My dog is obsessed with blankets. The softer the better and he loves to burrow in them. He’s not a dog that is ever cold either, in fact he’d rather be out in the cold. He LOVES snow
I think it's important to add that while dogs may love to chew sticks it can be very dangerous. The sticks could splinter in their mouth and cause harm, so you're better off bringing a toy that they can bite down on or chew safely. Also, never leave a dog alone with anything that they could choke on or that could splinter, like sticks and bones.
@@princessromanov same here in fact on two occasions now I've had to pull a side ways lodged stick out of my Staffordshire bull terriers throat Lol daft sod still tries and eats them.
Our late dog never roamed far from home - but if we walked without a leash and got separated she'd just go home (Giving me a heart attack in the process). Sure she may have visited a neighbor on occasion or paid a visit to the small herd of cows on the field behind my parents house when she was outside in the yard alone. No they are not my parents' cows, they belong to a family living a couple houses down the street. But the dog just loved sniffing around looking for mice, cats, birds etc. on the field. It was far more enticing to her than roaming the neighborhood.
Our black lab likes to playfully gnaw on our arms when we come home from work. I feel he is just saying I missed you and it’s sort of like a hug. Anyone else have a dog that does this? Never seen this before until we got this one. He is a really good dog.
CV59, our golden retriever loves to lick our hands, arms, and especially our ears and face (if available). He has always been a licker, though. That is how we picked him out from his litter at 5 wks old (we didn't bring him home until 8 wks - no worries).
My lab will stand beside me until I scratch her head for about a minute then suddendly drop onto the floor if you keep scratching her she will fall asleep!
We used to have a black lab years ago we called SARGE. He was a great dog and such a sweetheart. We took him for daily walks around the subdivision. Alot of times he'd run for some distance looking for the 'perfect spot' to dump. He'd do his sniff and spin in circles thing, then back up and 💩 against the nearest bush. Wow, it's been almost 40 years he's been gone🥺 Time flies. We still love and miss you buddy, and always will 🥰😊🤗
My Jack Russell girl collects corncobs. On every walk in autumn she will tear one cob down at the field, peel it, eat some corn, carry it home and place it on the steps outside the door.
I wish you covered yawning. Other than when a dog is very tired, they yawn because they are stressed. Usually they are communicating that they are displeased with something, like not getting what they want or being told to do or not do something. It is probably the most important behaviour to observe as communication. Also some dogs mark territory with poop with the instinct to do so like urinating. On walks, my beagle Jasper always backs up against a tree, poll, or bush. He tries to go 8 to over 20 times in a 40 min walk. 3 on while traveling away from home, and the rest are the last 3rd of the way home. After 3 poops there is nothing left, but sometimes he eventually he forces diarrhea. It is an instinct that I am unable to rain out of him. FYI you can easily train a dog to close the door when they come in. My channel has a video of both my previous beagle and current, opening the partially closed door to come in and then closing it. Even when I am upstairs, I do not need to let Jasper in nor do I have to go close the door.

Re: licking paws - My vet told me that can also mean the dog has aches/pains like arthritis which they feel inside, but they lick what hurts hoping it will help.
It means they are getting allergies and dry skin from their garbage kibble diet. A raw diet and regular coat maintenance will clear all those owner negligence problems right up.
My dog has a mild case of arthritis in her back due to age but she licks her paws because of allergies (rarely now since she's being medicated). But I think licking can be when they're uncomfortable - be it pain, allergies, anxiety, agitation, etc.

My dog Dom used to carry home sticks 3 times his size. It was comical especially when he tried to go up the ramp and could not figure out how to drag it up the ramp with him. He would run up the ramp to break the stick into smaller pieces and then carry those up the ramp together behind him. He would then abandon them at the door... Swear he was doing it to create a barricade to protect the home from strangers.
My small dog shakes his toys definitely like he is killing it.. when he poops while looking at me 😂 he bends in a funny position! Mine sighs out of boredom though coz he only does that when he hasn’t been out! Repeatedly!
My puggle does all of these things he stares at me when he is pooping so I pretend to look around to let him know I'm watching out for him he comes in bathroom everytime I poop and watches out for me in return alot of things he does are of natural instinct fluffing of bed shaking toys etc.
I love dogs so much cuz as soon as they see a random stranger they look at you like "heyyy, ur my new best friend". So unlike humans that judge everyone else.
I once tried to suddenly jumpscare my hon-sister's dog. She gave the biggest sigh as if she was sick of me visiting. But I love that she feels the need to stick around me when I visit though I'm not her owner.
My dog a Golden Retriever, escaped from our garden once and invited himself to a dog show in the town centre. Luckily he was seen by our friends and they called us. He usually sighed when we had visitors, the chatter stopped him sleeping.
The section on sticks is actually bad information, they might like doing it but countless dogs get injuries from impaling themselves with them, take a ball or a toy on a walk instead.
My dog could care less about balls or toys when on a walk. A stick is a temporary distraction for her which I don't care if she leaves behind when she becomes interested in something else.
You have two number fours. Why they shake their toys @ 5:23 and why dogs sigh @ 6:17. But that's okay it's a serendipitous bonus. Always wanted to use that word in a sentence...lol
So many research showing that the "alpha dog" thing is bogus, yet it's still so ingrained that people keep perpetrating it. There is no alpha dog. There is a leader. A leader provides safety, food, relaxation time, makes sure the sick and young get food first, settles disputes before they get out of hand. It's a responsibility.

My dog has a favourite blanket, he takes it around the house and when he decides for a place he will make it a ball, keeps it under his head between his front paws and sleeps on while nibbling on it. Always wondered why he's doing that. If a blanket is not available he will use my shawls.
I'm reminded of the scene in the movie, The Producers where Zero Mostel takes the comfort blanket away from Gene Wilder. Kids often carry a blanket around with them.
Thank you, No. 1 was interesting but my dog is sick in the morning if we get up late and he has not been feed as he is only feed once a day + a couple of small treats late at night when he has a walk (if he is good). He has great timing and knows what time of the morning my wife should feed him and if she is an hour late he is sick - only a little bit with no real food and he has always done it.
Ehhh... Dogs rely on consistency. ..yours could have a low blood sugar due to not eating at the same time each day. What kind of treat the night before? Maybe healthier treat based on the nutritional instructions on the package. And why only a treat if the dog is "good" Dog might need it's food split into morning and night and to eat at the same time your family does. Oh because your dog is part of the family. Having a child or dog are similar. No more sleeping late whenever. Get up dog is waiting
@@michelleasunnydays140 Thank you, the treats are only two doggie biscuits. He only gets them if he has a good walk (not trying to attack anything). He only puts effort into trying and attacking any dog, most of the time I have to drag him to walk. He loves cats and never even attempts to chase them, but will for other animals. He is a good family dog but does need to be on a lead when walking as he is a very powerful Alaskan malamute.
Lol my dog always steals my dads pieces of wood when he’s doing his woodwork outside. One time he spent like 2 hrs sanding a cane he made, he turns around to get a drink and SNATCH! My dog takes it and runs to the bushy area of my yard and basically destroys it in 20 secs lol.

Constantly licking paws can also be a neurotic or stress-induced habit. Separation anxiety or outright abuse can be possible causes.

My dog is obsessed with blankets. The softer the better and he loves to burrow in them. He’s not a dog that is ever cold either, in fact he’d rather be out in the cold. He LOVES snow
Maybe he has a bit of A underground animal in him. Quite a few of them. Although there are some dogs that have been trained to hunt underground.
Craig Rix you’re welcome 😁
If I am not feeling well, fritz would sit on me and won’t let me move until I get better, once I feel better he gets off. Lol
My dogs have always been stick eaters. And the second I hear that familiar crack I take the stick away.
Our yellow lab does exact same thing CV59. She mouths our forearm and holds it but never puts much pressure.
@@bpdp379 can confirm brown one does the same lol
My lab will stand beside me until I scratch her head for about a minute then suddendly drop onto the floor if you keep scratching her she will fall asleep!
@@bpdp379 must be a lab thing then. Good to know.

Even when I am upstairs, I do not need to let Jasper in nor do I have to go close the door.
thanks so much - actually learned a few things. love why doggies shake their toys 🧸 :) 🐶

friend got a mini schnauzer, it shakes its stuffed animal hard then stares me down.....yup i'm next lmao
My schnauzer actually caught a squirrel once, shook it and sent it flying about 10 feet into the air.
When my puppy does that he's taunting me trying to get me to chase him for it.
They were breed
for ratters. Catch mice and rats grab by neck violently shake and break preys neck. Bred to keep rodents down on farm as they eat grain.
My English mastiff is obsessed with sticks, I must have 20 sticks on my lawn at any given time 🤣 he’s a wonderful dog so, we don’t mind
My dogs the same. He absolutely loves it when the firewood gets dropped off. A pile of wooden bits just for him😄
My Kangal/Doberman mix too..
Mine used to love sticks but know when I throw him one he mainly wants to piss on it. He's less of a playful dog in his old age
Re: licking paws - My vet told me that can also mean the dog has aches/pains like arthritis which they feel inside, but they lick what hurts hoping it will help.
my pip only ever licked his pay if he had a sore paw... Like from walking way to much.
It means they are getting allergies and dry skin from their garbage kibble diet. A raw diet and regular coat maintenance will clear all those owner negligence problems right up.
Why does the narrator sound like Mr. Belvedere.
My dog has a mild case of arthritis in her back due to age but she licks her paws because of allergies (rarely now since she's being medicated). But I think licking can be when they're uncomfortable - be it pain, allergies, anxiety, agitation, etc.
@@itazuranakisu i think so, my baby only started at her paws when she developed her heart disease, its definitely a sign somethings wrong.
The cartoon animation in this video is so adorable. 😊
My small dog shakes his toys definitely like he is killing it.. when he poops while looking at me 😂 he bends in a funny position! Mine sighs out of boredom though coz he only does that when he hasn’t been out! Repeatedly!

My jack Russell shakes vermin when she catches it! I think that’s the real reason why dogs shake there toys

A stick is a temporary distraction for her which I don't care if she leaves behind when she becomes interested in something else.
a lot of these vids are dangerous....
If your dog gets injured by a stick, it sounds like your dog might have bigger issues

Comfort
I'm reminded of the scene in the movie, The Producers where Zero Mostel takes the comfort blanket away from Gene Wilder. Kids often carry a blanket around with them.
@@tonyneilson1652 yes I also thought it's kind of a regressive behaviour. ☺️

And why only a treat if the dog is "good"
Dog might need it's food split into morning and night and to eat at the same time your family does.
Our little Doxy is hilarious to watch at bedtime! They do things that are so smart if you just think about it!

Our dog sees us playing with skiing sticks and logs a tree to be not the only guy on the mountain without stick.

How nice to have such interesting explanations; for behaviour one’s watched, mystified, for decades 🤓....
Chewing sticks keeps their teeth clean, I don't believe it sooths gums as it usually makes them bleed, unless it's a lovely bit of soft rotten wood 😊
It soothes gums the way biting things when teething soothes gums for a human baby. It’s like scratching an itch but not as destructive.
