I don't think it's balanced still Naofumi only did this because he knew the Queen was going to offer up her life for theirs, which is absolutely ridiculous. He named her Bitch and Slut and the father Trash. Yeah, it proves that they lied but so what? Naofumi went through so much worse in how long he was there compared Bitch and Trash will ever do in their own life. Trash still lives in the castle, Bitch also still lives in the castle and is still one of Spear Hero's companions, and she tried to kill Naofumi's party when she was away but good girl Melty was there to stop her. How a nice and generous soul like Melty came about in a house that had Trash and Bitch in it is beyond me.

@@cerberossthormorrage6463 How is this ending better than the novel? All it does is prove the Priest point made about the royals and how they abuse their power and neglect everyone else. Look at how they treated Naofumi in the end of episode 1 by trying to silence him from even talking while Myne in her trial was at least able to speak out and defend her foul actions. They even said that if they didn't need Naofumi to fight the waves they would have executed him without even a fair trial yet Myne who was clearly guilty of treason and tried to assassinate a future monarch is given a joke of a punishment for the severity of her crimes and the King too. Even if the priest didn't start a rebellion somebody else was bound to eventually because all the royals do in this show is abuse their power to take care of their own and get away with it.
After this episode she tried to kill him again. She hasn't learned a damn thing

yeah i look the anime first and it finally looks for a good guy, he could execute naofumi after assaulting his child but think about the country first. I don't like him, and he let his emotions with the past version of the Shield Hero and his own biases color his judgement. His execution by their own laws is rightly deserved...but he did face it like a man. I believe, to an extent, he can understand he was wrong, and was accepting his punishment. At that moment he acted like an actual Royal should...so I'll give him credit where credit is due. He would have died like a man, and that's better than some can ever hope for.

If it weren't for the fact Naofumi was a hero they said that they would have executed him without a fair trial yet Myne and the King are guilty of treason and are just given a slap on the wrist and stripped of their tittles nobody even speaks out and questions the decision. Could they be any more bias?Terrible ending.

Originally in the manga Naofumi had no remorse and outright called for their deaths, and the queen objected. This change is pretty good and fits the character, making him seem heroic and cruel at the same time.
It also makes him unrelatable.

Dude you are lit complaining on each person's post of justice. We haven't seen anything past this point yet. They literally just got off the chopping block and haven't been released to the public yet. Considering we only really follow naofumis point of view, we cant say there punishment is ever the same because we aren't spending 20 episodes watching them crumble. We will probably see many things in the coming episodes that will give us more glimpses of justice. And here is the thing naofumi got redeemed. It was living hell for sure, but he can keep moving forward. Trash and bitch will be stuck in that hell forever.

As a curious fact, Naofumi has called them with these nicknames in his mind since the beginning of the series,in fact naofumi does this with most people, the reason why naofumi does not say the name of the blacksmith, seamstress and magician is because naofumi does not remember them so he prefers to nickname people.

Yep, naofumi just had to be naofumi during the execution... At least he had fun with it.
This is why Naofumi is great in this scene.
I find this punishment much more satisfying overall. And if Naofumi didn't stop it, then it would practically have made the adventure so far a bit hypocritical. i.e. Getting redemption while not stooping to their level all the while proving everyone wrong. And most importantly, growing as a character and realizing what truly matters in this world. Even if he was wrongly screwed in the beginning, he realized that it all was not pointless, as he gains way more through his adventures.
But to each their own. Everyone has their own views and opinions in the matter.

Give me a break, these 2 idiots got a ton of people killed with their actions and even if you don't count the BS against Naofumi, Malty specifically conspired to kill the heir to the throne, almost had two of the heroes killed which would've made the waves exponentially stronger (effectively forcing the remaining ones to be killed and starting from scratch) and helped a coup attempt with her actions, a single one of these is grounds for making her head roll.
Also this act of mercy comes back to bite them in the ass later on because none of the people involved seems to remember that a Slave Seal is not foolproof given that there's a way to remove it without the owner's say so as it was established pretty early on when they tried to take Raphtalia away.

The Queen was willing to sacrifice her own life in exchange for theirs, which was why she was hesitating to call the execution and was reaching behind her to pull out a knife (I don't remember whether it was poisoned or not), so not only did Naofumi spare the two, but he also stopped the Queen from doing something rash, so that was probably the best outcome.

This scene is an invention of the anime, it never happens in the wn, ln nor manga. In those versions the Queen lets naofumi choose the punishment, he chooses death penalty but the Queen convinces him to not do that.

I kind of like the results of how they made Naofumi in this particular situation (and even the anime). The few recent mangas I've read lately always have a super edgy MC. Something about taking revenge on certain people (or even everyone). Naofumi is a good change of pace.

I mean, he can be bitter and a little mean sometimes, but the man has risked his life to get Filo some nice clothes, started an impromptu soup kitchen, helped multiple villages deal with their problems for dirt cheap or even free and is most antagonized by people causing suffering more than anything else. He's still a Good Man beneath it all, if resentful and angry.
