I am so proud of John, Roger and Brian for pulling that Tribute concert off. It was really a unique occasion, no other music star got a bigger sent off.
I love this performance. They really tried to capture Freddies spirit! Was so shocked someone gave a nod to Mustapha, captured my attention from the start. THANK YOU HAP!
Apparently Brian had asked Extreme to just do their own music and be themselves, and when they told him they wanted to do a medley of Queen songs, he strongly objected, but eventually came around to saying that he new that they would do the right thing…
I remember watching it on TV back then and I was and still am more fascinated with the crowd than actual performers. You can feel their emotions through the concert, that was so special, how they responded as one to every song! It was especially touching while George Michael performed "Somebody to love". Freddie"s spirit was definitely in that Audience that night, in every person's heart! Because noone could sing like him, no matter how good they were.
Extreme were massive Queen fans & they obviously put a lot of effort into that performance to get it right. Nuno is a fantastic guitarist. The DVD & Blue Ray release only has the Queen half, they need to release the best of the first half too....there were some good stuff on there. This was concert was the first time we saw Queen with guest vocalists & it was very odd....even today with Adam Lambert Freddie’s presence is sorely missed & acknowledged
Hap 💗 Your reaction was extremely fantastic, can't be better than this... 💟 Your love for Freddie and Queen.. is shared in a very respectful way in this reaction.. my first time watching this performance, It was amazing how they were getting the fans together. Kudos to them doing such awesome job! 💯👍
This was the year i was born, and still very fresh till this day, i heared an interview of Nuno talking about this concert and he mentioned that John Deacon personally Thank them for Doing this Medley because it reminded him (John Deacon) of them playing @LiveAid🤧. ... ohhh i miss John😢.....they also do Love of my life and more than words in this concert. my Respect also to Extreme🤘🏻 thanks mr Hap for reacting to this , it made my Day😊
Oh Hap... ur intro was so heartfelt & thoughtful 💙 u have been a huge part of making Queen music alive & spreading their music all around the world. I’m so glad that I learned about Queen through u & ur subs 👍🏼 I loved watching this concert, felt the love& respect in their performance definitely. Thanks for sharing this 🙏🏼❤️
when Extreme went over to perform at the Tribute concert they were in Florida recording their next album. I had met them through friends from Boston and they were so excited to be asked to perform at it since they were huge Queen fans.
When I think of watching this concert I always think of Extreme. You could tell how much they loved Queen and Freddie and how they wanted to pay him tribute. They had a huge hit with More Than Words and sing that at the concert as well as Love of My Life. Didn't hurt that they had the best crowd in the world. The DVD only has the singers that played with Roger, Brian and John but the concert went on all day. I still have the VHS tape that I recorded it with! Yes, i'm that old. Lol. Great reaction!
I remember watching this live. There were a ton of great tributes, but most did not even come close to Freddie. It'll be 30 years this November and he is still missed by millions.
Great reaction, brings back so many mixed memories, great bands/singers honouring not just Freddie, but John,Brian and Roger, another great day in musical history....well done my friend.
I've only listen to bits of this concert. I have say I have hard time listening to other people singing in Freddie's place. Freddie made every song his own and no one can put that special touch he had in the song. Thanks for the reaction.
The beginning of your reaction almost brought me to tears. Absence of presence for sure. Their music is as popular and important as it ever was and will live on forever. There will be imitators but never another Queen. "Back Chat" from the Hot Space album is one I would like a reaction to. It's fun and cheeky! You have done a wonderful thing in keeping ther music alive. Not until I started listening to your reactions did I truly understand and respect the Queen catalogue. Thanks of that HAP. 😊🎙🎹🎸🎶🎶🎶 Peace J
I usually go out of my way to not hear other people sing Queen songs, but I came across a video of Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme talking about why they did the Queen medley when they were supposed to be doing their own music at this time in the show... th-cam.com/video/CEOX1r8f1Ps/w-d-xo.html ... and I totally get where he was coming from. I actually enjoyed this quite a bit. NOBODY can compete with Freddie, but I get other musicians wanting to honor him and Queen. Thanks, Hap! They were a huge influence on younger musicians. Your intro was especially touching.
That part of the story almost did me in. There are times during the performances with guest singers that I can't take my eyes off of John. Gets me in the heart. Extreme's goal didn't seem to be copying Queen, just playing the hell out of those songs to honor them and Freddie. Loved their passion.
Thanks HAP! It was nice to see this. I had only seen the Queen portion of that concert prior to your reaction. It was a fantastic tribute but, like you say, it is missing the special nuances that we get from Freddie when he performs. He just can't be matched but I very much appreciate their tribute. It was clear they put their heart and soul into it. As for the audience's instinctive reaction, I would expect nothing less from a Queen audience. Freddie trained them well!
If I remember - Gary (the singer) and Nuno (the guitar player) met because of their mutual love of the Queen II album. Specifically Side Black. (Ogre Battle on...on vinyl Side one was Side White) I got a chance to talk a little to Nuno at a Queen event and we talked about Brian's guitar. These guys are real Queen fans. That said, they do have their own sound, and they are excellent musicians, I was always hoping for more emotional connection from their music, but heck I'm a Queen fan so I guess I ask a lot of music in general. Great reaction. The crowd really responded to hearing Queen music from this earlier part of the day. I hope you get to watch the whole show someday! (daytime acts and the Queen+ show at night) It's worth it just to see John Deacon yell Metallica!
Gary Cherone and Extreme were my second favorite performance of the Tribute concert, my first was George Michael, I absolutely loved Extreme’s melody of Freddie’s songs! I bought the entire British version on the concert, have it downloaded and listen to it about once every other month only because I get too emotional listening and missing Freddie! Gary’s energy while performing is amazing he moves so much yet can sing beautifully! I thought I’d read somewhere I read that Freddie had been with Exteme but I guess my memory isn’t as sharp as it used to be. I’ve rambled on once again my dear friend. Your reaction was top notch as always. Love from across the pond.
The band Extreme also covered Love Of My Live and the guitarist Nuno Bettencourt played live Get Down Make Love! Also guitarist Nuno Bettencourt played online with Brian May, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai and Zakk Wylde Bohemian Rhapsody! And they also did it live during Steve Vai tour, but without Brian! Check it out!
Great reaction, Hap!! I’ve watched the complete tribute a few times & it’s still difficult to watch! Lump in my throat fighting off the tears!! No matter how good the artists tried … IT’S NOT FREDDIE 😩😩 But I must say Extreme & their band have the best HAIR on the planet! 😁 Whoosh!!
Freddie sang with the back up vocals of the band constantly! This is why Extreme is so excellent is because they use same formula as Queen to do this tribute!☮️❤️
wow! and thanks! ... your intro-speech was absolutly amazing! i do normally skip the intro parts of reactors, but your intro i repeated twice! well done, very well done! loved it a lot! ♥ to the music: i've been to this concert and i was only 10 at this time, but already a huge queen fan. queen was my favourite band since i was 6 (btw. i am almost 40 now and still a queen fan!). very first i was very dissapointed! metallica opend the show! i didn't knew who metallica was and i didn't know the songs! then came guns&roses ... never heard of the as well! music was cool, but it was not queen music - dissapointed again! boring, bla! i mean - i was a kid and that was (!) not my music at all and i didn't know it as i just was listening to queen all day! and than extreme hit the stage with this medley (they played other songs as well, but....) ... it was queen music and it was on fire! i loved it!!! and the people there loved it as well and went crazy, were singing, dancing, clapping, etc. funny side-story: as the complete show was over i was so tired that i felt aspleed in the stadium and my mother had to carry me out! she is gladly a strong woman! :-) thanks, mom! ♥
I remember seeing this on TV when it aired, I was going "Oh boy, those others bands which play after them will have a TOUGH time getting anywhere NEAR this!" And when the clapping during "Radio Gaga" started, I wept, it was just so beautiful. After they finished this set, the guys from the other band apparently went up to them and said "Thank you, that's just what needed to be done!"
Hey hap! I love your reactions. Especially to Queen songs and the like. I think I’ve gone thru your playlist 3 times. Could you please react to These are the days of our lives? I love that song and it’s really moving. Also I’m going slightly mad. Thx and stay healthy!
I hate that it cuts out Brian's opening words, where he says how Extreme, more than any other band that you'll see on that stage, understood what Queen was about and what Freddie was about. Reportedly James Hetfield of Metallica reacted to this performance by saying "how in the hell can anyone follow that?"
I was there and this was one of the highlights of the day . There were so strange things during the day though , some of the choices for singing with them your like where are they now ? What happened to ............ ? Also when you think about it some of the artists here arent with us now either . The Freddie guy was in my queue , and was rushed in to place at the front , the rest of us got in half way through Metallica's first song after queuing for hours
You should check Nuno Bettencourt's interview about their participation in the tribute. If I remember right, Brian didn't want them to do the Queen Medley and wasn't happy about it. But it was so great, he must have come to terms with it because he and Nuno are very good friends. I'll try to get a link you might like.I had never heard of Extreme either... until I heard Nuno's interview. xxx
Nobody can top Freddie but they did an “extremely” good job 👏 I’ve tried to push out Extreme on your channel a couple of times with “More than words” and “Hole hearted” but it never won the pol against Queen songs. I love Nuno nonetheless!
Sureley, they did their best! But...... in my mind, i only hear Freddie's voice and see him performing. I can't imagine how Brian, John and Roger got over Freddie's death.
They were very good... And I don't think Roger, John and Brian will ever get over Freddie's death. They had to find a way to live with it. The phenomenon that was Queen can never be duplicated by any one
There were some really great performances at this concert, but just think that as Freddie’s range was so great, they had to have so many artists to cover the songs he could sing on his own. Seal doing Who Wants to Live Forever, David Bowie and Annie Kennox singing Under Pressure. Robert Plant did Crazy Little Thing Called Love, but also included at little bit of the Led Zeppelin song Thank You (I love that song & told my husband he has to play it at my funeral, which I hope is still a long way off!) which I think was fitting. But perhaps the best of all was George Michael’s rendition of Somebody to Love.
Thanks Hap. Great reaction as always. Being the second act of the tribute concert it was a big risk to do Queen songs which could of gone horribly wrong, especially when they were supposed to be doing their own songs! There are not many bands that could of pulled this off. Their set fished off with Love Of My Life and their own song More Than Words which is worth checking out. Always wondered why Brian didn't join in with Freddie on vocals as I love this cover of LOML as a duet.
I always seem to be a few months late viewing reactions but this one was great. They kept their own style yet incorporated audience participation. What a great tribute although I missed the adlibs also! Of course, they kept it to the lower key songs, lol.
I like some of the lesser known songs like Cool Cat Mustafa,, my melancholy blues, Hey, Big Spender, Is This the,World We Created,& There Must Be More To Life Than This. s this the world we createc?
I totally respect them for tonight but I can hardly get through this concert without breaking down any minute I expect ready to jump on stage and show them how it's done they all did a great job or at least tried their best but it's heartbreaking to watch without him there I've been with you from pretty much they want a queen I've noticed you haven't reacted to freddies three part series of his funny moments
HEY HAP, THANK YOU for doing this reaction... I don't remember if I'd ever left a request for you to do Extreme's Queen medley from Freddie's tribute concert; they're pretty much the ONLY folks I like to watch "covering" Queen's music. But, FYI... This is a TRUNCATED version of Extreme's whole medley that day; the entire thing is 20 minutes long: th-cam.com/video/l26ARroNhS4/w-d-xo.html (At first, I thought maybe you were using a video that is just the first half, because there are two or three postings on YT, of the medley split into two parts. But, this one you watched seems to be edited/shortened.) ANYWAY... This link is the only one I've found on YT of the whole 20-minute set, all-in-one piece. At the start of his intro (that was cut off here), Brian gives Extreme the NICEST compliment: "These guys are real friends. And they're possibly - more than any other group on this planet - the people that understand exactly what Queen have been about all these years... and what Freddie was about all these years."💕
This is a testament to Queen how all these bands loved them and did them proud.
Greatest live music performance of all time.
oh so glad you found this. Extreme outdid themselves that day! thanks for the reaction Hap!!
I am so proud of John, Roger and Brian for pulling that Tribute concert off. It was really a unique occasion, no other music star got a bigger sent off.
Extreme are an unbelievably talented band they are criminally underrated
Totally agree with ya
I love this performance. They really tried to capture Freddies spirit! Was so shocked someone gave a nod to Mustapha, captured my attention from the start. THANK YOU HAP!
Yes when it started with Mustapha, just knew it was going to be an epic medley.
Apparently Brian had asked Extreme to just do their own music and be themselves, and when they told him they wanted to do a medley of Queen songs, he strongly objected, but eventually came around to saying that he new that they would do the right thing…
I was a teenager in the early 90s and this Medley made me want to look into Queen and buy multiple albums.
In my opinion, the best part of this concert, hands down.
WOW, THAT WAS FUN!! WELL DONE EXTREME!! AWESOME!! FANTASTIC REACTION!, HAP!💜💕 great request Allan! 👍
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
I think Extreme captured the essence of Freddie so well during this concert loved it
I remember watching it on TV back then and I was and still am more fascinated with the crowd than actual performers. You can feel their emotions through the concert, that was so special, how they responded as one to every song! It was especially touching while George Michael performed "Somebody to love". Freddie"s spirit was definitely in that Audience that night, in every person's heart! Because noone could sing like him, no matter how good they were.
Shivers and tears!Nice reaction Hap
I only know one of their songs but I loved their energy. Thanks for your request, Allan and thanks for a great reaction, Hap.
Thank you. Definitely proves that Queen songs have to be performed, not just sung.
Extreme were massive Queen fans & they obviously put a lot of effort into that performance to get it right. Nuno is a fantastic guitarist.

HAP Great Reaction. I forgot how good this was. I was very 💔 at the time. Extreme did a great job. Loved it thanks for reminding me😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Oh Hap... ur intro was so heartfelt & thoughtful 💙 u have been a huge part of making Queen music alive & spreading their music all around the world. I’m so glad that I learned about Queen through u & ur subs 👍🏼 I loved watching this concert, felt the love& respect in their performance definitely. Thanks for sharing this 🙏🏼❤️
This whole concert was amazing
You're so fun to watch doing Queen reactions! Your smile says it all. Another great reaction. Absence of presence indeed. Blessings
when Extreme went over to perform at the Tribute concert they were in Florida recording their next album. I had met them through friends from Boston and they were so excited to be asked to perform at it since they were huge Queen fans.
Respect. That was a brave set.

I’ve been waiting on someone to react to Extreme in the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert. So I subscribed!! Thanks for your reaction!!❤️
I remember watching this live. There were a ton of great tributes, but most did not even come close to Freddie. It'll be 30 years this November and he is still missed by millions.
Extreme stole the show. Hands down. Still remember watching it live on TV some 29 yrs ago!!!
Extreme is a band's Band. Respected by all the top superstars. Thats why Brian wanted them to perform. The track after that is love of my life.
Extreme are from Boston mass
Huge queen fans
The singer also fronted van halen after Sammy hagar left the band
Great reaction, brings back so many mixed memories, great bands/singers honouring not just Freddie, but John,Brian and Roger, another great day in musical history....well done my friend.
What a brilliant concert, I remember it like it was yesterday...........Extreme & George Michael stole the show for me.
Less said about Bob Geldof & Spinal Tap the better....felt sorry for Robert Plant when he lost the lyrics for Innuendo
Dec 2018 Extreme had a concert in Jakarta-Indonesia. I watched it and they played Queen songs ❤️
I've only listen to bits of this concert. I have say I have hard time listening to other people singing in Freddie's place. Freddie made every song his own and no one can put that special touch he had in the song. Thanks for the reaction.
I feel exactly the same...you have used the right words for my feelings.
Me too.
The beginning of your reaction almost brought me to tears. Absence of presence for sure. Their music is as popular and important as it ever was and will live on forever. THANK YOU FOR THAT LINK! I really enjoyed it. It was an amazing interview!
I immediately went to your link and watched this💕
Just watched the interview with Nuno and i can see his passion for Freddie and Queen! So lovely! I get it now too.....
Thanks for the link! Fantastic interview!
Thanks for the link. Heard rumours that Brian didn't want them to do Queen songs during their set but wasn't sure if it was true or not.
John Deacon congratulated them, one of the guys from Extreme tells the story in an interview
Helena..its in LCB comment.the link for the interview
That part of the story almost did me in. There are times during the performances with guest singers that I can't take my eyes off of John. Gets me in the heart. Extreme's goal didn't seem to be copying Queen, just playing the hell out of those songs to honor them and Freddie. Loved their passion.
Finally someone is doing from their Tribute to Freddie I love the whole Concert
Thanks HAP! It was nice to see this. I had only seen the Queen portion of that concert prior to your reaction. Wow!!😮 They are very good💕💕💕🎤🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
💕Singing Queen Songs💕💕💕👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🙌
The best song from this concert-Somebody to love by George Michael
Estoy de acuerdo contigo
If I remember - Gary (the singer) and Nuno (the guitar player) met because of their mutual love of the Queen II album. Specifically Side Black. Wow they did a great tribute to Freddie Mercury ❣️👑🥰
Gary Cherone and Extreme were my second favorite performance of the Tribute concert, my first was George Michael, I absolutely loved Extreme’s melody of Freddie’s songs! This was a GREAT performance, first time I've heard it. It's not Queen but it's damned fun as hell. Well done Extreme, and thanks Hap.
Wonderful tribute- I’ve tried watching so many times- it’s very touching- just can’t- it’s painful-💛. But I’ll watch all the other Queen goodies-
They were the absolute best band of the day and like Gary said "We know why were here today and we know why you're here today, WE LOVE YOU FREDDIE
Nuno is easily one of the best guitarists alive today, seriously check out some of their other stuff. Their live performances are sooooo good!!!
😁 Whoosh!!

Everyone involved in the Memorial Tribute were really good! Gary Sherone did great on Hammer to fall with queen! ❤️
Hap....check out the link LCB put into the comments. Thanks again LCB!
Merry Christmas all those on this channel
Same to you!
🎧 👍 Nice reaction. good job!
Hey hap! I love your reactions. Especially to Queen songs and the like. I think I’ve gone thru your playlist 3 times. Could you please react to These are the days of our lives? I love that song and it’s really moving. Also I’m going slightly mad. Thx and stay healthy!

They ended this set with Love Of My Life and More Than Words so maybe Queen fans may want to see that
This whole concert was amazing. David Bowie was really good. He did Under Pressure & more. If I remember right this is before the concert started. 👑
Sureley, they did their best!
But...... in my mind, i only hear Freddie's voice and see him performing. I can't imagine how Brian, John and Roger got over Freddie's death.

@@Sandy-dt2mp True words!
They did is Boston people so proud that day still see them play home show's are the best
There were some really great performances at this concert, but just think that as Freddie’s range was so great, they had to have so many artists to cover the songs he could sing on his own. England has the best Audience's
Please react to more Freddie Mercury tribute concert videos.
I always seem to be a few months late viewing reactions but this one was great. They kept their own style yet incorporated audience participation. What a great tribute although I missed the adlibs also! Of course, they kept it to the lower key songs, lol.
💫✨🔥🤘🏽😌🤘🏽🔥✨💫
They were good, but only one Queen. Please react to Let Me Live with Freddie, Roger and Brian each singing a verse as lead.
Best concert
I like some of the lesser known songs like Cool Cat Mustafa,, my melancholy blues, Hey, Big Spender, Is This the,World We Created,& There Must Be More To Life Than This.
s this the world we createc?
Some must have. Told. All in queen. Like. Extreme. Brain may loves extreme. Says. They. The. Closest to. Queen. He. Said. That
Agreed, they don't have that spontaneous sense of fun. Otherwise, pretty good. Also, only the harder stuff, no love songs yet.
After this they did an excellent version Love Of My Life which then went into their own song More Than Words
11:35 it takes two because it's a two person harmony lmao
I totally respect them for tonight but I can hardly get through this concert without breaking down any minute I expect ready to jump on stage and show them how it's done they all did a great job or at least tried their best but it's heartbreaking to watch without him there I've been with you from pretty much they want a queen I've noticed you haven't reacted to freddies three part series of his funny moments
Extreme did a great job....but, it's almost impossible to hit those Freddie notes.
They stole the show!
HEY HAP, THANK YOU for doing this reaction... I don't remember if I'd ever left a request for you to do Extreme's Queen medley from Freddie's tribute concert; they're pretty much the ONLY folks I like to watch "covering" Queen's music.

(At first, I thought maybe you were using a video that is just the first half, because there are two or three postings on YT, of the medley split into two parts. But, this one you watched seems to be edited/shortened.)
