  • E7 - The Groow Zone | How Keion and Shaunie Are Rewriting “the Rules” for Their Black Family.
Shaunie and Keion share their blueprint for thriving as a power couple.
As sought-after public figures, Keion and Shaunie maneuver sharing the spotlight in marriage and business. The cultural and religious superstars illuminate how they tag team and complement each other in work and life: Keion tends to assume a “visionary” big-picture role while Shaunie typically functions as a detail-oriented “facilitator.” In this episode, the Hendersons unpack why “competition isn’t good for the house” and how to keep “business baggage out of the bedroom.” As leaders at church and at home, they’ve learned to swap visionary-facilitator roles based on what their partner needs.
Tips and advice include how to set boundaries between work and home, why communicating crucial decisions with your partner early on helps them trust the final outcome, and why it’s important not to “split the negative” but share both successes and failures. It takes growth on the inside to not only share the spotlight with your partner but to help each other shine. Above all, Keion reminds us that “You cannot share the spotlight without also sharing the darkness.”

It’s sad to see what the world has become. We need to have more of this type of conversation.
My values didn’t necessarily taught. However I’ve watched the way my grandmother would conduct herself around us. I’ve learned so much from that amazing woman who did not have an education. And later on in life I’ve self taught and still learning. I’m so fortunate to have raised 2 beautiful daughters with so great values.
Thank you pastor Keion and amazing first lady Shaunie. I love you both. Blessings ❤

Our parents use to tell us NOT to embarrass them in public. Also, I told some of the young parents who were allowing their children to participate in that cussing challenge that it wasn't funny and it would come back to bite.

Thank you for this conversation! I do love ❤️ our black sound in our church culture . When I crossed over into the non denomination side and it was predominantly Caucasian , their style and worship is different... Although it has been a good experience, but I love our freeing style, sound, and unique way of worship. The black sound! This was good. I will have a sit down discussion with mine.

The values I have tried to instill in my children is to have self-respect. There are additional ones as far as where values are placed. That means not to become obsessed with the material things of the world but try to have favor in God’s eyes; storing their treasures in heaven.
Secondly, when my family and I stay in hotels I take the sheets off and put them in a pile, gather all of the towels; even wet ones; and put them in a pile on the bathroom floor, I put the dishes in the dishwasher and out all of the trash together. Lastly, I leave a tip and note on a notepad.

“We stay too long in positions….”; as an African, I assure you, it is an African problem, our leaders stay too long
I think it stems from having kingdoms and chiefdoms; those leaders could only leave position when they died then and only then would succession begin
