism. I guess He was truly the 1st socialist president. Even though nobody said it.

At 7:50 he says total carbon dioxide emissions in 2020 by 6%, which is international.
Now I had a look at US, EU, China and India from ChatGPT, what I got:
The Rhodium Group reported that U.S. CO2 emissions dropped by approximately 10.3% in 2020 compared to 2019 levels. This reduction was mainly attributed to decreases in transportation and industrial emissions.
European Environment Agency (EEA): The EEA reported a 10% decrease in CO2 emissions across the European Union in 2020 compared to the previous year. This reduction was attributed to declines in transportation and industrial activities as a result of pandemic-related restrictions.
Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA): According to CREA, China's CO2 emissions fell by approximately 25% in February 2020 compared to the same period in the previous year. This estimate reflects the immediate impact of lockdown measures on industrial activity, transportation, and energy consumption.
Centre for Research on Energy and Clean Air (CREA) reported that India's CO2 emissions fell by approximately 15% in April 2020 compared to the same month in the previous year.
So US 10%, EU 10%, China 25% and India 15%. Also Russia is unclear but 10% to 20%
I don't know how the 6% happens globally, but if looking at it by country it was A LOT of carbon dioxide reduction, so yes we should do degrowth.
And also this is mainly due to transportation. People required to heat their homes and use electricity, if we relied more on renewables for instance, then this percentage would drop even lower.

This was very informative. Capitalism offers the best Hope for humanity. Two generations have been indoctrinated into socialism. How do we educate the Y & Z's so My Alpha child doesn't end up living in '1984'.

Problem is not how to educate the young generation, problem is to look at yourself and ask yourself, why are you buying this bullshit. Chinese model is working far superior than the US model and it has became obvious over the last 5 years that we need to change, not China. Pretty words doesn't change that and what happened also when China was extremely poor is irrelevant.
