Rene lives in elderly home with bad health. He still cannot forgive Butterfly lied to him that he was a woman and used him as espionage. Sad ending.

I know this man, who was played by J.Irons in this film. His name is Bernard Boursicot, he just get back to China, he doesn't want to live anymore in France. I have started a documentary film with him, so i looking for someone who may give me financial assitance, and i hope that i will go to Shanghai with him, because we are much more interesting out there!
《M. Butterfly》has a potential to be a good film. John Lone and the other actor are really good. But too bad the story pace is so weird that it ruins the whole story.

In case you're still here: Rene's character was based on Bernard Boursicourt. Bernard was 20 yo in 1964 u can count it yourself ;)
