I really enjoy all your posts on TH-cam. Especially liked this video, as I recently went to visit the New Claymont station. I live between Claymont and Newark Delaware stations (closer to Newark). I am a former Pennsylvania Railroad passenger Conductor on the Harrisburg Division then later a B&O engineer running between Philadelphia and Richmond VA or Cumberland MD. I have been retired for several years now. I would enjoy meeting and talking with you sometime, if that were possible. Thank you for your videos.
I believe when you did your first video of this trip back in 2020, SEPTA was allowing riders free passage due to the pandemic. I can remember riding to Devon, PA for free from Philly back then.
[59:11] ARSENAL Interlocking: SEPTA''s Media-wawa Line merges with its Wilmington - Newark (Delaware) Line north towards "CIVIC" which provides access into Penn Medicine Station.
I have family in Marcus Hook PA - and Boothwyn PA - associated with the now-closed Sunoco Marcus Hook PA refinery - the oldest operating refinery in the United States hen it finally shuttered - undér heavy protests. I get why it was shut - unsafe conditions are problematic for any refinery - Texas City TX is a case example.
I just watched the news on a Philadelphia station and they said unless SEPTA gets the needed money , service on the Chestnut Hill East and Chestnut Hill West lines will be cut, and apparently both lines are among the lowest in the SEPTA system in terms of ridership numbers.
@@3985uprr in the past, there was always talk about eliminating one of the Chestnut Hill lines, usually the CHW line as CHE (former Reading line) is under complete SEPTA control and is not subject to Amtrak movements unlike CHW. Also, unlike CHE, which goes through Germantown (largely Black neighborhood), CHW goes through a mostly White (and upscale) area, thus eliminating CHE will draw a lot of ire from the Black community (whereas eliminating CHW would cause an uproar from those who use it as opposed to the slower - yet more frequent - Route 23 bus service, which intersects the SEPTA Main Line at Wayne Junction).
Was coming home tonight on Media/Elwyn line and we was delayed , over heard conductor saying something about single tracking and Airport Line was using the emergency track from the airport line. Never seen it in service.
I have to do the airport line. It will be a priority on my next visit. Of course what I do pretends on equipment cycles., timing , and being at the right place at the right time.
Shows I’m human 🤣🤣. The gaffe was because the outbound was #3219 so I stuck with the 32xx on the way back but train goes to Doylestown. The outbound came from West Trenton. I’ve never seen a railroad with so many origin and destination combinations.
Great Picture on the video! I had to pull this one up on my smart TV. Thank you for making this.

I always learn some thing new while watching your videos. I live in the Philadelphia area and like taking train trip when I can.
That is awesome!
@@3985uprrAfter running semi-local to Suburban Station it runs express to Fort Washington before making all local stops to Doylestown.
as a former railroader the video was outstanding and the narration was excellent
Thanks. From a former railroader that means a lot.
Nice ride. Thoroughly enjoyed watching from Christchurch, New Zealand.
Part of the charm of Septa regional rail is the old style stations.
Eddystone is the site of the former Baldwin Locomotive Works, hence the interlocking being called "Baldwin."
Between Wilmington DE and Claymont DE, US 13 and DE 4 share pavement - US 13 itself changes sides in Pennsylvania between Marcus Hook and Chester PA.
These videos are nice. Very useful to see NORAC signals in context out in the wild instead of just on paper.
That’s the way to learn them
Nice ride from Newark DE to Philadelphia. Thanks Tim💚👍

Well, I don’t recall but it doesn’t matter cause I have a senior key card and I can travel free anyway
very nicely maintained right of way , unlike many sections on the trash lined NEC
Thanks for all the great trips. Hope you get back to Boston via Middleboro/Lakeville!
Doubtful it will be cab ride
Liking this vid,36 yr.amtrak retiree, maintenance of way m/w repairman.Helped on the install of Ruthby interlocking, with switch exchange system.
That is an impressive high speed switch. Great job.
Plus, that new Claymont station almost reminds me of the Levittown station.
Loving the conductor Paul isms!

Looks like they’re rebuilding some of the catenary and perhaps a new substation in Newark?
26:51 they went through the trouble of making the ramps to get across the tracks accessible… yet there’s no high platforms

I heard that, but people in that area are influential so somehow I think at least one of those lines will survive.

@@rwboa22 that’s why I don’t think they’ll discontinue either line
Enjoyed the southbound journey last night and will enjoy this one now! Hopefully some 30th Street station railfanning while there?
I had just enough time to do this round-trip
@@3985uprr well thank you for posting the round trip!!
Are practicing for a rhyme off with Conductor Paul. lol
I’ll try to use them as much as I can on future Septa rides. Remember to dispose of your junk, to keep the streets clean in Manayunk.
Airport line doing something weird this weekend. Would love a video on it

59:14 changes to red temporarily, that might’ve been the issue
The bottom signal said "Go back to green you idiot" when it turned into yellow for a blink of a second then back to red
Nice video. Unfortunately, the trash and unkept conditions on the line look a mess
Tell me about it
Great video! Did you ride any other lines?
Didn’t have time to do other lines
I joined your channel.
You got the train number wrong, it's 2522
