I was a pediatric nurse for 30 yrs. and you both did everything just right. As Lincoln matures he will understand, while tests are not fun, they are not trying to hurt him, rather help. He’s such a beautiful little guy. The Lord has put it on my heart to tell you ,if you haven’t watched Rory Feek on utube please check out his channel. He’s a country/gospel song writer/performer and lives not far from you. He lives on a beautiful farm and is a kind and gentle man, raising his daughter alone after his wife Joey’s passing. Amanda and Stephen are such awesome parents. They have so much love and patience. The kids are in such a loving environment and so blessed. I love their genuine love for their children. Lincoln is such an adorable child.
My son is 30 y/o now. When he was 3 he had open heart surgery and when they were prepping him and doing the IV. He just looked at me and the look he gave mewas like help me. Till this day it makes me cry I have never felt so helpless or scared. So I understand your pain.
Oh I know how u feel... same here my son is 31 y/o . He had an operation when he was 8 months old. He saw me when the nurse took him and he looked at me. I wanted to grab him but I couldn't but everything turned out ok...thank God 🙏

Love to you all 💙 Our little guy has epilepsy and we've had to do 6 EEGS in the last year, most of them 24 hours. They are SO hard during the set up. Lots of encouragement, favorite books, prayer, and long snuggles when it's done. Amanda you said it, holding them there when they don't understand is so hard. Our kids are brave warriors 💙

As someone who has had chronic seizures since I was a baby, I have had countless EEG’s and as a child I never understood them. Obviously I’m an adult now, but I can say it is so much easier getting older-it will hopefully get better for Lincoln too. I hope the test comes back with good news. He doesn’t deserve to struggle but you two are the most amazing parents he could have by his side. Stay strong mom and dad ❤️ y’all got this 🥰🥰🥰

I can relate a lot of this when my son was young. ( he’s now 21), he was diagnosed with Asperger’s and had severe anxiety. Was very hard when we had doctors appointments with him when he was young. God Bless you both. You are doing a wonderful job raising your beautiful children.

I remember having a CAT scan when I was a child, when my Mum was not allowed to be in there with me; it was scary, even though I understood what was going on and why I had to stay still. So glad the staff were supportive and understanding. It was not always the case, 32+ years ago. I bet that nap he took when he got home was heaven-sent for you all! The calming during praise and worship music reminded me of this: One of my students was inconsolable for reasons I couldn’t discern, so I asked him, “(Name), sweetie, what do you need?” I did not really expect him to respond due to his low verbal skill and high degree of upset. He stopped crying and looked at me to say, “I just need the Gospel!” Another time, this same kid was given a consequence and had to sit away from the group for a few minutes and through his tears, I heard him sing, “I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me....”
What must have been so difficult as a parent (even though I am not one) to see your child is so unhappy and uncomfortable. You cannot even explain to him why he is there and why he must stay still. It breaks my heart. Poor Linky but also you guys, Amanda and Stephen. Wishing you all good health and sending much love from the UK x

It can be really hard, for the kid and for the parents who are trying to help them. As one of those kids , I want to say You’re doing amazing. Lincoln is so lucky to have you. Keep supporting him and being there for him, that’s all you can do. And know he appreciates it and loves you, even if he can’t say it. ♥️

I remember those days. I had micro twins at 24 wks gestation . They weighed 1pound each. They are 27 years old now. They had 24 surgeries total between both of them . My girl twin is special needs. I am so blessed. Her brother is doing just great. Those early days were rough. I love you all.
My Gran’s favourite saying to my Mother, when my Mum asked for her advice was, “Let her sleep as much as she wants, when she sleeps, she grows. She will get there in her own time”(referring to my journey to wellness and thriving.) She lived to the ripe old age of 97 and had a premature baby of her own, my Uncle who was also a sickly child at first, but with her care and encouragement he grew up and thrived until his 90s, also. How you start off in life does not determine your later life. All a child needs is a family who believe in them and helps them along the way. Lincoln is going to do great things in his life, because he has had to work harder to get to where other children reach without as much effort.
Beautiful start to the day and then a rough few hours in the middle. Bet when that sweet boy Lincoln wakes up from his nap he will be his happy little self. Hardest on you two having to watch him be scared and unhappy. God bless you two and your family.

I’m 27 and have epilepsy and have had 3 days up to 14 day eeg’s I still cry. 3 brain surgeries later. I cried just hearing about sweet Lincoln’s EEG 😭

Aw...Lincoln😢. Especially after his brain surgery, I'm sure he's extremely fearful and anxious during doctors' visits that involve his head. It's a beautiful thing that you both try to understand Lincoln and went prepared with the things he loves to help him stay calm. Hopefully it gets easier.
You putting Lincoln to sleep, made me well up, so sweet and moving to see the love you have for him... Oh Amanda I'm crying with you. Thanks to God that He has everything under control.

The calming during praise and worship music reminded me of this: One of my students was inconsolable for reasons I couldn’t discern, so I asked him, “(Name), sweetie, what do you need?” I did not really expect him to respond due to his low verbal skill and high degree of upset. He stopped crying and looked at me to say, “I just need the Gospel!”
Another time, this same kid was given a consequence and had to sit away from the group for a few minutes and through his tears, I heard him sing, “I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me....”
What must have been so difficult as a parent (even though I am not one) to see your child is so unhappy and uncomfortable. You cannot even explain to him why he is there and why he must stay still. It breaks my heart. Poor Linky but also you guys, Amanda and Stephen. Wishing you all good health and sending much love from the UK x

Sending lots of love. Unfortunately, this is the reality for lots of special needs kids, adopted kids and foster kids. As well as any kid who has had trauma. It can be really hard, for the kid and for the parents who are trying to help them. As one of those kids , I want to say You’re doing amazing. Lincoln is so lucky to have you. Keep supporting him and being there for him, that’s all you can do. And know he appreciates it and loves you, even if he can’t say it. ♥️

I remember those days. I had micro twins at 24 wks gestation . They weighed 1pound each. They are 27 years old now. They had 24 surgeries total between both of them . My girl twin is special needs. I am so blessed. Her brother is doing just great. Those early days were rough. I love you all.
My Gran’s favourite saying to my Mother, when my Mum asked for her advice was, “Let her sleep as much as she wants, when she sleeps, she grows. She will get there in her own time”(referring to my journey to wellness and thriving.) She lived to the ripe old age of 97 and had a premature baby of her own, my Uncle who was also a sickly child at first, but with her care and encouragement he grew up and thrived until his 90s, also. How you start off in life does not determine your later life. All a child needs is a family who believe in them and helps them along the way. Lincoln is going to do great things in his life, because he has had to work harder to get to where other children reach without as much effort.
