I’ll have some more on this mower. The grass cut here was quite a spongy buffalo that I cut mainly the leaf off. If you have anything you’d like me to cover on this mower, let me know.
What would you rate it sound wise? I mean is it loud for a battery operated mower? Just curious it sounds kinda loud but hard to tell over the camera mic 🎤
@turfandtools no probs for the late reply mate I was just curious as I've used the Victa 82v and found it to be quiet so they're probably around the same noise level
I have an Ozito just like this, but self-propelled it's fantastic mowes my 600 sq meter lawn with battery power left. It's much better than my past petrol mowers.
Hey mate, i dont have this mower, but all my tools are Ozito. I think they are great for the average Joe getting stuck into their DIY work! Plus 5 year warranty!
I have the older 36V version. Plastic everything, but still pretty good. I bought it second hand to test the concept a few years ago and it's great. A tip - keep the blade sharp and the batteries will last a lot longer on a charge. I just touch mine up with a flap disc on an angle grinder as required. I'm probably going to sell my 6.5hp Honda mower, which is an awesome contractor grade machine, but overkill and really heavy in comparison.
Great review. Got mine 6 weeks ago and have only had to use it once in anger. Loved how light it is. Only used one bar on the batteries too. I've just donated my 1998 model Rover, with the Suzuki 2 stroke motor, to a local men's shed. Had it from new! Was as old as my adult son. Now no fumes, fuel-oil mix, filter, spark plug or pull start. One problem with the Ozito. The front curved plate and rear plastic infill, around the sweep of the blade, is digging into the grass when going along a hump with the wheels either side. It really seemed to dig in. I'll have to look at it before I mow next.
I love this mower, it's a simple design yes but doesn't skip a beat. 5yr replacement warranty means I'm paying $100 a year for a mower that does the job very adequately. Great buy.
Purchased this model Ozito in January for my small lawn. Works perfectly for the size Kikuyu lawn and battery’s last 3-4 mows between charging. Love your videos.
I purchased the smaller version with one 18v battery a year ago for around $230. It's been fabulous for my basic-sized house lawn and nature strip. Being a tiny older woman it works a treat, lightweight and easy to use. The battery needs to recharge between doing the front lawn and then the small backyard & nature strip, which suits me cause so do I 😄 But it only takes about an hour, so all good. Was well worth the money as now I save $100 a month for a lawn guy & my clippings get picked up instead of blown around by him 😁 I do mow every 2 weeks so it doesn't make it too hard to get through the growth also.
Ive got one and love it , Had it for 2 years now and haven't had a problem, Ive cut wet grass and did a lawn reno with it , It has a boost that if it struggles on long grass , Its is light and easy to move around compared to a heavy petrol mower , You can get a self-propelled one that has a mulcher , There is spear parts you can buy for them to at your local bunnings store,
Thanks Matt for the review on the OzzyToe mower. It actually did better than I thought it was going to do. I kept waiting for it to just give up in the thicker stuff...
I've had one of these for 2 years and goes really well. I only have to charge the batteries after about the 3rd mow and takes about an hour to charge both batteries.
Bought this exact kit when my petrol Toro Recycler engine died. Have a heap of Ozito gear already so plenty of batteries already but the 2 x 4Ah and dual charger is a great inclusion. I'm not a lawn fanatic - edged and reasonably short is where it's at for me. Thicker stuff it kicks into drawing more power to get through it - and it does. Can do my front and most of the back on 1 charge. Does a nice quality of cut. Best thing is maintenance - new blade every 2 years and that's it! Have used it without catcher just the back flap down - on shorter cut height or thinner grass is fine. 5 year warranty is great also. Keep in mind it's a light-duty mower and you'll be fine. Got thick grass or want to chop a lot in one pass get a petrol mower.
Well I have had one for 3 years my first one lasted 4 months so took it back the current one has been fine I have manage to cut mine lawn and next door with one charge find it hard going on wet grass but happy with preferment and would say for the price great mower I ran a lawn mowing company for many years and had a lot of mowers but for standard lawn this surprised it’s not a bad price the battery’s are still operating fine
Hi mate iv just purchased this mower and was told by a very knowledgeable guy at Bunnings !, that you must hold the red button down for 3 seconds before pulling the starting bar ! That gives it time to do its quick safety readings of the batteries before it starts up !! He doesn't understand why its not mentioned in the manual ? as he said its a very important feature before starting the mower ! He was saying they are constantly getting customers bringing the mower back saying it wont start ! and hes always showing them this starting process ! Im very happy with the results after cutting my lawns that were quite thick and still had plent of juice left in the batteries ! Cheers for your Video Tim regards Rob
Was waiting for you to expose the business end , the number of blades and type of blade setup , also missed the diameter of cut . The demo video was good especially you marching briskly with it and proving it's endurance. Hearing the OZIO echo of many happy customers in the comments which is good for Ozito , considering their Budget price range , it's a winner.
Yes, we are 75 yo and had been using a self propelled John Deer. I have in the last two years got rid of all my petrol appliances and bought Ozito battery everything. The mower is great, light and powerful. Oh yeah, my wife does all the mowing. As far as the catcher goes, if she does not want to use the catcher I just tie the flap up and hang a plastic lunchbox lid of it to protect her legs. Works like a charm......And a five year no questions asked warranty, Winner winner..
I bought a 3 in 1 Ozito mower, blower and grass trimmer about 5 or 6 years ago from Bunnings for the bargain price of $299. The mower uses two 18v batteries and the blower and grass trimmer uses 1 x 18v battery. My mower is slightly smaller I would say but for the little patch of grass I have it's perfect. Never had a problem with it except had to replace a battery under warranty and bought a couple of new ones since. The grass trimmer uses plastic blades which are a lot easier to replace than line trimmers but when you go up against a fence post they snap pretty quickly. True what you say about the chargers (I have two single chargers) they don't insert and click easily. Overall very happy.
I've got exactly the same (although I bought them separately)... and I love them as well. I also have the hedge trimmer and power secateurs, as well as a drill, which I also use a fair bit. I love the way I can use the same batteries on all of them. The one Ozito product which I *don't* like is the blower/vac, which uses 2 batteries. I thought the vac would be useful for clearing leaves off my roof (I used to use a petrol vac for that) but it's not powerful enough. As well, the stupid bags are hard to put on and take off and they deteriorate and fall apart at the drop of a hat. Now I just use the small, light single battery blower to clean up the yard.
A tiny touch of WD40 spray on the battery and it will glide in & out easily for quite a while. I used to have the same problem with stiff battery insertion and extraction
Just a note on batteries, I run Ozito impact and drill. I've had a 2ah battery for must be about 4 or 5 years now and have not noticed any performance drop off yet. It's infrequent use compared to a mower but same batteries so thought I'd mention it.
You've given the mower a fair run. I do my mowing weekly - for the regular exercise. Like others here have a lot of Ozito. Was looking at this model. On what you have shown us here I would buy one.! Thanks.PS. If you have Ozito batteries already you can get this without the battery pack. Save $100.
Mowing kicks up a lot of microscopic dust, pollen, spores, etc. so if you've got a respirator you may as well use it and keep that stuff out of your lungs. He could also have allergies
I brought my brother a similar model (but plastic) It’s serviceable (it cuts the grass fine) but did break down (electronically) within the warranty period. I wouldn’t really go out of my way to recommend it, nor would I “not” recommend it. It works. Or it did, and I expect Bunnings to honour the warranty. I think this one did exist in 2021 but was hard to come by.
The video is finally here! Were you surprised at it? Aside from the bagging being a bit of an issue, how was the power? Did it automatically adjust speed of is it a '1 speed, go' kind of deal? Keen to see some follow up videos!
@@turfandtoolsto be fair I think most domestic petrol mowers would struggle with the thicker stuff on that lawn! Looked pretty gnarly! Sucks that it doesn't have the option to keep the RPMs up at Max, that's probably why it wasn't collecting the clippings the greatest.. still super interested to see upcoming videos! I'll keep my eyes peeled 👀
I bought the 36v Ryobi mower about 2 years ago for about 700 bucks. I have other Ryobi tools (whipper snipper, blower, hedger) and have noticed the batteries don't last very long. Not as in charge, but in usefulness. On the other hand, I have several hand-held Ozito tools, and the batteries last much longer than Ryobi. I've also had an Ozito drill that I've had about 6 years, and it's going strong. I'd probably consider getting one of these mowers if I had seen a review like this before I bought the Ryobi. Not that there's anything wrong with the Ryobi, but to replace a 4ah Ryobi batter is about $250.
Used to have one of the ozitos which took 4 batteries.. burnt out the safety switch after a year or two of regular work... Warrant was good, money back and over to Ego.
I’m lucky I bought my Ryobi One+ mower when they still had the model which held two 18v batteries inline, giving 36v and powering a 36v motor. I’ve no idea why they stopped producing the model, but all mowers in the One+ range now only have an 18v motor. Even the models which hold two batteries don’t run them in series, meaning that they only use one of the batteries, only ever drawing 18v at a time.
Most of my tools are Makita or Bosch but on occasion, I've needed something for a one off job. I didn't want to pay top price for something I needed once so I bought Ozito. They've got a five year warranty and Bunnings has an excellent returns policy. They felt light but after doing the job, I took a critical look at them. First thing I noticed they seemed to be well thought out and built. Still have them ten years later and I use them as decoys for when someone wants to borrow something. If someone doesn't have the budget and not much work, I think they are just tickety boo for the task. That said, I won't be buying Makita anymore. They've gone downhill since they moved their operation from Mexico to China.
Looking at battery mowers yesterday at Bunnings. Nice! Then I realised that my current mower is going fine, does the job, uses bugger all fuel ( considering ) and, really , the only downside is noise. So, while all my other garden tools are now battery and better for that, I’ll run my mower till it disintegrates.
These models come out around in Australia in 2023. I have got the previous model with the round top and np trouble .I did buy different wheel from bunnings and made bushes and made a better mower
Strange but to me it sounded nosier than I thought an electric mower should be, what decibel is this compared to a petrol mower? but this is hard to determine over TH-cam and where the mic is? I seem to cut ok maybe have 75% width cut each pass may help with filling the bag my thinking good vid keep at it.
I paid au$200 for the bosch 240v mower and au$60 for the ozito 240v edge trimmer and I haven't looked back. no waiting around for batteries to charge for me.
Just me, or did this mower seem louder than the other battery mowers? I realize the thicker grass would make more blade noise, however, I felt like the Stihl, Ego and Greenworks were a lot quieter?
Not bad for an Ozito! 5 year warranty a plus. PS: I’ve always been told to put the handlebar knobs on the inside, that way they don’t get broken if you bump into something. Ask me how I know! 😂
Have had the plug in variety for 6 years.Still going strong and done no maintenance to it at all..Nada! Small lawns yes and was $150.Ozito will surprise you.
Hi Tim love your TH-cam videos am a subscriber. Have had an ozito 36v mower for 5 years hasn't missed a beat and still using original batteries it is a great mower if you mow every 2 weeks. Be kind ozito products are good quality for the price and every one can't afford more expensive tools thanks love your work
I had a Makita dlm432 and it was rubbish on my lawn in my new place. The lawn is really thick. I was going to go back to petrol but thought I'd give an ego a shot. I know what you mean about battery mowers Tim but the ego cuts my lawn like butter. I doubt a petrol mower would be any better.
@@turfandtools Yeah I saw it, just been back and skipped through it again to see what you said (cos I have a memory like a Goldfish). So far the only benefit I see with the Ryobi is the deck won't rot out, but then I clean my tools after every use anyway. Looking forward to seeing what the Ozito can do in other grass types.
I only saw this last night, not realising it was from 7months ago. I have this Ozito PXC 36V Lawn Mower and love it. Compared to the functioning, well maintained 4 stroke mower I did have before giving it away to a family member, this Ozito is so light and Soooo Quiet. I occasionally cut the front lawn for our strata, and the owners of the front villa can't hear me mowing. My only complaint is I wish the front edge of the mower was at least 1cm higher off the ground. If the grass is too tall it tends to grab the grass. As you experienced, the grass areas you cut, and Multiple times, the two 4Ah batteries did their job. Ozito make it clear, their tools are not for the professional. I have a lot of Ozito pxc tools and for someone like me who is a Jack of All Trades, Master of None, they are Ideal.
Nice vid, in devo as I bought the 18v Ryobi HP. Just before this mower came out. The Ryobi wouldn’t even be able to cut grass that high. That ozito mower with a couple of its new 6 or 8amp batteries would do some damage!
I have one of the older Ozito steel decks with self propelled rear wheels. I find that a pair of the 5.2ah (ultra), 6ah or 8ah Battries work significantly better than the standard 4ah. More grunt for longer. Also shame to see that they got rid of the side eject. But for the price point I think its a good mower.
You must hold the red button down for 3 seconds before pulling the starting bar ! That gives it time to do its quick safety readings of the batteries before it starts up !!
I've got the biggest Makita electric mower I could get in the 36V variant. I mowed with it last weekend. I'm mowing again today. I've mowed until the 4 batteries died. Recharged. Mowed again until they died again. I'm currently recharging again. I'm probably a bit over half way done on my quarter acre lawn. It's a corner block with a tonne of frontage which is the real issue. I think it's the self propelled part that smashes the battery power. I've tried just using it as a push mower and it seems to run a lot longer. I'm a bit disappointed overall. My Honda mower isn't that old but it's not running well. I've tried replacing the carby and seals, fresh fuel. Still runs like shit. Spark plug looks brand new and has the correct gap. No idea. I got pissed off and decided to go electric. Now I'm not sure it was the right choice. I've got some bigger batteries on order than are due to arrive today. 9ah ones. See how it goes with those.
I have about 1500 m2 of lawn and used to use a John Deere ride on mower but I got sick of that and got a Stihl robot mower instead. I have a Makita battery mower (2 @ 18 volt) just to run around some edges and tight corners along with a corded Ozito line trimmer and lawns are easy now. I don't know how dense the lawn was in the video but my Makita would not go that fast through grass that length here although I have a fine ryegrass that is hard to cut. I have some other Ozito tools as well and they have always been reliable although all 240 volt.
@@cantablocal6768 I picked up a couple of 9ah batteries to go with the 4x 5ah batteries I already had. I was away on holiday for 3 weeks. Scalped the hell out of the lawn the day before I left. Came back to an absolute jungle. Whipper Snipped all the edges the first day. Then did the back yard using all the batteries the second day. Then did the front on day 3 which used all 6 batteries plus I put the 9ah batteries on charge as soon as they went flat and had to grab them again to finish the mow out front. I also didn't use the self propelled much. Mostly just pushing it to save power. I think my yard is too big for an electric mower unfortunately
I've never had any connection problem - the batteries have little rectangular bars which snap back up into place when inserted on the charger or mower. Those both confirm the battery is seated properly and also hold the battery in place.
If you just want to mow your own yard then battery mowers are all you need. Quiet, light, clean and have more than enough power as demonstrated here . One of the main reasons people have overgrown lawn is they cant start the petrol mower.
Not a terrible cut. I guess being a “man of the land” and a “primary provider” of Sydney’s eggs has taken so much time that the home base lawn is paying the price. 🤣 Careful burning that candle at both ends for too long. You should start to consider some help to maintain this pace. Cheers and thanks for the great content of late. My wife and I are enjoying the chickens.
I'm replying to my own - the one tested is a Ozito PXC 36V (2 x 18V) 460mm Brushless Self-Propelled Steel Deck Lawn Mower 4.0Ah Kit PXBMK-4047SP $599 in Townsville. This is an 18inch deck as opposed to the $399 one which is a 15 inch deck which doesn't have a steel deck. I thought battery mowers were quiet. This is every bit as loud as a petrol mower.!! A steel deck is great. I have had 2 B&S petrol mowers, lovingly cared and maintained which have lasted between 3 and 4 years, so in my perspective not having to buy oil, petrol, air filters, etc over 4 years would be around $200 - $250mark. Suddenly June 2024 Bunnings has the non-self propelled one @ $100 lower $499.00. A Ryobi polymer deck would not last long with twigs, etc
I have another video on this mower here Does the Ozito PXC 36v Battery Lawn Mower Suck???

Nothing beats the ozito bunnings return policy. Feels so good bying tools cheap and knowing that you at least get 5 years of work oit of them.
How to adjust the front tyre. The front get struck in grass and cannot push.

The video is finally here! Were you surprised at it? Aside from the bagging being a bit of an issue, how was the power? Did it automatically adjust speed of is it a '1 speed, go' kind of deal? Keen to see some follow up videos!
Rpm ramps up and down. Like I said in the video, for weekly stuff it’s fine but if you had to cut into the canopy it would be tough.
Tip for new lawns.. Get a palmetto buffalo, no sponge or buildup, good in shade
Interesting. I was surprised at the run time on those 2 little batteries.
Now you’re done with it, can I have it? 😂 been eyeing it off for a while
Used to have one of the ozitos which took 4 batteries.. burnt out the safety switch after a year or two of regular work... Warrant was good, money back and over to Ego.
Did yu ever do the follow-up to this video that you mention at the end? I can't find it on your playlist.
Me too!
If they're wired in series you have 36 V
@ Sorry. That was a typo. I fixed it now
Looking on the Bunnings website they now come with a mulch plug.
can you please post the link?
It's the best choice for your wallet and the environment.
Has the 2nd video review come out yet?
These models come out around in Australia in 2023. I have got the previous model with the round top and np trouble .I did buy different wheel from bunnings and made bushes and made a better mower
Looks quite a good entry level mower Tim…..impressed with the new stone work in the back garden…..did that reduce the issues you had with drainage?
Not my backyard mate. Can understand why you would think it is. They all look the same
I buy ozito before any other product, robust item, and for that type of lawn, that mower did well
Strange but to me it sounded nosier than I thought an electric mower should be, what decibel is this compared to a petrol mower? but this is hard to determine over TH-cam and where the mic is? I seem to cut ok maybe have 75% width cut each pass may help with filling the bag my thinking good vid keep at it.
I tried to buy one last month and was told they’ve been out of stock for quite a while here and no eta on when they were coming in 😅
I paid au$200 for the bosch 240v mower and au$60 for the ozito 240v edge trimmer and I haven't looked back.
no waiting around for batteries to charge for me.
Maybe a different blade might throw the clippings into the catcher better.
Be kind ozito products are good quality for the price and every one can't afford more expensive tools thanks love your work
I’ve owned an Ozito paid $249 battery powered lawnmower for 6 years.Had no problems with it at all.
I’ve bought a heap of Ozito products.
Never been disappointed
Usually the wheels give out on cheap built mowers, they fall off etc, and you can rarely get parts for them.
I'm quite surprised how little it bogged down, the Ryobi at a similar price point I think would struggle in the long Buffalo?
I’ve got a video on this lawn with the Ryobi. If you go back through the videos you’ll see it.
I have next size down, still 36v though. Fine mower for a smaller yard but yes the metal and plastics are not 1980s quality.
That’s a pretty heavy lawn. I reckon one of those and keep the old petrol in the shed if you let it get long.
I cannot get it to start with the 2 battery's
You must hold the red button down for 3 seconds before pulling the starting bar ! That gives it time to do its quick safety readings of the batteries before it starts up !!
@aplustransportservicesgold5219 ...where is the starter bar I have this mower and can't start it.
so it will retain water
I think my yard is too big for an electric mower unfortunately
live in NQ bloody buffalo grows like no tomorrow petrol only. Was surprised at the battery life. Thanks
Battery connection is definitely annoying with the ozito kits but the price for batteries almost makes up for it.
I've never had any connection problem - the batteries have little rectangular bars which snap back up into place when inserted on the charger or mower. Those both confirm the battery is seated properly and also hold the battery in place.
nice lawn. What type of buffalo on that lawn? Sir Walter?
Some sort of buffalo
@@turfandtoolsunfortunately this does not answer the question!!
I don’t know what specific type of buffalo it is.
I love d your tool wall 🤗.
It looks like it does a good job lawn Looks beautiful 👍well done
If you just want to mow your own yard then battery mowers are all you need. Quiet, light, clean and have more than enough power as demonstrated here . One of the main reasons people have overgrown lawn is they cant start the petrol mower.
sounds solid
Hmm, I can see why I wouldn't like it but can also see how it would be good enough for a small lawn if you had patience and wanted to save some money.
Ball bearing wheels instead of the ones that are pressed on make all the difference in my opinion.
Well the Ozzito power tools are lucky to last 2 hours before they stuff up , this is from my experience ,
Not a terrible cut. I guess being a “man of the land” and a “primary provider” of Sydney’s eggs has taken so much time that the home base lawn is paying the price. 🤣
Careful burning that candle at both ends for too long. You should start to consider some help to maintain this pace.
Cheers and thanks for the great content of late. My wife and I are enjoying the chickens.
😜
MULCHER 👍👍👍Ditch the bag
I had the earlier model. I couldn’t wait to get rid of it. It wouldn’t do the back lawn in one charge. Fortunately got my money back from Bunnings
You getting thinner or what bro 🔥
please try the dewalt top of the range
if its 36V , does that mean theres 2 18 V
Correct. I have the previous model - mine doesn't work if you only insert 1 battery, or if 1 of the 2 batteries is flat.
