The motorcycle is one thing, i mostly watch this video for the beautiful road and scenery. You know i am from India and these kind of scenes and cleanliness basically do not exist here. With that beautiful countryside any and every bike would feel awesome!
Absolutely 😁 thank you Sona 😁
Offers a lot for the money. A very enjoyable video mate. got my like. :)
Thanks RRR 😁
Brilliant video, very helpful. Thank you!
Thank you 😊
Yeah, just great. :) Drop by bro, you may find interesting what I do. :)
'...It's about the price of BMW Luggage' Yup that is bang on the money!

Marvellous 😊😂😂
You really bring me down to earth in the best of ways!
😂😂😂
Awesome TAYM, you finally got to see and feel what the amazing Meteor is all about !
The thing about it is, within a couple of miles of riding one, you feel completely relaxed and at ease with the bike.
I'd never ridden a cruiser before, nor had I ever used a heel and toe shifter. But like you, within a couple of miles I was like "ok, that's how how it works, fine !". After that, no nasty surprises, everything just falls to hand or foot, a totally relaxing and stress free riding experience, even on a brand new bike ! I have done over 300 miles on a tankful, so it is indeed possible. The mpg is usually over 100 with my usual mix of riding. With regard to the turn in, that's why you have wide bars on it. Just give them a good shove and the front falls into the bend. I think that's how people manage to hustle heavy cruisers like Harleys. You use a lot of counter-steering to get the front to get on the edge of the tyre. And of course, as you say, if you want to press on a bit, moving up towards the tank puts more weight on the front and also helps.
Thanks for the mention ! Yes, I have now turned my Fireball into a baby bagger, adding practicality and even more of a cruiser vibe to what was already a beautiful looking bike.
I like your senses test....I think you should lick every bike you test, just to see how it tastes though, personally 😜
Once fully run-in the Meteor has all of the performance I need for a relaxing weekend ride in the mountains. Why pay more for more power I will hardly ever use ? And of course, with petrol prices as they are, I can still afford to ride it as much as I like, thanks to the amazing fuel economy.
For my use case, the Meteor is the perfect hobby motorcycle. As soon as I sit on it, I feel totally at ease, at home and every ride is just stress free, pure enjoyment.
And then of course there is the low price of entry. It really is a fantastic motorcycle and deserves the success it has had. It has some "magic" about it. Once ridden, smitten !
My Meteor now has 6000 km on it ( in 11 months ) and has not had a single issue and still looks brand new, so the quality is there ( although of course I am a fair weather only rider 😂 ).
Really enjoyed watching you enjoy the Meteor TAYM. I could relate to everything you picked up on. It is indeed splendiferous !!!
Cheers sir, you are a man of excellent taste.
ER.
😂😂that’s marvellous, I can’t see why anyone would want anything bigger, expect perhaps for two up cruises. There really isn’t any other bike like it. It’s in a class of its own and therefore a class leader that will set the benchmark for any one else who is brave enough to attempt to replicate.
People talk about the bike but nobody mentions the cost of insurance and road tax ,it’s a nice bike good value ,I think they are governed at 70 mph sits on 60 all day long it’s so so on the motorway it will get you there not very fast ,best on B roads ,old jimmy
Absolutely 😁 very good value, especially at the moment 😁 and the latest colours are fantastic 😁
IMO, the Meteor 350 is joy (of riding) pure. The absolute quintessence of motorcycling.
+1
Pure joy here in North Thailand... Perfect machine for this location 📍 IMO
*Crap Game*
I'm glad you talked about the heel/toe shifter. Like you, it took me about five minutes to get used to it. Once I did, I wondered where has this shifter been all of my life??? I appreciated your fun and informative review.
Thank you 😊
I found the heel toe shifter awkward, because the heel to toe angles were completely wrong - the heel stopped you from using the toe, and the toe stopped you from using the heel comfortably.
I am lucky enough to have a RE dealership 4 miles from home. I’ve had mine about a month now and loving it everyday! I would definitely consider buying the Himalayan as well. I love the sound of my Meteor when I start it up. Pure joy! Nice review 😎
Marvellous. Thank you 😊
Simply marvellous mutter. RE are on a roll, I love my Classic 350.
I just watched your video again 😊 nice watching you ride ‘my bike’ 😂 around the England roads 😊 marvellous
Marvellous indeed 😊
its a ripper ABD!... and of course marvellous too..:) I've watched your vids and ride my Meteor around Northern Rivers area of NSW and love it.
@@chrisandrew852 good on ya Chris… they are bloody good bikes 👍🍺
Switch buttons? You mean rotary switches that have been around for a century or so? How innovative!
That said, my test ride was enjoyable, the bike handled well, and the balance between power deficiency but enjoy efficiency (coming from a Triumph Nightstorm 1700 and a BMW F800ST) was a big net plus for the Meteor!
Thank you to Newcombe Bros Chelmsford! Awesome folks there.
Yes, I’ve heard of Newcombe Bros, I must go and have a look over there😁 yes, the old baker light switches, marvellous. When I was talking about them I was referring to the fact when everyone else is trying to make things differently, RE were thoughtful enough to go back in time to give us something very tactile and pleasing to use. 😁 thanks DS😁
@@TAYM You're all good! I re-read my comment and it reads a bit snippy - not intended to come across that way! I absolutely agree with you, they are tactile and pleasant to use.
@@davidstancomb5380 thanks DS 😁 not at all, no worries 😁
I love those switches on Reg my new Classic 350 😊
They are splendiferous for sure 😀
@@TAYM I shall have to find somewhere nice to park up and take a photo of Reg for you. Plenty of water near me too 😊
@@DoomNedwob yes please
@@TAYM Will do....as soon as it stops flippin' raining and the sun comes out 🌞🌈😂
@@DoomNedwob marvellous 😊😂😂
Some good thoughts on the Meteor. Better than most reviews. It is a unique motorbike, as you point out. Another winner from R.E.
I rarely take mine over 55 ( even though it will do 70) . It's so comfortable you could ride it to the moon . I love mine 👍ps I do get 300 miles per tank so start looking for fuel at 250 with no problems. It's also worth noting that the rear suspension is a bit too firm from new , I thought I'd give mine a few miles and see if I felt they needed to be swapped out , but I found after 5½k happy miles that it settles in and is now fine .
Thanks EWM 😁 have you seen the new black and silver one 😁
Nobody has yet mentioned the "C" [CHAIN] word. Because the Meteor delivers it's power smoothly and doesn't have a massive amount of top end power the chain doesn't get; stretched, damaged "O" rings or need attention every three days. It's just there, and a modicum of maintenance and occasional re-tensioning will keep it happy. That's unlike snatchy, dump the clutch at high revs, superbikes.
Very true😁 excellent point 😁 thanks 2nd C😁
These Royal Enfield's seem to be a bargain, plenty of happy owners!
They are certainly cost effective 😊 Thanks DD 😊
Marvelous, the meteor seems to surprise everyone that rides one, think Enfield have hit the bulls eye..
Black Jacket and Brown gloves? Dear lord man that's very aventgarrrrde!
I know, my stylish brown jacket is having zip problems. That’s not my nonstylish stylish jacket that you previously saw 😂😂😂 but my fur collar stylish jacket
@@TAYM One could almost say splendifferously stylish! 🤣🤣

You know what that village was missing? Cricket match on the green.
Like that bike in bronze.
I agree
But it would be wrong to play cricket on a Wednesday 😂😂😂
😂 but twas Sunday when I watched it 😂

Indeed 😂😂
Love Haywards I’m often there
Maybe bump into you sometime. 😀😂😂
That's what we call em here in NZ.Baby Harley's,wild piglet. You can get a heel & toe shifter from India aftermarket for Classic 350.The Meteor one doesn't fit.
That’s what I had heard too
@@TAYM I haven't ridin a cruiser with forward controls before apparently very comfortable, what did you think?
@@ruahinesrider the seat is very comfortable but for me I find the Classic more comfortable, probably due to my dodgy hips from years of horse riding😂😂😂
@@TAYM Ride with Warro got friend in India to buy a heel toe shifter as not on ebay yet.
Warro did a video about it.
@@TAYM Splendiferous 😂
Splendiferous review, bloody marvellous! They have a matt green one now, though not sure it'll be available here. I think the choice of colours is more limited in the UK. I too love the switches, they are like the honda XR dirt bikes of the 70's. I like it in red, but the blue supernovas are nice too. Hard choice.
They really are splediferous 😁
I was at Haywards yesterday to book in for some work on my bike and it was pretty busy. Not sure how the Meteor would fair on the dual carriageways west of Dry Drayton on my irregular commute. If the Interceptor came in black engine as an option, like most of the Meteors I'd be sorely tempted.
I wonder if Royal Enfield will do an all black interceptor 🤔 like the stealth Classic they did
well with no fairing 70mph is plenty and you're unlikely to get into trouble, both with the law and with yourself as bikes like this, the classic, scram etc don't make you think you're Mick Doohan. There's a lot to be said about the enjoyment of plodding along enjoying the view on a bike that will do 75 flat out in 5th rather than a bike that will do 75 on tickover in 1st.
I road tested exact same bike then traded in my interceptor at Haywards.
@@icedidi i do get what you're saying and prefer B roads personally, just got a bike initially to do a weekly commute when work decided to relocate 30 miles out of Cambridge, and my lil yammie 125 was okay tho i'd have to stay on the left on a dual carriageway as overtaking anything was a slow and risky task. only passed my Mod2 test a couple of weeks ago and can think about buying a big girl bike
I live in Foxton near Royston by the way. May have seen you up Haywards m8 you are famous now!!!
Another spiffing mutter. I fitted the heel & toe shifter to Jemima, the leaky classic 500 because my size 11 boots kept getting jammed under the standard shifter - it worked a treat!
Marvellous
Haywards Barbe Q again Saturday came round quick. I’m going if weather is ok?
I am doing the one ride on Sunday 😊
@@TAYM what’s that?
@@Lostoldman a big ride of royal Enfields from Haywards to somewhere near Royston
@@TAYM I’m surprised I have not been told and anyway Haywards gates will be closed on Sunday
As an owner of a classic 500 you’ve said everything, “the
Meteor is marvellous, but it’s not Bertie.” The Meteor gets close to the classic, but it doesn’t match it. Riding a classic 500 it’s magic.
It is
@@TAYM I'd love to see your comparison of the Classic 350 and 500 - have you any thoughts on that?
@@davgb7904 i have had a little mutter th-cam.com/video/RqSLGMPcDfk/w-d-xo.html but need to do it again after a second ride on the 350
@@TAYM Ah! Thanks. I looked - thought you would have, but couldn't find it. You're becoming too prolific! :-)
@@davgb7904 😂😂😂 I do need to ride the 350 again and do a better comparison, one which doesn’t get the weight wrong 😑 😂😂😂
If you want cheep check out the gear linkage and no stone protectors on the forks, great bike but just a couple of little bits which RE should have addressed imo
Maybe they will upgrade them as time allows.
@@TAYM perhaps, but it's a case of spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar
@@kevindarkstar maybe that’s why BSA are taking so long. Would explain the hike in price.
Enjoyed the ride, If you had to choose between the Meteor or the Himalayan for an all year round bike which would you choose?
I have another himmi video coming so I don’t think i should be made to answer that just yet😂😂😂
Splendid TAYM
This video started playing on my TH-cam after watching a similar one. I've seen it before when you first put it on and what shocks me is your voice sounds completely different to now 😮,or were you just trying to talk a bit posher back then 😂😂😂
Defiantly tried to be posher 😂😂😂 thanks B 😁
Why is the part of the road at 6:38 blocked about 30% of the way? I recall having seen such obstacles in other videos too. Isn't it too dangerous to have the road width suddenly reduced? I guess there would be warnings sufficiently in advance to help slow down, but still...
I think to slow traffic of the 4 wheel construction 😊
Only in the UK can you find that making one car travel past the centre of the road INTO the path of oncoming vehicles a road safety measure. I mean, what`s safer than cars keeping to their own side of the road. Just one of the many lies we are spun in this country, in the name of OUR road safety.
