Shonan Monorail Enoshima to Ōfuna Time-lapse cab view PART 1

- The Shonan Monorail, located an hour South of Tokyo, Japan, is a fun monorail to watch and ride. It follows narrow roads, climbs steep hills, runs through tunnels, and goes places that conventional railroad would not fit. This video shows the monorail route from the Shonan-Enoshima Station to Ofuna Station. There is a time-lapse cab view at the end.
This video follows the monorail northbound, while my second video follows the monorail southbound.
Some really great video there, and what a pleasing little train/monorail that is to watch. I could watch it all day. Thanks for posting.
This is a good idea

At job interview -
Interviewer: Do you have acess to dependable transportation for work?
Me: Yes, a rollercoaster.
Rode this several times, back in 2010, when my wife and I came over for a return visit. Great ride!
I've seen monorails like this in games and futuristic paintings but had no idea they actually existed in real life.
There are many interesting and unique trains around the world! I gravitate towards these futuristic trains.
we have it too in Germany
We actually got a monorail for over 100 years in germany
and japan technology can not be advance like that if they not learn from german

This is awesome and when you think about all the effort it must have taken to make that. Sometimes I feel like we're all waiting on the future while Japan is already living in it.
🤨 Agreed.
2:38-2:41 Goes full speed into the tunnel! Would definitely ride it the next time I visit Tokyo.
looks like a rollercoaster
A "must" for me every time I go to Toyko. Combined of course with a ride on the Enoshima Railway tram up to Kamakura.

When all of a sudden you realize you designed your train upside down.

I fully enjoyed this video. Thank you for this valuable uploads.
Amazing videos , Amazing country , Amazing Japan ❣️ only in Japan love from Cambodia 🇰🇭
The cool tech is called a _Suspension railway
._ Awesome ride. Japan's infrastructure is so well oiled.
Hanging Train, Amazing. I have seen only in comics books. Now I see this in real life, I can't believe it.
I remember watching a Japanese Science fiction TV series in the 1960's about a super high speed magnetized train which reached 550 miles an hour at top speed !
This is my favourite monorail in all of Japan
There are others ?! 😳🤨😄❤️
Diferenti..adorei mesmo. 👍👍😊❤️muito bom
Cool. Reminds me of the Skytrain in Düsseldorf.
Needs to be in the Mainstream Media, is really interesting and out of the World.. Love this
This is really cool! The track is obvious, but you can't help but get the impression of a flying train. :)
I wouldn't say now "subway". I will say take the "flyway" from Enoshima to Ofuna Station. :)
Looks like upside down train.
but they copied from Germany

What a wonderful video! I always dreamed of knowing Japan. I am Brazilian, living in the city of Santos, on the coast of the State of São Paulo. Here it is a very vertical city, with tall residential buildings, and some are famous for being completely crooked, because of the sandy soil. I've never seen a monorail working. There is a project to build a monorail in the city of São Paulo, which is a big city like Tokyo, surrounded by suburban areas. This video is from a Tokyo suburb, isn't it? I wish the best for the people of Tokyo, for the people of Japan, who have a very disciplined culture. My Japanese students are an example of educating other students.
Thank you! Yes, this Shonan Monorail is about 1 hour south of Tokyo, in the suburbs. I love Japan and their culture. I also really love their trains including the Shinkansen high speed trains, JR commuter trains, subways, maglevs, and monorails! Everything fascinates me when I'm traveling in Japan. I have never been to Santos yet, but I've been to São Paulo many times and I've ridden the monorail there. (I have several videos from São Paulo and Rio if you want to watch them.) Have a nice day!
Obrigado!
@@Luke_Starkenburg Oh! Thank you very much for answering me and for your comments, Mr. Luke. Look how interesting! He was in Brazil, very close to me. I really like the city of São Paulo and I walk there a lot, but look how curious, I didn't even know that the 15 Silver line, which is the monorail you filmed, was ready. I think I'm going to try it out there. Especially because I have a friend who lives next to subway line 2 Green, which is where line 15 departs from. Thanks! And yes, I will watch your videos about Brazil and also about other countries. I like it. Congratulations for the channel! I'm subscribed. The Santa Tereza tram was one of the rides I most enjoyed in Rio de Janeiro. Not to mention adrenaline when two trams cross that hill. Terrible accidents have already happened there, but it is quite occasional. If one day you come to Santos, you can try the tour on our VLT, but I can't say that it compares with the others you have already done. Part of the tour is urban, but in certain sections it is possible to see the beach. Just a curiosity, I'm not wanting to be indiscreet, but where are you from, Mr. Luke? English? American? Thanks! And it's fun to write in different languages, like Japanese.
Oh!
AirRaid77 I’m from Chicago. I only use a translator service to read and translate comments from my TH-cam channel. I don’t speak or read Portuguese. :-(.
AirRaid77 my favorite monorail system is from Chongqing, China. They have two monorail lines, and they all work well with no problems and are extremely high capacity! I have many videos from Chongqing on my TH-cam Chanel.
@@Luke_Starkenburg Yes, I will watch the videos about China, which is a huge country with a lot to be seen too, right? I thought you were from Chicago, because I saw that there are videos about this great city on your channel. I know that Chicago has a big Aquarium. I think it's the largest in the United States, am I right? And the city breathes the air of the Great Lakes and has an importance in history, as I remember, it was the scene of Al Capone's performances, am I right? I plan to visit Chicago one day... but only after discovering the wonders of the two American coasts. I have a route plan ready for Chicago, (starting with Boston or NY, passing through Buffalo/Niagara Falls, Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago) which would be for my possible 3rd trip to the USA. I haven't even done the first one yet. And it is difficult at the moment, due to the high value of dollar in Brazil. My president's fault! The worst president of all times of Brazil... but it will change... I'm using the translator sometimes too... but I speak english, spanish and portuguese!
MARAVILHOSO
This is Awesome Some of these streets actually reminds me of NYC/LONDON.Much Love to Japan.
From Miura to Yokohama, although it's very populated area, the land is hilly. Unlike flat low lands of neighbor Tokyo, the urban development of eastern Kanagawa has always been hard-mode.
So nice ...
Japan my favorite country to visit because it is best in technology and in many things
Hands down Japan have the best public transportation
Very smart, there's room for traffic.
Obojsik Andrej yes, getting trains off the street and totally grade separated is very smart. Trams get stuck in traffic and often add to congestion. This monorail has a very slim track and can follow above this narrow street!
Wow I've never been on a monorail.. Japan has everything awesome
Super interesting ! Good to know.
I love going on monorails
If you're a 'monorailist' as am I, Shonan needs to be on your bucket list. Great ride!
Extremely interesting stuff
Looks amazing I wonder if Japan is as amazing as people say
This is such a awesome ride.
Apaixonado por esse trem
Thank you very very much. What a beautiful and interesting video. I loved it. Muchas gracias
So Cute
Love the "bullet monorail" footage, even if it did make me dizzy. :D
it's awesome seems like floating in the air.
Thanks for sharing, I love it
You're welcome! Thanks for the comment.
Some countries still dreaming while Japanese people make it comes true.

Most dreams came true for Japan in the 90s, nowadays with a slowing economy and a declining birthrate things arent quite as rosy.
